Chapter 80: Merry. Not a Ghost.
Merry jumped around Thirteen, giggling as Thirteen watched her, feeling a sense of awe.
He had never seen a ghost before!
Merry jumped through Thirteen and spun on the deck, giggling "You're so funny!" Thirteen was confused by that and Merry giggled at him.
Meanwhile!
The other Thirteen stood up with wide eyes, he stood straight as a rob, staring at Merry through Thirteen's eyes. His entire being shivering in disbelief, his expression was plastered with shock before it transformed!
His expression went from shock to thoughtful.
Before he held his face and threw his head back in wild laughter, the sound of his eerie laugh was piercing and triumphant.
As if he had figured out some sort of secret.
Outside~
Thirteen was still perplexed as to what Merry was giggling about. She stopped and looked at him, saying "Big dummy, I need to fix myself. Are you gonna stand there or are you gonna help me?" Thirteen nodded and Merry handed him the hammer in her hand.
He reached out and she dropped the hammer, it fell through Thirteen's hand and to the deck. He looked down at it as Merry fell backwards and burst out laughing, holding her stomach, while Thirteen stood there.
He wasn't quite sure what to do.
Luckily for him, the rest of the crew showed up and they gasped at the ghost.
Luffy was stunned and dematerialized, reconstructing next to Merry, shouting "A REAL GHOST!" Merry flipped and shouted "I'm not a ghost!" Luffy shouted "IT TALKED!" Merry jumped at him and shouted back "I'M NOT A GHOST!"
Luffy was stunned and Merry started a dust brawl.
Zoro said in shock "He's fighting a ghost!" before getting dragged in by a ghostly hand. Zoro grabbed Sanji's leg and dragged him into the dust brawl too. Sanji grabbed Chopper, who grabbed Usopp, who grabbed Thirteen, who lifted his leg making Usopp's grab miss.
Usopp cried "Top 10 anime betrayals!" as he disappeared into the big dust brawl.
Robin walked over and asked "Is it really a ghost?" Nami was wrapped around Thirteen's arm, shaking "It-It's n-not, right?!" White hopped over before slipping on the deck and rolling into the dust brawl.
Thirteen pointed at the figurehead and then at the dust brawl, Robin gasped "It's the ship?!" Nami added "Merry's spirit!?" Thirteen pointed at the hammer and Nami gasped "She was fixing herself?!" Robin muttered "Wow."
Thirteen stayed silent and the girls stared at the dust brawl in awe.
The dust cleared and Merry stood on top of the rest, flexing her small ghost… spirit arms. She bounced over to Thirteen and giggled "I beat 'em! Hee hee~" before floating up and sitting on Thirteen's shoulders, wiping her forehead and throwing her hands in the air.
The guys groaned and rolled over, laying on the deck.
Luffy sat up and chuckled "What are you anyway?" Merry said "I'm Merry!" The guys were stunned and looked at Merry in shock, Luffy smiled widely and opened his arms, stretching them out, grabbing Merry and hugging her tightly.
Merry was stunned and Luffy chuckled "Nice to finally meet you, Merry." Merry trembled and the rest of the crew smiled, except Thirteen who just blinked.
She dropped little white beads and sobbed "Nice… to… meet you guys too… waaaaaaah~!" the crew teared up a little and hugged Merry.
She started talking about all kinds of things, wiping her eyes from the tears.
Thirteen sat around and looked at the sky, the stars looked extra bright tonight.
After a while of talking, Merry said that she needed to start repairs. The crew immediately offered to help, but Merry said that she had to do this herself. Nobody could help, it was her own thing.
They understood and left one after the other.
Thirteen looked at Merry fixing herself with suspicions. If she had to do it herself, then why did she ask him to help earlier? Was it just for the joke? Merry turned back and smiled at him, waving her small hand before going back to working.
He forgot about it and assumed it was for the joke as he followed the rest of the crew back to the campsite to sleep. He rolled over on the grass and muttered "Shut up." to the incessant laughing in his mind.
The other him chuckled and went silent, Thirteen opened his eyes and narrowed them before going back to sleep.
Whatever the other him was planning, he would deal with it when the time came.
When the morning came, the Merry was fixed and Merry herself was gone. The crew was disappointed but continued on their journey regardless.
Nami, Sanji, and Usopp group up to take the Merry out of the Upper Yard, while Luffy, Thirteen, Zoro, Chopper, and Robin group up to find the City of Gold.
The group split and started walking in the jungle.
Thirteen was looking around as he walked when a giant snake came out of nowhere and smashed the spot where they were walking, splitting everyone up. Thirteen was sent flying in the sky and spiraled over the treeline far away from the rest of the group.
His expression was blank as he didn't expect a snake to come out of nowhere. White was holding onto Thirteen's hair and spinning in the hair as they flew away in the sky.
