Chester's face as expected darkened from Mia's rebuke but he just chose to shut his mouth
If the group were to have a fallout, he would be the one at a disadvantage as Mia is surely stronger than him
However, despite backing down, a dangerous glint still appeared in his eyes
That glint didn't escape Rezen's sharp eyes and he quickly raises his guard. A person that can show that dark glint in their eyes are certainly up to no good
As such, Rezen made sure to be as alert as he could. A single moment of carelessness might take his life
However, as much as Rezen was on guard, nothing much happened. Although Chester was still as distasteful as before, the man didn't do anything
Of course, Rezen was not too stupid to think that Chester would not do anything at all. The man might just be biding his time
Nightfall arrives but Chester still hasn't done anything. Rezen suspected that the man might have been waiting for night to arrive and poison their dinner
After all, Chester is a poison-style user. It would not be a surprise if he were to poison the group out of anger
However, despite watching Chester almost every second, the man didn't even bother to help prepare their food
With him not touching the food, how could he poison them?
Instead of feeling better, this just made Rezen more alert. The common tactics he thought Chester would use was not used by him
If that is the case then what could Chester possibly be thinking of doing?
The group of four people ate their dinner, most of them were together with Chester being the only person away from them
That made the atmosphere between the three harmonious and they had a peaceful supper
After finishing their dinner, the group then prepared to camp and sleep which didn't take that long
Mercenaries are used to sleeping in the wild and they can prepare their tents easily while Rezen is a quick learner
"I'll stand guard for the night" Chester volunteered a bit coldly at that
A slight glint appeared in Rezen's eyes after hearing that. He has a feeling that Chester would soon enact whatever evil plan he has
Contrary to what Rezen feels, Danny's eyes merely glowed with delight. He thought that after being scolded, Chester finally reflected and decided to make up for it by guarding the group for the night
The wilderness is beyond human influence. There would always be danger present inside it
As such, even when sleeping, mercenaries like them has to have at least one person to stand guard
That is a cumbersome task and most mercenaries dislike doing it
If someone were to volunteer to do such an unwanted task, the others would surely be more than happy to oblige
"Sure, sure! I knew it, you also have a soft spot inside you!" Danny agreed happily with a face full of smiles
It should have been his turn tonight to stand guard but since someone was offering, who is he not to agree, right?
In reply, Chester merely nodded his head with a smile but people with discerning eyes knew that his smile was completely fake. It even concealed cruelty inside them
With the arrangement of tonight settled, the group went to their respective sleeping bags to sleep
Maybe because they have been traveling for days but almost everyone slept easily, well, at least that is the case on the surface
Rezen has his eyes closed while trying to spy on Chester. However, the man was on top of a tree saying that it is easier to view arriving monsters in that position
Chester was right and the others cannot argue with that. However, Chester's position made it so that Rezen cannot see him clearly
Not to mention that it was nighttime, Chester was also using the branches and leaves to his advantage
Because of that, Rezen decided that he should be closer to the person he thinks would give him more security and that is none other than Mia
With his eyes closes, Rezen slowly wiggled his body to inch closer and closer to Mia
Even if mercenaries have strong senses and Mia was to wake up, Rezen can still justify his actions
He can just say that he is afraid and he wants to be closer to a strong person when sleeping for security
Rezen decided to be shameless until he judged that he is close enough to Mia and only then did he open his eyes
However, the first thing that he saw was Mia's eyes staring straight at him
"U-umm ... t-this ..." Rezen assumed his role of a timid young man. His cheeks blush a bit as if he was ashamed but Miam merely put a finger in her lips to shush him
"Don't make any noise" Mia said sternly as if she would make Rezen pay if he were to disobey
As such, the young man can only nod his head while staring at the woman with nervousness
Seeing that, Mia's countenance turned cold. "You can drop the act. A kid as timid as you are showing wouldn't possibly survive in the wilderness" she spat out with disdain
She completely sees through Rezen's acting. Although it was not expected, it was also not unexpected
After all, Mia seems to be different from the likes of Chester and Danny. She was smarter and also more dangerous
Rezen can judge that he would just earn the woman's displeasure if he continue acting and the naive aura around him vanishes
"That Chester, I'm sure he is up to no good" Rezen said and Mia as expected wasn't surprised at that
"I know" she merely replied before her eyes darted at Chester's direction
"Sister, what are your plans?" Rezen questioned and he felt better after seeing that Mia doesn't feel even an ounce of fear
"I'll kill him" Mia answered firmly
Although she was beautiful, her temper was far from being frail and naive. She even showed a great level of decisiveness
