Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Audtitions (2)
The first to walk in the room was a woman that appeared to be in her late teens or early 20s. She had silvery-white hair and blue eyes as well as a curvy figure. When she walked into the room, she instantly attracted the attention of every.
"Hello, everyone. My hero name is Riptide but I also go by Leanna Creel," the woman introduced herself
Everyone that came in knew that if they made it onto the team, their identities would need to be provided to the company but it was not necessary to do this before one passed the audition. This meant that Leanna was either very confident or nervous and forgot about this after it was explained to her.
Besides Sentry, there were 2 other men and a woman also judging. The younger male judge asked the first question.
"You have hydrokinesis? To what degree?"
"Um, I would say a very high degree. I can pull the moisture out of the air with little trouble and living beings with more difficulty. If I already have water present, I am truly a monster if I'm being honest. If there is ever a battle near or in a body of water, I'm confident I can take on villains normally above my level."
"Do you have any hero or team experience?" the other male judge asked
"Yes," Leanna nodded. "I have both. I have been a member of the Youngblood but have also done some solo hero work after I left the team."
"Why did you leave the team?" the female judge asked
Hearing this question, Leanna lowered her head as if she did not want to answer. And if she was being honest, Leanna actually prayed that they would not ask her this question.
"I... I posed agreed to pose for some nude pictures in Pussicat Magazine but before I even took them, I was fired from the team," she said with embarrassment. "The magazine also canceled my contract when they found out the team dropped me so I never took the pictures and regret it," Leanna quickly added on, afraid this would cost her a position on the team
Sentry nodded his head when he heard this. Although he was never a fan of Youngblood, he had heard a few things. They went through a few leaders that each had different ideas on the team. One, in particular, was a hardass that expected only the best. And Leanna got kicked off for this exact same thing.
'If I remember correctly, she actually rejoins the team later but dies on a mission or something. Either way, she should be pretty good.'
"No need to worry about that. HOMRA is also planning to expand into the entertainment industry as well and expect our heroes to also have a part in this. Whether you want to model or other such activities on the side is fine as long as it goes through the company first," the woman comforted
Leanna nodded her head like a chicken. She was afraid that her agreeing to be a model would get her rejected on the spot, not that it would increase her chances. Sentry and the others ask her a few more questions before voting on the spot.
Sentry got 2 votes while each of the managers got one. Conner could also override the votes of the other judges and directly choose one member if he wanted to.
When Leanna got all 5 votes, she could not help but have her eyes redden. She loved being a hero but knew she could not be at her best on her own. She needed a team behind her.
Leanna was then told to sit down on the side of the room while the assistant called in the next hero. The judges went through 7 more people until they found another suitable member.
It was a young man that went by the codename, Slate. His name was Bobby Blackthorne and was a member of the famous Blackthorne crime family. Wanting to break away from his criminal family and past, he decided to try out for the team.
Slate could transform into a rock-man hybrid form that granted him a large amount of strength, durability, and stamina. He was allowed onto the team with a 3-2 vote. The female and older male judges were against Slate joining but Sentry and the younger male judge felt he would be a member.
The next person to join the team came right after slate. Her name was Zephyr. She was the famous problem child of the even more famous Noble family. They were a family of heroes that were 2nd only to the original Guardians of the Globe in terms of fame. Zephyr was known for loving to date and dump I.T. boys as well as being very promiscuous and a flirt.
Sentry knew that this was just the persona she presented in public to rebel against her family. The real Zephyr was much more down-to-earth and friendly. She was a decent aerokinetic as well.
'If I remember correctly, she ends up sleeping with one of the Blackthornes before giving birth to a baby that ends up becoming her brother in law when she marries a different Blackthorne. This girl has such a complicated love life but she is powerful and useful. She will be an asset to the team just like she was to Invincible as a member of the pact.'
She was also voted into the team with a 3-2 vote. Both of the male judges voted against her while Sentry and the female judge voted for her. With that, the team got their 3rd member.
The judges went through another 14 people before they found their second to last member. She went by the name, Necromancer. The girl, Abigail, was only 16 so it made her the youngest on the team. Her parents were killed by a demon.
Abigail was a young magic-user without much experience. Although she was a newbie and did not seem very skilled, Sentry felt she had potential. Being a magic user was also a rare skill set which made her value much higher even if she was a weak one. She was added to the team with a 4-1 vote.
The final member was Rengoku Kyōjurō. He was a very passionate young man with little hero experience. He also had no powers. But the determination and passion in his eyes was something that no one else could match. His skills with the sword were also exceptional.
All of the judges except Sentry declined him a spot on the team but Sentry used his one entry pass to allow Rengoku on the team and even made him the leader. When he did this, everyone else was shocked but Sentry ignored them.
His eyes were only one Rengoku.
"Don't let me down. I'm placing my bets on you."
