Chapter 4: Dreaming of Vampires & Wolves

IT WAS so dark where she was. Angeline slapped her palm on the top of the steering wheel. Anxiety registered on her face. The car she was driving stopped in an area where few people were around at that moment. It was only past eight o'clock in the evening.

A long sigh escaped her lips before reaching for her handbag. She picked up her cell phone from inside her bag.

"Hello, Pepito," she said when she heard the voice of a man on the other line. "My car broke down. I am close to the Living Camp foundation... "

"Yes, ma'am. I'll go and meet you there."

"Don't be too long. Just hurry. Hello? Hello...? "

She pressed the cell phone she was holding again, but it still didn't light up.

"Argh. It's a low bat. My, of all the time...? "She expressed her annoyance. She put it back inside her tote bag and slung the bag over her shoulder. She took the key and got out of her car.

Her hands clasped to her chest when she felt the cold gust of wind greet her. She was thankful that there was a full moon. Otherwise, it will be too dark where she is.

The post where there is light is very far from where she was standing. Very few people passed. Most of them were men. When she was startled by a young girl running, she seemed terrified. Then she saw a shadow running after the girl.

She felt suddenly nervous and cold. Her arms were in front of her, hugging herself. She looked around; the deafening silence seemed to herald an uncomfortable feeling. She was open to whatever might happen to her alerting brain. Sinister visions raced through her mind.

She started walking fast to where the light was. Then she suddenly pulled stop and was stunned when a bulk of the muscular body suddenly appeared and blocked her path.

Angeline's tongue twitched. She was in shock stared at the stranger for a moment when she noticed that two men were approaching them. They looked somewhat weird and smelled fresh blood, which almost made her puke. Their clothes were all black.

She managed to get away. She ran as fast as she could back to her car. But before she could open it, a different man in black was in front of her.

"W-what do you want?" She courageously asked. She continued to back away to keep the distance between the two of them as the man stared at her sharply.

He did not respond. Instead, keep on approaching Angeline. She was terrified to turn back to her car when his hand landed on her shoulder. She wanted to break free, but every movement she did its inflicting pain on her shoulder.

Astonishment registered on her face when she saw the gleaming white sharp fangs of the man. But not his face, which was in the dark.

She cried out in great fear when suddenly, someone grabbed the daring man and threw him on the grass.

My God! Is that a wolf...? Her mind was in a panic. And she slowly sagged and sat on the ground. She was leaning on the back of her car, watching in terror two bodies with different fighting each other. She could not see both of their faces. But she was sure the other one looked like a giant fierce wolf.

Angeline cried out loud and unceasingly when she saw her savior dug out the opponent's heart and turn to fumes. Then the big wolf faced her direction and started walking towards her. She closed her eyes tightly and started screaming in terror.

She felt both hands on her shoulder, and she felt a sting of a firm slap on her face. She screamed and opened her eyes when a hand covered her mouth.

"Hey... you're going to wake up, granny..."

"A-Ashley... w- what happened?" She asked in surprise. The slap that hit her cheek was still warm.

"I think you're having a nightmare," Alissa replied. She was standing at the foot of her bed.

"Yes, Angel. Your scream is so steady that you almost terrified us. So, I told Alissa to slap you hard because you won't wake up with a simple shake of your shoulders. "

"Oh... Thank God, it's just a bad dream, "she said as if out of her mind. "I thought I was at my end..."

"What did you dream about this time that you screamed like that? You sounded like slaughtered... "

"Is there something else she dreamed about, like her whole body is shaking like that?" Alissa spoke. "I'm sure she's dreaming of vampires and saved by a wolf-like she used to have."

"Y-yes..." She confirmed. "It's like the one in my dream... almost the same."

"That's what you get from listening to granny's vampire stories. That's why you dream of those monsters... "

"And your tendency to watch bloodsucker shows," Ashley added. "I think you're in love with a vampire or a wolf character.

"Stop admiring them and their superpowers because it's all just fiction. It's alive in the great mind of the writers who created vampires, wolves, and the like."

"Are vampires merely artificial, Alissa?" she asked, amazed. "Why do I often dream of them now? And that mysterious wolf that always saved me? "She noticed the two looking at each other. "How do you explain the hot news on the TV. What happened to the seven great lawyers who went to Romania to see Dracula's palace in person?"

"I'm not sure about that nor taking it seriously," Ashley retorted. "Maybe what happened to them is just the result of holiday spells. Who knows? They were all drunk, so they didn't realize they were all walking towards the forest."

"Oh, my gosh! Yeah, this is the right discussion for us. Wherever our conversation goes, even though I was dreaming."

"You could say that again. It's just a dream, but when you could shout so loud, I felt the creeps. It's like someone is going to kill you..." Alissa sat on the side of her bed laughing.

"It seems like it's true what happened..." She said, shaking her head. "I don't think I can go back to sleep."

"It's all right for me just to talk," Ashley suggested. "I will not be able to sleep again. Just thinking of grandmother's best friend is coming tomorrow with her only grandson."

"Argh..." Alissa burst.

Angeline and Ashley laughed in duet.

"I'm not the one to be chosen because I'm the youngest..." She replied with pride in her voice. "I will try to find a job in a hospital..."
