Chapter 197: Battle of flames and walking corpses part 5
Rufus was dead tired. Berig was getting closer with the earth getting scorching hot.
The monster raised its large ax up in the air. Rufus dodged the incoming blow right on time. Its curved flaming swords tried to hit Rufus who kept dodging the attacks. He couldn't anymore use his divine power to disperse the flames.
He was getting slower and slower. One attack came so close, that it burned his jacket, leaving him shirtless.
Rufus's body was aching and hurting all over with his body with his old burn marks being visible to everyone.
Rufus tried to create more divine spheres, but the ones he created were smaller than his normal ones. When he threw them at Berig, they vanished midway, not doing any harm.
One flaming hand came forth from underneath the earth and grabbed hold of Rufus's leg. Rufus yelled as his leg was getting burned badly and tried to get rid of it.
Then a curved blade was coming at his head. He had to stop it with his hands, but he was too weak to disperse the blade.
He was stuck as the flaming creature stared with its two eye holes. It lifted its large ax.
Rufus tried his best to conjure up more divinity, but he was too weak. He was bashing like crazy, trying to get rid of the hand that was holding him down.
For Berig, he thought he had finally won, but it wasn't so.
As the ax was about to hit him, the time stopped. Rufus saw feathers made from pure divinity, floating around him. He saw that wings made from his own divine power had come forth from his back.
These wings had blocked the ax that was coming down on him. They were made from the same energy as the divine spheres.
As time continued to move forward once more, the wings pushed back the ax and lifted Rufus in the air.
Berig was as confused as Rufus as to how the wings had manifested.
Before Rufus could do anything, the wings lifted him in the air. They had a mind of their own that went to attack Berig's fire creature.
Without any control from Rufus, the wings bashed Berig's flaming weapons.
All and any flames simply vanished with just a simple touch from the wings. These wings tried to reach Berig who was now only focusing fully on defense.
Berig was getting desperate and went for an all-out attack, but when he did, the wings flapped their wings in a large motion. It released feathers made from pure destructive divine energy. As these feathers flew through the air, it dispersed all the flames and divine energy around Berig leaving him completely unguarded.
One of the wings then slashed at Berig, destroying one of his legs and hands.
Berig fell to the ground wounded and bleeding badly as the wings dispersed into thin air. Rufus still couldn't explain the wings, but also couldn't let this chance slip by.
He was too exhausted to conjure any more divine spheres or use any of his divine powers. He looked around and grabbed a sword from the ground. He then placed it on Berig's throat and gave him an ultimatum.
"The war is over...." Rufus said and stared at the wounded Berig.

At the same time, Cixilo was fighting at the frontline against the friends of Rufus.
One of the puppets of Yosef was melted down by the acids of Leia Cassia. Pema was having a hard time keeping his carbon armor on. Doreen's spear or Amala's arrows didn't harm or stop it.
It was not looking good.
At the same time, the varangians had gotten a morale boost and were fighting hard against the grey skin warriors. Something had to be done to save the battle.
Crystals started to form into the sky. These crystals covered a large area of the imperial army from above them. The soldiers looked up, not knowing what was going on. Cixilo, in his possessed corpse, also looked confused. He felt scared as he felt a huge amount of divine power, stronger than Berig even.
The crystals then rained down onto the varangians. The imperials were cut down with the crystals piercing them all over.
Cixilo cut down the crystals that were coming down on him. He was forced to dodge when a large crystal was about to fall right where he was standing.
As he did, he saw that a cage made from crystals started to form around him. He cut down the cage, but then the crystals rearranged and pierced him. Crystals then formed under his legs and devoured him.
He was trying to destroy it, but the crystals formed too fast. It caged him inside a large crystal.
Then the reserve human soldiers of the Fairfax kingdom came to finish off the rest of the varangians. The imperials on the left flank were completely routed, with their commander incapacitated and many of their comrades dead.
"You okay guys?" Haley said as she rushed towards her friends.
All of them felt useless. Haley had just single-handedly beaten the enemy that had caused them so much trouble.
