Chapter 7: A Day Well Spent

Aurora jumped from bed, praying it was a dream but found him sleeping next to her. "Come out, Rory," kids kept calling her. "Coming," she called out to them and kicked Chris waking him up.

"What?" he asked, continuing to sleep. But he came back to his sense instantly. "Oh no," They had no idea what to do. Aurora hit him with the pillow and asked him to return the same way he came in. But it was morning, and there seemed to be many people down the road.

"I can't." He whispered.

"Aurora, come out for breakfast. I'm leaving the kids with you today. I have a meeting in my office today. I would get back only by the evening. Come out fast. I have got to get ready." Her sister said and left the door. Chris smiled widely. "Coming," Aurora said again and asked Chris to hide in the Wardrobe until she came to the room. "Am hungry," he whispered as she hurried out of the room. Aurora gave him a terrifying look that left him silent and walked out.

Aurora waited until her sister Kate was out and kept the children busy with craft works in their room. She slowly let Chris out of the room and called for kids to introduce the kids as if he had arrived home only then. It was easy to trick them, and Chris stayed there instead of going back. They both played with the kids running around and Playing hide and seek. That was Chris's first-ever experience with children. And he seemed to enjoy it thoroughly.

Soon Aurora returned to the kitchen to make lunch while she put the kids back in their rooms to study and do homework. Chris, on the while, helped her in the kitchen. He was acting childish, clinging to her hugging her and blocking her way from walking. "What? Stop Chris. Let me go take it." She told him who was hugging her from behind—keeping his chin on her shoulders. "Stop being childish. Cut it off," she said, turning towards him.

"What I can be this way only with you. So can't I ?" he asked her back.

"Why?" she asked, desperate to know. But Chris changed the topic playing with the flour she kept on the kitchen table, covering her with it. She had to run away and close the door to escape him. "Chris. Stop." She laughed. "We gotta feed these babies," she reminded. But he stood on the other side of the room door, waiting for her to come out with water this time. But she had to open the door. "No, don't," she screamed, and she dripped in water. For a moment, it was awkward when her clothes dripped in water, revealing her body. He turned away and walked back to the kitchen to avoid the situation. "Now the floor is dirty," she said, looking away and going back to her room again for changing. She was feeling delighted, though. Something she never experienced before other than being extremely happy after her first gig. She dressed up and stood to stare in the mirror, smiling until Chris knocked on the door.

She fed them all and put the kids to bed. But since their Rori aunt was home, they didn't sleep instead continued walking behind her. "They seem to adore you," he said while she changed them and combed the hair of the two girls. She smiled and said nothing. They all went to the backyard and lay on the green grass, watching the evening sky. Her sister wasn't home yet. The kids played around while Aurora and Chris kept lying down. "Compose one for me. And play it for only me one day." He said out of the blue.

"What?" she was startled. Aurora never thought Chris would enjoy her playing. She never imagined him to care about it. Her heart raised. She wished to believe what she heard. She looked at him, his earnest face looking up the sky. "Twilight," he said.

"What?" she asked.

"Look at the sky. Beautiful, isn't it? It's twilight already." He slowly searched for her hands and took them in his. She froze. Kids came and lay again with them. "Rori, don't go back, okay. Stay long, okay." The youngest one said in her broken sentences. She got up and gave the child a kiss. "I won't. I will stay till my class begins, okay. I promise." She replied childishly.

"Me too," Chris said.

"What?"

"Give me that too." He asked her childishly to kiss him and not leave him. Aurora was about to burst out laughing but controlled herself, knocking on his head.

"Who is this ?" a voice asked from behind. To their shock, Aurora's sister was back from work.

"Kate" Aurora went speechless.
