Chapter 62: Meeting Roger One Final Time

"And so, Oden killed Orochi after I distracted Kaidou" Dragon said to Percy.

It has been a month since Percy visited Wano and finally he heard news about the results of the battle.

"It took the combined effort of me and my men just to stall that man" Dragon recalled as pain still radiated throughout his body. "I mean, an actual dragon versus a Dragon, who would've thought it would be so hard to push that man back."

"That's Kaidou for you" Percy said as he sat back in his chair in Marineford. "So Orochi is dead for good, he has like multiple lives correct?"

"Nope. Each head represents a life. Oden and his scabbards successfully killed one head each. As for Kanjuro, it was obvious."

"Mmmm" Percy said as he continued to relax. "Did you get the devil fruits before going to Wano?"

"We did" Dragon answered truthfully. "We got two logias, the flame-flame fruit, and the rumble-rumble fruit. I did not distribute them yet until I have a commander who I can trust that does not have a devil fruit already. Logias are rare after all."

"Yeah, especially those two. The revolutionary army could benefit greatly from having those specific fruits."

"Indeed" Dragon said as the conversation seemed to die down.

As if noticing that, Percy tried to pick it back up,

"So Oden and Toki are safe then? With the kids?"

"Yeah, they are. Oden is officially the shogun once again and he even offered to let us have a base on Onigashima if we want."

"What about his dream about opening up the borders of Wano?" Percy asked

"He still wants to do that, but that will require several years of negotiation with the world government plus the approval of the gorosei. It won't be for a while either way leaving with us some time to develop connections inside Wano before government intervention."

"Good, good" Percy said nodding his head, "that would be for the best. Wano is the only country that I can think of that can produce sea stone handcuffs and bullets so getting our hands on those as well will be beneficial for the revolutionaries."

"Is there anything else?" Dragon asked as he was about to hang up.

"What? Too busy to talk to an old buddy?" Percy said as he smirked into the den den mushi.

"Unlike some admirals who have administrative assistants that do all the hard work for them, I have to manage a growing naval presence all by myself. It's stressful you know?"

"You could delegate some of your lesser tasks to some other people. They can be trusted." Percy advised.

"In the future, for now though, no way. We need to ensure that the foundation is laid out perfectly and there is no lapse in judgement in the early stages of development."

"Your army" Percy said as he shrugged his shoulders. "That's it. I'm off to Impel down after I hang up anyways."

"Who're you looking for?" Dragon asked curiously.

"Oh that's right!" Percy said as he smacked his head, "They're going to announce it tomorrow, Gol D. Roger turned himself in yesterday and the navy is preparing to execute him."

"WHAT?!" Dragon shouted into the transponder

"Yeah" Percy said after the ringing stopped in his ears, "Roger turned himself in yesterday, so he's currently in Impel down waiting for an execution date."

"Your not going to bail him out?" Dragon asked.

"Me? No way. And blow my cover. Plus, he has an incurable disease anyways. He would've died pretty soon either way."

"How do you know?" Dragon asked suspiciously thinking yet again that Percy knew a little too much information.

"Because I had a talk with him before my trip to Wano" Percy said half telling the truth.

"So what are you going to Impel down for?"

"He requested to speak with me. Don't ask why, I don't know either."

"Let me know if I need to do anything" Dragon said before he he hung up

[I doubt that] Percy thought as he too put down the den den mushi, he had a feeling of what Roger wants with him.

***************************

"You really turned yourself in" Percy said as he sit down on the floor of Floor 6 in Impel down. Sitting across of him was the famed pirate king Gol D. Roger.

"HAHAHAHA, why not? I accomplished something that hasn't been done since the void century" Roger laughed as he saw Percy.

"I assume you talked with Garp already then?" Percy asked as he looked around and they were alone.

"Yeah" I had to take care of some final arrangements" Roger nodded seriously.

"Ace" Percy muttered under his breath. Fortunately, or not, Roger heard him

"What did you say?"

"Nothing" Percy said as he tried to change the topic, "Now-"

"Ace huh? I kinda like it" Roger smiled thinking of his unborn child.

"You requested to speak with me. We never had much interactions, not like you and Garp, not even you and Sengoku. So why am I here?"

"A favor" the pirate king said as a glint entered his eye. "I know that you can see somewhat into the future, but I want to ensure that my child lives peacefully until he fully matures."

"He will" Percy answered the unspoken question, "Garp will ensure that"

"I know. But, I want to take extra precautions. I want you to watch over Rogue until Ace's birth" Roger looked at Percy seriously. "I know you have connections with the revolutionary army, and therefore are enemies of the world government. You won't turn a blind eye towards a mother in need of protection will you?"

"... I can ask Dragon to protect the child and mother, but only for so long. Eventually, cp-0 or other organizations will get wind of who's protecting her and will start to chase her earnestly. I won't be able to protect them in the open you know."

"I realize that" Roger said with a sad smile on his face, "I only want to give Rouge a chance"

"Deal" Percy said as agreed. "Your favor will be repaid by Rayleigh or another of your crewmembers in the future, should me or Dragon request their assistance. In addition to that, I need Rouge's vivre card."

"Fine" Roger readily agreed as well and took a piece of paper from his sleeve and handed it to Percy across the cell. "Save my child" Roger said as Percy began to stand up.

"I will" Percy responded, "not because we are friends or anything, but because his existence alone is enough to shake the foundations of the world government. After all, the blood of the pirate king runs through his blood."

"HAHAHAHAHA true, true" Roger laughed as Percy's footsteps got quieter and quieter.

************************

"It seems like I'm relying on you more and more" Percy sighed into the den den mushi.

"Only because you yourself can't do these operations in the open" Dragon laughed as he was sitting in his office. "So what is it this time?"

"We need to meet up. I need pick someone up."

"Who is it?" Dragon's interest was piqued.

[Every time I get sent on these 'errands', something interesting always happens] Dragon thought to himself as he thought about where he was going next.

"To pick up Gol D. Roger's child" Percy dropped the bombshell.

"Oh....OH OHHHHHHH!!!" Dragon took a couple of seconds to come to the realization of what Percy was saying.

"Yeah, someone named Portgas D. Rouge is carrying Roger's child and we need to get our hands on him before the world government executes the both of them."

"I see. Do you have any clues?"

"Roger gave me her vivre card" Percy informed Dragon.

"Good. Let's meet up in Sabaody Archipelago is 2 days. That's the fastest I can get there." Dragon said as he set up a meeting.

"Make sure to tell her that after the child is born, she and her son will be brought to East Blue under the care of someone else. We are only responsible for making sure she gives birth to a healthy baby." Percy said.

"Who's taking care over from then on?" Dragon asked as he thought he would be taking on all responsibility.

"Your father" Percy said pointedly.

"My old man? So he's going back to the Goa kingdom then."

"Probably, one of the safest places in the world. Even though they are affiliated with the world government, they are so far away from any any strong pirates and marines that the child should be able to grow up relatively peacefully."

"I agree, if not I can always leave a couple of agents to watch over them both" Dragon said as he tried to figure out a game plan. He too quickly realized the importance of the pirate king's decedents and how it will impact the world one day.

"No need. If my guess is correct, Rouge should be plenty strong by herself, she just needs time to have a safe maternity and all should be well."

"Okay, plus my old man will be there to protect the both of them, no one is stupid enough to fight him anyways."

"True HAHAHAHAHAHA"
