Chapter 50: Yonji
It was a couple of hours later and the preparations were finally complete. In the short amount of time he had, August had managed to prepare the island as much as possible for the invasion.
Weapons were sharpened, areas were scouted out, and stations for the commencing battle were set up. Now all that's left was to test their preparations against the feared Germa 66.
"Is everything prepared?" Turning to Joe, August asked.
"Un" Joe nodded, "Everything is prepared. We should be good to go."
"Good. And make sure to stay back, your devil fruit will be crucial for this fight."
Joe looked like he wanted to protest, but he decided against it, "Ok."
As he double checked everything, Hack walked up to him and told him his fish buddies had spotted a large fleet of ships coming their way.
[A/N: It felt weird writing this scene, I had no idea how to do like a large scale battle scene]
"BATTLE STATIONS! FORM UP!"
As the words left his mouth, the atmosphere in the air changed and everyone immediately got to work. Of the fighting forces, most of them were his men with only a few able bodied volunteers from this Island, supplied by Mayor Yaaj himself.
Of course, that didn't mean the rest of the Island sat by and watched. There were scouts, nurses, doctors, ammo suppliers and more who each had their own task to fulfil.
"Nock…Draw…Loose!"
The archers perched at the back behind the cover of heavy concrete let loose their projectiles as arrows made of condensed glass soared into the air.
As the arrows descended onto the fleet of ships, August watched with narrowed eyes when a large blast of wind completely destroyed the hail of arrows.
August huffed, 'Well, it's not like I expected them to work that much anyway. If they can't add Haki to the arrows, then it's mostly useless.'
The ships grew closer to the Island with blinding speed.
"Archers! Stay back and attack with your arrows when they arrive." August commanded before turning to Joe with a nod.
*CLANK* *CLANK*
Multiple canisters hit the floor as they exploded into a heavy thick smoke that surrounded the battlefield. This would make it much harder for the Germa 66 soldiers to fight them. With their senses limited, their fighting ability would be decreased.
Of course, in any normal situation they would also have the same debuffs, however they had Joe.
August immediately felt the change. Instantly, all 5 of his senses were suddenly enhanced. He could hear the heavy sounds of breathing around him, even the slight tremble in these breaths. He could also see much easier through the heavy musty fog that had surrounded the island.
'This fruit is really useful.'
His Haki notified him that the Germa 66 troops landed on the island. As they got closer, the sounds of roaring footsteps were heard which drowned out the rest of his noise around him.
*BAM*
Using a combination of observation Haki and his enhanced senses, August easily had the biggest advantage in this battlefield. He had already crushed a soldier's face before he could react, and he didn't plan on stopping.
These soldiers were not even human, just mindless entities forced to obey Judges commands. August wouldn't lose any sleep over killing them.
As he fought his way through the battlefield, slaughtering enemy after enemy, he finally felt the larger presence he sensed beforehand get closer to him.
*SLAM*
A large figure in green slammed down onto August's fist, pushing with tremendous amounts of force.
'Strong.' He noted as he felt the full power of the punch on his arm. His body started glowed as he looked at the figure who had been so brazen to attack him, and instantly recognised him.
It was Yonji, the 4th son of Judge.
"Hehe…Don't think some smoke will disable me, I can still see clearly!" The arrogant voice bragged, giving the vibes of a typical young master.
"Winch!" Yonji extended his other arm forward, letting off the strange mechanism which extended his hand.
August ducked and dodged the mechanical hand aimed for his throat.
He activated his Shatter energy, the action coming faster than ever before.
The energy around his fist bubbled and expanded before August thrust his fist towards the stomach of the green haired man.
Yonji jumped backwards, moving out of the way of the fist by blowing hair. Just as he was about to taunt his opponent, he felt a strange tug at his stomach.
The strong fabric which made up his raid suit was instantly ripped apart under the forces of August's shattered energy, pushing all the way into his stomach.
*BLEGH*
Yonji spit out a glob of spit as he was sent flying backwards. He quickly readjusted himself, using the powers of the raid suit to hover in the air.
"Looks like you're stronger than expected." Yonji grinned in false confidence. "I'll have to use my full strength."
He immediately stopped hovering, activating the accelerators in his feet to burst towards August. The muscles under his suit bulged and increased in size as he threw a fist towards his opponent.
*BOOM*
August blocked the attack with his forearm covered in black. Still, he felt the shockwaves of the attack pass by his body because of the pure amount of pressure behind Yonji's punch.
He coated both his fists in Haki and began throwing a series of kicks and punches towards the emotionless machine.
Yonji swiftly dodged the attacks with his superhuman speed, but he soon felt he was being forced back.
As the attacks increased in speed, Yonji struggled more and more while August remained concentrated in his pursuit.
"Tch." He swung his cape, activating the shield which allowed it to block the overwhelming attacks of August.
'Looks like it's time to get serious.'
He coated his fists in Shatter energy, allowing him to instantly break the shield and punch the arrogant man.
*DING*
When his attack connected, August felt like he was hitting steel. He pushed more energy into his attack, feeling the metal like bones crack under the blow of his attack.
Due to his modified body, Yonji didn't feel the pain a normal body would have felt, only the feeling of his jaw being broken.
His winch was activated, sending the metallic chain to August's throat again. However, just as his winch hit his opponent, a loud ding sound and the winch passed off him with no harm.
"What!" He said in shock.
He grabbed the winch and crushed the contraption effortlessly, only serving to piss off the seemingly emotionless Yonji even more so.
His tiny brain couldn't compute what was happening, so that confusion morphed into anger.
"YOU BASTARD!"
August stared impassively at the towering fist that grew closer and closer to his face. However, instead of dodging the attack like normally, his eyes lit up and decided to take advantage of the situation.
'Looks like a perfect time to try it.'
The area around his fingers were coated in a fluid like trail of Shatter energy. He lifted his hands up in a manner similar to Garou as he narrowed his eyes.
*SLAM*
As the punch hit him, he moved his head backwards to take away some of the force. He twisted his body, using all the energy from Yonji's punch and transferring it into his attack.
*BOOM*
August's fist, carrying a brimming amount of energy shot into Yonji's face. The effect was immediate, as August felt no resistance as his attack completely crushed Yonji's face, leaving it a stump.
"Phew…" He sighed in relief, looking at the product of his creation. Yonji's face looked gruesome and mushed, a contrast to the smug face he had moments before.
"Looks like it worked." He muttered to himself, but now was the time to relish in his achievements, there was still a fight to be had.
