Chapter 76: Frost?...Hell No!
In the middle of the night, two shadows could be seen running. Kentaro and Mū were only one country away from reaching the land of lighting.
Kentaro was only hoping that what he was reading on the map was an exaggeration from the one who had named the country.
The map called it the land of frost. Kentaro didn't want to get near cold weather since the time he left the land of snow.
They even stayed one whole week in the land of hot water, the sudden change would be too extreme.
"Why is the wheater getting colder? Kentaro, you didn't tell me what our next destination is."
What Kentaro feared the most happened. The weather was really getting colder and they were fifty kilometers far from the border.
"The next destination you say...well, it's the land of frost." Kentaro's words resounded like thunder in Mū's ears.
He stopped and looked at the ground, tears began falling from Mū's eyes.
"Tell me you're lying, Kentaro. I...let's return to the hot springs, okay?" Kentaro was taken aback by how Mū was behaving.
"Man, stop acting. We don't have time to waste." Kentaro patted Mū's back and began running.
Mū wiped his tears and hurriedly followed closely behind Kentaro.
The two of them parcoured the whole fifty kilometers in three hours. The closer they got, the colder it got.
The air became even colder than in the land of snow. The two of them were trembling like chickens who had lost lost their feathers.
In front of them, fields covered in frost. Kentaro's red kimono had become white and Mū's bandages had become stiff.
"FROST?" Mū placed his hand on his head showing how desperate he was.
"HELL NO!"
"HELL NO!"
The two of them looked at each other and said the same thing at the same time. They weren't willing to travel through the frost.
"How can we get to the land of lightning without going through the land of frost?"
This was a good question from Mū, Kentaro opened the map and checked.
"We have another option, north of here, we find a boat and take the sea to the land of lighting."
Mū was really in a dilemma, he couldn't swim and he didn't want to enter the land of frost. He had to make a choice nonetheless.
"Let's go north and find a boat, but if we fall to the sea...."
"Don't say that you mummy! you're gonna curse us before we even embarked on a boat."
Kentaro didn't mind taking a boat, the thing was that it was nighttime. Traveling at night in the sea was never a good idea, but it was that or nothing.
The duo ran north, they were still in the land of hot water, they were just extremely close to the land of frost's border.
Thirty minutes was what it took for them to arrive near the sea. The sound of the moving water made Mū's heart beat harder.
"It's so dark that we can't see, create a little flame, will you?" Kentaro wanted to have a better look.
With one hand seal, Mū created a little flame on his finger.
"Hey, are you serious? What are you even illuminating with that little flame!?"
"You asked me to create a little flame and I did. What are you complaining for?" Mū felt really offended.
With all his willpower, Kentaro managed to stop himself from slapping Mū to death.
The little flame on his finger disappeared, Mū formed countless hand seals. Kentaro knew what jutsu he was going to use.
'Fire style: Fireball Jutsu.' The flames came out from Mū's mouth and formed a fireball.
He sent the fireball straight towards the water. While the fireball traveled, it illuminated the vicinity.
"There's a little wooden boat." Kentaro spotted the boat, it didn't have the best state possible.
"Let's get on it." Mū walked to the boat and placed on foot inside. It looked strong enough.
Kentaro sat in the little wooden boat and Mū did the same. There was just enough place for the two of them.
"Mū, create two stone paddles. Prepare your two weak arms, you're gonna suffer."
The two stone paddles were pretty heavy, Mū lightened them by using the light-weight rock jutsu.
Like this, Mū and Kentaro were riding the little wooden boat in complete darkness.
In Mū's mind, they were riding the boat in a random direction. He noticed how Kentaro was moving his head in all the senses while looking around him.
Kentaro was trying to have a good look on the map, but the turbulence made the boat shaky. That's why he couldn't have a good look on the map.
'That freaking map is shaking in all the senses just like the boat. Anyways, we need to go east.' Kentaro removed the map.
"We need to ride the boat east." Kentaro pointed his finger where he thought that the east was.
"Are you sure that you know where the east is? We can't see further than three meters in the dark." Mū was getting a strange feeling, the feeling that they were in deep shit.
"Haha, you worry too much. I, Kentaro Fujimoto, have everything under control!" Kentaro gave Mū a little blink.
This didn't reassure him a bit, it even worried him more than what he already was.
The boat slowly disappeared in the darkness of the night. The more they traveled, the more Kentaro felt that something was off.
"Hey, Mū. Give me your paddle." Kentaro turned around to look at Mū.
"Where....WHERE THE FUCK IS THIS BASTARD!?" he had completely disappeared, Mū was nowhere to be seen.
Kentaro stood up in panic, there was maybe an enemy lurking around. He prepared to face whoever made Mū disappear.
He felt something warm in his neck, Kentaro knew that there was someone behind him. He slowly turned his head and saw it.
A mummy making a scary face, Kentaro jumped from fright. He was not ready to see something like that.
"HAHAHAHAHA! BEHOLD THE POWER OF I, MŪ!"
"You little shit! You think that's its fucking fu-...you hear that?" Kentaro quickly stopped yelling at Mū.
He heard the sound of a big wave. The wooden boat began shaking violently, Kentaro and Mū were losing their balance.
"A wave! Watch out Kentaro." before Mū could do something, the wave fell on the little boat.
It was so heavy, the water slapped Kentaro so hard that he lost consciousness.
Everything went dark.
