Chapter 2: Rise of the Acolytes

During the time the wedding took place in the village where Alastair had gone to attend, the peacekeeper base were following their normal schedule , sending out soldier's for assignments, recruiting voluntary members and assisting villages that required help. During this time some of the peacekeeper guards were keeping a look out for any threats, as not many kingdoms shared their version of using powers for peace, but due to their fear of Alastairs ability they couldn't openly attack them so they would use cowardly attacks like hit and runs, attacking villages that were with the peacekeepers and other cowardly attacks. So lookouts were placed on the walls for detecting threats. one of these guards, was performing his daily patrol when he noticed a hooded figure walk out of the woods and into the open field , Almost as if he wanted to reveal himself on purpose , the guard didn't notice this and shouted at him" hey you their ,stop" , but the figure kept walking slowly towards the base walls. The guard then lifted his right hand in the air," this is your final warning, stop right there and remove your hood". Still no reply from the hooded figure as he was getting closer to the base walls. The Guard then took a deep breath and started focusing energy on his arm, the wind around arm started to flow rapidly, as it was slowly forming the shape of a spear, with high concentration of wind flowing in side it. As the spear was being formed, the hooded figure who was almost at the wall slowly took out his hand to press against the wall but the guarded didn't wait any further and threw the wind built spear at the figure. The spear moved in a precise direction as if it was being controlled , this was due to wind inside of it that was being controlled by the guard. Before the figure could touch the wall the spear hit it straight in the chest sending it flying back and pinning it against the forest tree. "Bullseye" the soldier said after nailing his attack, But the hooded figure started twitching as if it was trying to break of from the tree . As the spear was still connected to its chest the figure kept moving causing the spear to press further into him, as the guard thought it was suffering and wanted to grant it a quick death. But soon the hooded figure moved forward causing the spear to break its upper torso. The body fell and the spear disappeared, but the guard felt nauseous after seeing the bodies reaction, he immediately yelled for backup. And some of the lookout and other peacekeepers ran to his Aid, As the guard was yelling he noticed that the figures dismembered torso started merging with its lower body. This made him realize something*wait why wasn't it bleeding, it got chopped in half but there was no blood.* Soon the clothing on the figure fell of revealing it to be a human skeleton, with its lower jaws missing and green light emitting from its eye socket. Soon the creature started walking again towards the base wall unshaken by the events that took place . This terrified the guard but he was calmed by a fellow soldier. Then the soldier gave the command for the rest of the peacekeepers to attack, different weapons made entirely of natural elements flew at the creature but the creature raised its right hand emitting a green bubble around it. When the magic attacks collided with the bubble , an explosion covered , covering the battlefield with smoke. the peacekeepers thought that they defeated the threat but when the smoke cleared the bubble was unharmed and the skeleton creature stood there with not even a scratch. Soon its eyes started glowing as it threw its arms in the air , portals started appearing in the ground and smaller skeletons appeared , these skeletons started running to the walls while the guards tried to shoot them down. The summoned creatures were easily being taken down but they were more coming out of the portals. One of the commanding officers yelled at one of the guards to sound the alarm. When the alarm went off all of the peace keepers soldiers were preparing defenses while others were going to provide back up at the walls where the fight was still going. Marco and his blonde friend were also running to provide support. The blonde friend then stopped him and said" you try to get support from the other bases ill help with the defense," Marco nodded and ran to one of the communication tower while yelling back to his friend" be careful Will we don't know who it is" . The blonde known as will nodded and ran to the defenses while equipping his bow and arrows. When Marco reached the communication room he saw several officers trying to work up the communication crystal, which was a giant purple crystal. But for some reason it wasn't lit up , Marco turned to the nearest officer and asked him" why haven't we called for support", the officer replied" the crystal is losing strength and something jamming the signal". Marco was shocked* losing power ?, wait this was planned*. Marco then pointed to a guard, "you there , tell Will that there's something disabling our communication, tell him to find the source." As Marco said this , he gave the guard a piece of the communication crystal and said "also give him this". The guard exited the room and ran to the battlefield where will and all the peace keepers were fighting the skeleton army by themselves, now some of the peacekeepers were fighting on the ground with them .While one of the knights was fighting a skeleton another one was about to attack him from the back , as it opened its jaws to bite the knight ,an arrow went though it narrow neck causing its spine to break off and collapse. The knight looked back to see Will taking aim again and taking down several skeletons with head shots. Will was one of the ability users, that gave him a different style in combat as compared to magic users. His ability was known as eye of the wolf, this ability allowed him to zoom in on targets with his own natural sight ,also it could be used to trace energy sources. When the guard came to him and told him everything, Will asked for the crystal, As soon as he grabbed it will was able to see a trace of green energy connected to the crystal, he followed the trace using eye if the wolf and found out that the source of it all was the cloaked skeleton in the middle but the beast was still summoning more beasts . The green trail was coming out of the skeletons right eye. *probably is what's causing the distortion. * Will thought, he then turned to the guard and told him" tell Marco I found the source" , he then pointed to the skeleton beast that was summoning the beasts. " We just need to take him out ,the right eye is the weakness" Will said while readying his bow, but the guard stood their worryingly" but his too far away and his protected by those things , we don't have any archer who can fire from that range" the guard said. But Will just smiled "your right ,no normal archer can cover that range" As he said this he fired an arrow at the sky as he continued" but I'm no normal archer" as the arrow flew off, the skeleton in the cloak felt something and looked up, as soon as it looked up, the arrow shot straight through its eye socket ,piercing through the green crystal inside it, the crystal started cracking and exploded. As soon as it exploded , the summoner died and all the portals closed. As soon as the peace keepers saw this they charged the skeletons at full strength and finished of the remaining beasts , The skeleton creatures were weak but had the advantage in numbers in the end a total of 56 peacekeepers had died from the battle. Will called Marco through the communication crystal he had " Marco ,you there , its over." but Marco was too horrified to respond quickly as he saw the transmissions coming to them with different voices. "This is peacekeeper base spear, we are under attack by strange skeleton beast beast we require assistance, " the transmission was followed by another" this is peacekeeper base arrow, we need help ,strange skeleton creature's have entered the base we need help." there were more transmissions The officers along with marco tried to respond but most of them weren't able to listen because of the jamming in their areas. It felt like those men were trapped in a hole yelling for help, but couldn't get any response. Marco tried to contact them but knew it was useless. Soon one voice spoke , it was Dark and deep sending shivers down Marco and the rest of the officers
