Chapter 58: Questing
"Lad did ye expect us to act differently to ye just because ye know who ya were?" rab asked seriously when he saw alastairs surprise. alastair nodded "i thought it might change how you saw me since i never told anyone this." he said honestly. "the way i see it this is the only version of you i have ever known so this changes nothing for me." erik said honestly. the rest of the party agreed with erik which made alastair feel better. "well enough about that then , lets stock up for our trip to Yggdrasil while i help out the folks around the city."
The party split up after this with the twins staying with the old man to talk about their trip. rab and erik went to sell off the materials and buy supplies such as antidotes for whatever the forest held. that just left alastair and his girls to help the citizens of arboria as a quick level boost before they meet Yggdrasil. the trio found twenty different quest so they were quite busy throughout the day. the first four quest were standard fetch quest involving places that the party had already been to that were knocked out with a few teleports.
The next six quest were crafting quest since alastair advertised that he had a fun sized forge. those quest were a true joy for alastair since he loved using the forge to create things. he made some robes , a few accessories with nifty abilities and even a staff for one of the scholars. the staff was his favorite quest of the series since the scholar wanted a "staff designed by the luminary" which meant alastair got to really push the forge in terms of what it could do resulting in a unique creation unlike any other.
There were three quest that had alastair and the girls solving disputes which wasn't something alastair enjoyed at all. the remaining quest were all one offs that had diverse requirements. the first was a quest to allow a scholar to examine his body that was fascinated by its potential. the second and third were sort of follow up quest for the first with alastair needing to use the entirety of his physical strength as well as magical ability. the physical quest was quite safe for the spectators however the magical one proved anything but.
The scholar wanted alastair to draw out his full magical power into an orb to test the differences between it and normal peoples magic. unfortunately despite being a standard mage activity the scholar neglected to consider that alastairs mana pool was monstrous compared to a normal mages. the resulting mana orb that alastair summoned looked like a massive mountain above the city after alastair summoned it. the citizens of arboria went into a panic after the orb showed up spontaneously since they thought the sun was falling. alastair quickly reabsorbed his mana after seeing this and apologized to the citizens of arboria for the scare
Alastair got a quest to help a platoon of arborian guards up their training after they had seen how strong he was. that same platoon was horrified by the training alastair put them through since it was one step above torture in their eyes. what was worse is they could tell that he wasn't messing with them since he did the entire regime with them without any look of discomfort. the entire platoon was filled with respect after they finished the regime since they felt muscles in all parts of their bodies aching which meant the workout strengthened the whole body.
The next quest after the training quest was for the alastair to catch an old ladies cat that had gotten out. the odd thing about this quest was that this cat was practically a ninja in how good it was at escaping capture. alastair had to use space magic to catch the cat since if he tried to catch it with his physical strength he might have "accidentally" killed it for the trouble it caused him. the final quest was for alastair to find a little girl who had gone missing earlier in the morning.
The little girl had apparently wandered into the arborian highlands nearby in her play but had not returned several hours later worrying her parents. the trio searched through the highlands and found the girl lost a good few miles from town. after returning the girl to her parents alastair got enough experience to level up to fifteen at which point he put the thirteen points into magic raising it to seventy three. besides the knowledge that came with the new level alastairs mana condensed becoming denser until it felt like it was on the verge of changing shape but wasn't quite there yet.
