“Hello. It’s an honor to meet all of you,” I greeted the seven men with a slight bow.

A man with blue hair grabbed a towel, wiping his face before approaching me. He wiped his hand on his pants before extending an arm out toward me.

“A pleasure to meet you, Doctor. My name is Kim Namki, and I am the leader of this group.” He smiled as he shook my hand.

“Oh, please,” I shook my head, still holding onto his hand, “Call me, Melody.”

“Well then, it is nice to meet you, Melody-nim.”

“Likewise.”

Another man came forward, followed by the others behind him; he had jet black hair.

“Hi, Melody-nim. I’m Park Hojeong,” he friendly greeted me.

“Hello, it is nice to meet you.”

A tall man with broad shoulders and golden-brown hair approached me next with a polite bow. I politely bowed back.

“How do you do, Melody-nim? My name is Kim Jin-hyuk, but you may call me Jin. I am the eldest of this lot.”

“I am well. How are you, Jin-ssi?”

“I have had better days, thank you. These other four men here, are Kim Yunjun,” he gestured toward a short man with onyx black hair, “Park Minhyun,” he gestured toward a shorter man with short blonde locks, “Kim Taemin,” he moved his arm a bit to the left toward a slightly taller man who had pale brown hair, almost similar to a dirty-blonde color. “Then finally, Min Jeongseok,” he pointed towards the youngest-looking male who had midnight-black hair with an almost navy blue sheen when touched by the light.

“I see. Well, I hope we can become close in the near future, and I hope you look forward to getting to talk to me as much as I do you.” I politely crossed my hands in front of me.

Although it was my first time meeting them in person, I had already read over each of their files before the agency had sent me here to be interviewed to be their psychologist.

I do wonder if they have ever seen anyone professionally before, before me.

I thought to myself. My eyes kept gliding over to one specific individual, who was trying to not make much, if at all any, eye contact with me: Kim Yunjun. I began to wonder if it was either the atmosphere or myself that was making him uncomfortable. Either way, I knew I had my work cut out for me. Being famous can be mentally draining, no matter how strong you are; these men were no different from other celebrities I had helped. I was momentarily lost in my thoughts when the CEO spoke up.

“How about you all take the rest of the day off and get to know each other, hm?” He encouraged the boys as he looked between them and me.

I thought this could be an excellent opportunity to break the ice, so I willingly agreed to the proposal.

“I think that sounds like a splendid idea. Is that okay with you seven?” I asked them in earnest.

“I have a question,” the youngest, Min Jeongseok, spoke up for the first time today, “for the doctor.”

All eyes trained on me as I peered curiously toward him. “Yes? What would you like to know?”

“How old are you?” Jeongseok shamelessly asked me.

I blinked at first, trying to be sure I had heard him correctly. Nobody has ever asked me, let alone my patients, about my age on day one. Regardless, I politely answered his question in a not-so-traditional way.

“Well, Jeongseok-ssi... I was born in the year 1990. So, I am older than the seven of you.”

“Do I have to call you “Noona” then? You know, since you aren’t Korean? I mean, I know foreigners have their preferences, but I... Uhm...,” Jeongseok awkwardly scratched the back of his head.

“Whatever is more comfortable for you. I want you all to feel at ease talking to me, as we will be working together from now on.”

I watched as Jin-hyuk swatted Jeongseok in the back of the head. “Hey! You know better! Use honorifics if she is older than you!”

"I was just asking, Jin-Hyung..." Jeongseok mumbled as he rubbed the back of his head, looking off to the side toward the floor.

The CEO just smiled awkwardly as he cleared his throat. “Well, I think I shall take my leave now. You all have fun,” he turned toward me with his hand extended,”...-and good luck to you, Melody.”

“Thank you,” I responded automatically as I shook his hand.

After that, we watched him leave. Then, I turned my attention back to the seven men in front of me. “So, do you want to start as a group or individually?” I asked them with genuine curiosity, and to my surprise, the man who had been avoiding my gaze since I first stepped into this room finally put his attention on me.

“I want to start individually,” Kim Yunjun finally said.

I froze for a moment when I heard his voice.

I know that voice...

I tried to just shake it off as I gave him a natural smile. “Of course. Where would you like to start, here or somewhere else?”

“Namki-ah, can we take her back to the dorms?” Yunjun asked as he made eye contact with the leader of their group. Namki looked surprised, to say the least.

“The dorms, Hyung? On the first day?”

“Yes, is that a problem? She’ll be there eventually anyway,” Yunjun calmly inquired.

“Well...” Namki began before looking at me, “Would that be okay with you, Melody-nim?”

I thought for a moment, not entirely sure if going to their home was a good idea or not. I had never gone to a client’s home before unless it was for an emergency. To go so casually seems a bit odd.

On the other hand, it should not hurt anything, right? I should do whatever makes them feel more comfortable talking to me because they are more likely to open up about their feelings.

I asked myself, feeling conflicted. Finally, after making a decision, I gave them my answer.

“That is fine with me. We can go wherever you like.”

“Well, let us head back to the dorms then. I guess dance practice is over for today,” Hojeong spoke up, walking over to pick up his belongings.

The others followed in suit, gathering their things. All the while, I found that Yunjun kept his eyes on me, and at first, I was not sure why. It was not until they each headed out the door that, Yunjun stopped in the middle of the doorway and turned around toward me. He took a step forward which only caused me to step back in confusion. My confusion spiked when he closed the door with his foot, not taking his eyes off me. My hands gripped onto the strap of my purse as I held his gaze.

“Yunjun-ssi? What are you doing?” I questioned him, a developing fear laced in my tone.

He said nothing but only took another step closer. Then, most likely noticing the nervous expression on my face, he put his hands in his pockets with a short glance away from me. I let out a breath that I had not even realized I had been holding, feeling myself relax just a tiny amount. He looked back at me, not saying anything, as if he was studying me. I tried again for a response.

“Is something wrong?” I asked in hopes of an answer this time.

He sighed, peering down at the ground before locking his eyes back on mine.

“You don’t remember me, do you?”

Did I hear him right? Do I remember him; what is he talking about? I have never met him in person before, to my knowledge. How could I know someone that I for sure do not know?

I just stared at him, completely taken back.

“What? I... I beg your pardon?”
