Chapter 26: Nico Robin

(3rd person pov)

"So this is Baltigo huh?" Liam asked with a slight grin he tried to cover up. Seeing everyone so organized and doing their jobs with smiles on their faces must have pleased him, it made his first impressions of the place increase.

At around the time Dragon overthrew King Glamour, he sent a small team of 10 members to Gintoki Island to help get everything sorted. Including Liam and Chiyo, around 70% of the population of Gintoki Island wished to move to Baltigo.

A ship of 5 members along with the leavers made their way back to the headquarters, while 5 members stayed behind with those who wished to stay to protect the island. Over the years many members experienced burnout and stress, and so other than temporary vacations, Dragon allowed the members to stay on an allied island to protect it, which gave them a much needed vacation.

"Yep, there's no place like home." August replied with a smile, pointing towards the main building. "That's the main headquarters where most of the important stuff is and happens. There are dorms, cafeterias, meeting rooms, training rooms, and more."

Liam nodded, asking a question of his own, "And where will I be staying?"

August flashed him a knowing smile, like he expected him to ask the question, "There's an extra bed in mine and Sabo's room, so you'll be with us.Good luck." August flashed a devilish grin.

Liam nodded, but still had his concerns. "What about Granny Chiyo?"

"Ah, she will most likely be near the top of the rooms. But don't worry, her nursing skills will be crucial for us, so there's little to no chance she would be hurt. Here is the safest place for her." August quickly reassured Liam, who seemed to have finally calmed down. His shoulders relaxed and he finally adopted a normal expression on his face.

August didn't blame him. Although he didn't know much of Liam's past he knew it most likely wasn't pretty given the fact he had to stop him from having a panic attack. The only person Liam trusts is Granny Chiyo, so it must be way out of his comfort zone to join the Revolutionary Army and have people who he shouldn't have to worry about.

August placed a hand on his shoulder reassuringly, "Don't worry, you'll fit right in soon enough. We all have a common goal here, so no one here is enemies, only rivals. It's impractical and stupid to have conflicts here."

"I guess." Liam said, still slightly reserved.

"Hey." August started, getting Liam's attention, "If you're still on the bench about all of this, go look around with your Grandma, talk to some of the members. If you'd like I could even get you a chance to speak with Dragon, the leader."

Liam finally managed a smile, "Mhm…I'd like that. Now what's this about your little team you mentioned? Did you say there was a fishman on your team? That's pretty cool."

"Yeah, you should also meet the rest of them. There's Koala, a master of fishmen karate. There's also Sabo, my best friend. He's really eager to fight you."

"Oh really?" Liam piqued his eyebrows in interest, "How do you think I'd fare up against him?"

August made a so-so gesture with my hand, "It's hard to tell. I can tell you're strong, it's just that Sabo is really strong as well."

Liam nodded, easily accepting the complement, "What about me and you? Who would you think would win?" He asked.

August let out a chuckle, "It would be me" he said seriously. It wasn't that August was overconfident or full of himself, but he was pretty sure he had a good chance at beating Liam. His experience in fighting swordsmen may put him at a disadvantage, but he was still sure he could win.

"You really think fists can beat a 21 grade sword?" Liam questioned, revealing his scissor blade.

"It's not just my fists, I have a devil fruit. Since I trust you, and anyone with a brain would eventually figure it out, I'll tell you. It's called the Shatter Shatter fruit, it allows me to break anything, organic or not." August explained. He then proceeded to give him a small display of his power, cracking the air and sending a small shard of glass towards Liam.

Liam took out his sword, turning the glass into harmless pieces of silver.

"That's just a little taste of my power."

Liam smirked back at him, "Maybe you have a chance…at surviving 5 minutes that is."

"Don't get cheeky, I'm a higher rank than you!"

"She entered the Grandline one year ago, but where could she have gone?" Morley grumbled, feeling the frustration build up in her fists. She slammed the stone desk with an enraged expression, creating a small dent.

Dragon sighed, "I'm not sure…She has been on the run her whole life, and we can't openly search for her, we have to be covert which does not help us. Doing so would be a declaration of War to the World Government with all out hostilities, and we aren't ready for that yet."

"If only we could find her…I would try but the west blue needs my assistance, especially with an officer named Laffitte who has been very elusive lately. I'm also not what one would call 'stealthy' so it would be pointless for me." Morley deflated, slouching further into the chair.

I looked at Morley with an expression of sadness, feeling her downtrodden mood. Ever since we had word that she entered the grandline a year ago, Morley had been persistent with Dragon to find her, but there's only so much he could do.

I raised an eyebrow to my chin, the cogs turning in my brain. If I recall correctly, then Nico Robin was in the Baroque Works for roughly 4 years, which meant that she was in Alabasta 4 years before the main series.

Luffy was 17 when the main series started, and Sabo was 3 years older than him. Right now both me and Sabo were 16…which meant that we were 4 years before the start of the series! Holy shit, why didn't I think about this sooner!

"...And that's the end of the meeting. Anyone have anything else to add?" Dragon's voice brought me back to reality, ending my internal dilemma and the decision that would change the rest of my life.

"Yes." I spoke up for the first time since the meeting started, "I would like a month long break."

"Ok" Dragon nodded, "You've been working nonstop lately, both in and out of the battlefield. Break permitted. Though I am curious, what are you going to do?"

I grinned back at him, a smile adorning my features, "Alabasta."
