Chapter 87: Chapter 87 - Background Moves
In a hidden location near Amegakure, in front of a demonic statue, a earthen-coloured humanoid entity with a mummified appearance, a body shaped similar to a robe, and a number of spike-like protrusions on its back, the statue has nine eyes the size of an adult man of which 3 are opened, and shows a light blue iris, the statue's wrists and ankles are usually bound by shackles and it bites down on a scroll.
In front of this statue there are three figures, one of them is a young man with orange spiky hair, donning the Akatsuki cloak, and he has six piercings, a metal bar through each ear, three studs through the side of its upper nose, and one spike stud on each end of the bottom lip, but his most catching feature is his eyes, are liliac and have concentric circles covering the eyeball, he is Pain with his fabled Rinnegan.
Then there is another man with black hair and an orange mask with a spiral pattern focused around his right eye, he is wearing an Akatsuki Cloak, and next to him is a man with a black and white face, green hair, yellow eyes and a Venus flytrap-like extensions that emerged from their sides, enveloping their head and upper body as a shell, which they were able to open and close, he too is wearing the Akatsuki cloak, and of course they are Black Zetsu and Obito, or as they are know now Zetsu and Tobi.
The first to talk was Zetsu "Tobi we have a problem, I couldn't find Itachi anywhere, and when I searched around his usual places, I found the totally destroyed Uchiha Hideout, with clear traces of fighting there, he probably fought with his little brother, after he got out of Orochimaru's control, now there are two possibilities, one Itachi won, took his eyes and now he is resting, but I wasn't able to find him, so the second is more probable, his real plan worked and he died".
And Tobi said "Shit, this is too soon! I had plans for the kid, let's hope we still have time to contact him..." and Pain "Unlikely, our source says that when he fought Orochimaru he was helped by that group called Baransa...Zetsu were you able to find anything?".
And Zetsu "No those bastards have many hideouts, and I found some of them, but the problem is that they use them only as teleportation point to their true HQ" then Tobi "With Sasori, Deidara and Itachi lost, it seems that I have to officially join, to not slow down the progress, I'll team up with Kisame, and hunt down the Sanbi..." .
Then Pain said "Wait before going, I received the news that Kakuzu and Hidan almost caught the Niibi, so we soon can start the extraction" and Tobi "Very well, so now we are one step closer" then he disappeared goining in his dimension, while Zetsu disappeared underground.
Meanwhile, team Kakashi and Gai finally reached Konoha, and stood in front of the famous Tatsumi Gate, once there, Gai carries Kakashi to the Hospital, as he is still drained by his use of the Mangekyo Sharingan, while Naruto, Sakura and Neji went to report to the Fifth Hokage Tsunade.
Once in the Hokage office, they reported and when they talked about the info given by Sasori about his spy, Tsunade sends Neji away then she says "This info is too obsolete, I have received the report of Sasuke joining force with another organization and of them killing Orochimaru..."
And Naruto loudly asked "And now where is he? What is he doing? Is he coming back?" while Sakura let out a sigh of relief, and Tsunade answered "I do not know what he intends to do now, but the group that attacked Orochimaru's hideout and took Sasuke with them, it does have a good reputation, but more important we have recievided the coordinate for a meeting point, with them where they will gave us some important information on Akatsuki..."
And once again Naruto "Where is it? I want to go and tell Sasuke to come back..." and Tsunade replies "It is at the Tenchi Bridge but you will move tomorrow, when Kakashi's replacement will be chosen...after all he will be down for a week, now go and rest I want you in your top condition"
After that Tsunade was called by the elders, where they talked about limiting Naruto's movement because of the increasing Akatsuki's threat, Then Tsunade talked about the fact that she was about to send Naruto and Sakura to another mission to identify and contact a spy in Orochimaru's organization, as the new of his demise was know only to her and Ren's team, after that the conversation changed and Danzo made his entrance and with the elders help him put one of his ninja in Naruto's team.
'These bastards are moving exactly like Ren said they would...putting a ROOT member near Naruto and Sakura, so that he can both receive information and influence the events as he like...and these old fool let him do anything he wants, and the village as a result gets weaker and weaker...but now I got you by the balls, and I'm just waiting for the moment to crush them' thought Tsunade while putting a false resistance to the elders and Danzo's plan.
Then she went back to her office and called for one of her ANBU to take the place of Kakashi and gave him the name Yamato, she also warned him about keeping an eye on the ROOT member, while explaining the objective of the "mission", then she dismissed him.
As she returned home just as she was about to go to sleep a black butterfly posed on her shoulder with a scroll in its limbs, Tsunade took the scroll and read it, then her eyes opened wide.
'Hidan...medium-length grey hair...big scyte...immortal... expert in jujutsu...do not let him drink your blood, Kakuzu...tan-skinned man with long dark-brown hair...eyes had an unusual colouring, green irides, no pupils and red sclerae...very old experienced...masterd all Chakra natures...five heart...need to be killed 5 times...Konan...Hoshigaki Kisame...Zetsu...'
On it there are the identities and abilities of all the current members of the Akatsuki, and what particularly caught her eyes were two names underlined in the scroll 'Pain...possess Rinnegan...Tobi...presented himself as Madara Uchiha...!!!'
To say that she wasn't shaken by the strength of Akatsuki would be fake, but with this information they could prepare and exploit some of their weaknesses. The next day she called Naruto and Sakura, and told them about that their mission was to "capture Orochimaru's spy" and then send them to meet their new teammates.
Meanwhile in the HQ in the Land of Whirlpool, after an awkward reunion between brothers that ended in a tap on the forehead and some crying, a new photo on the Hall of Shame, and a furious dance evading a double Amaterasu, Ren and Karin start the operation to exchange the eyes of Itachi and Sasuke.
After the successful operation, while the Uchiha brothers were asleep recovering, Ren and the others had dinner together, and Ren noticed that Haku and Yakumo were giving each other some furtive glance, while Zabuza was drinking with Isobu, Jugo chatting with Peri and Dosu, and Karin was trying to feed him, then after the lively dinner everyone went to their room to sleep...almost everyone as Ren's room was once again invaded Karin
