Chapter 33: Slayer down and to Gondolia
Alastair almost looked monstrous with the steam rising off of him and the net of veins covering his dense muscles. the slayer could tell that it couldn't win this fight with its usual method of brute force and was starting to panic. with a series of wild slashes with its remaining arm the slayer fought for its life. the entire time alastair used his body strength alone to block each of the strikes with precise movements as he felt the force echo through his body. it was an odd feeling for alastair as even though the force shook him it wasn't painful , more like when you get a deep tissue massage.
What alastair had failed to realize was that while it was true that the system was perfecting his body the system was perfecting it for combat meaning that quite literally fighting is in his genes at this point. this proclivity for violence was starting to manifest in this battle as he deemed the slayer a decent opponent. this thirst for violence led to this situation were alastair is playing with the slayer much like a cat might with a mouse. getting bored alastair sheathed metalbane and jumped onto the slayer pincer before punching it in the face knocking it out with a sickening crack.
The beast fell over limp as alastair landed on the sand with his eyes closed and with but a few deep breaths calmed his heart and relaxed his muscles. with a thought alastair dried his body with magic before putting on a shirt from his bag and walking over to the group. "remind me not to make you angry." erik said jokingly. alastair laughed unknowingly breaking the tension that his show of strength as the rest of the group start joking about alastairs performance.
The prince had his men load up the slayer onto the wagon binding it with chains that alastair knew wouldn't hold the beast for more than a moment when it awoke. alastair figured it wasn't his problem anymore so besides giving a warning that the prince shrugged off he didn't do anything. the expedition hurried back to the city after that at double speed since the prince was eager to show off in front of his father. the return trip was uneventful since alastair killed all the respawned monsters making it easy for the expedition to return to the city in four hours.
The party separated from the prince before reaching the city since it would raise questions if they were seen with the expedition. sylvando went ahead of the expedition after thanking the party for the adventure. the party walked into the city an hour after the expedition so they heard about how the slayer broke free and was slain by the circus performer sylvando after the prince stood against it. "the prince actually tried to fight that monster , are we sure its the same person?" veronica asked doubtfully. "well considering there is only one prince that kinda solidifies it as unbelievable as it seems." alastair said with a shrug.
The following events were similar to the game as faris asked his father to help the party and they got a travel pass which was definitely not worth the trouble. the party went to leave the city to head to gondolia in hopes of catching up with the merchant that has the reinbow. but sylvando ended up tagging along since the girls outvoted alastair and erik. as a small consolation alastair got a perk call smile knight that boosted his small weapons and speech skills by ten points each.
The trip through the desert was boring for alastair since he had killed the monsters not long ago leaving the path forward mostly safe. the party had to camp out since the sun was going down and the city was too far to go back. everyone spent a couple hours after dinner doing whatever they felt like such as the twins engaging in a game called spark that involved one mage creating a spark while the other tries to put it out. this interested alastair so after learning the rules gave it a go only to find out it was quite fun.
The party woke up the next day and set out on the road again as they crossed the rest of the desert. the next terrain they crossed was completely opposite of the desert as it was a humid bog with huge mangrove trees and moss everywhere on the wooden boardwalk. the party killed the monsters along the way and alastair reached level ten and after boosting his athletics to ninety two then looking over the new perks chose the here and now perk which let him reach level eleven immediately and max out his athletics before placing the last eleven points into magic.
The perks alastair chose since he had an extra point saved from his ninth level up were the finesse perk that boosted his critical chance by ten percent and a perk that wasn't in fallout called monster tamer that he assumed was a version of animal friend since he didn't see it. this perk in particular interested alastair as it gave him a small chance to tame a monster for his own use as a mount. this means he could finally get the full use out of the summoning whistle that he got from the village chief of cobblestone.
