Chapter 9 – Another Contract

Crystal knitted her brows and closed her eyes. After a while, she inhaled deeply and sighed, "Three years, I can only allow that much!"

Due to an agreement, she made with someone, she badly needed to return in three years to a certain place. Therefore, even if the condition was lax, just trading her five-year freedom for a key, she decided to try bargaining.

"Deal! But you have to be more obedient." Jhin smiled as he agreed. The number of years doesn't matter, he just needed someone to guide him during his early days, the adjustment period. And for him, even a year is more than enough, he just set it as five years according to the Merchant's rule number six; During any trade, aim for the best condition and expect for bargaining. That was one of his secrets to riches.

Jhin was very confident. Not because of the system but because he has a clear goal. To kill one million creatures within a year and returned to Earth.

"Okay!" Crystal nodded. Then she lifted her hand and muttered an incantation. Before long, a crystalline magic circle formed between them. With a conflicted expression, Crystal started writing the terms in the contract, "In the name of the Moon Goddess, I, Crystal Lunae shall form a Master-servant contract with me as the servant. This contract will last for three years and will be in effect the instant I get the shrine key in his possession."

In response, Jhin hesitated. He didn't expect the existence of contract, he thought making someone their servant was just an agreement made through words. "Hey system, what is a master-servant contract?"

[Looking for description… Ding! Master-servant contract: A contract enabling an individual to form a link as master and a servant. A master is responsible for his/her servant's wellbeing while the servant must follow all the master's wishes.]

Reading the description, Jhin was stunned. He couldn't help but grinned, 'Does that mean that I can order her anything? Ahehe'

Without hesitation, he followed the instructions of the system. He dripped his blood into the magic circle, "In the name of the Moon Goddess, I, Jhin Herangel, shall now accept you as my new servant in exchange for the Army shrine key."

The instant his blood fell into the magic circle, a crescent moon rune appeared in the air. Then it was split into two, one went to crystal's wrist while the other half on him.

[Ding! Discover a master-servant contract, master rune. Do you want to integrate it?]

"Yes! Integrate the rune!" Jhin said. Originally, there were already three runes engraved on his left wrist. Two of which were in the shape of a key, the shrine keys. While the other key was in the shape of a coffin, the eternal coffin.

This time, another rune was imprinted next to the three – the crescent moon rune. Then, one of the shrine key runes flashed and it flew towards Crystal.

After the exchange, Jhin could feel a connection with Crystal through the crescent moon rune on his wrist. He has the feeling that as long as he willed it, he could instantly punish her.

"Good girl." Jhin smiled in satisfaction. "Now, unbind the rope on me."

"Okay!" Crystal nodded. As a servant, unless the command threatened her safety and well-being, she must follow all the master's orders. In case she didn't follow, the master could punish her through the contract.

"Get rid of the dust all over my body." Jhin said, he felt uncomfortable staying on the dirty ground for a long while already.

Without saying anything, Crystal cancelled the barrier and said behind her, "Hey Tritus, can you clean him?"

"Yes commander! Who is he by the way?" Tritus, with his staff walked next to Crystal. He was extremely curious as to what happened inside the barrier.

"He's a merchant who accidentally entered the battlefield." Crystal spoke. After realizing Jhin's intension of hiding his identity, Crystal decided to continue the act. Also, she has no plan of divulging the truth, that Jhin was a powerful being, the one who massacred the orc army. She fears that it might cause panic and complications to her soldiers.

"Oh?" Tritus frowned. He could feel something was amiss. He wanted to interrogate her but after further thought he realized that she must've her reasons. Shaking his head, he started chanting. Instantly, a small magic circle formed in front of him. A moment later, dozens of jellyfish made of water flew out from it. Then, these jellyfish attached themselves to Jhin, eating the dirt all over his body.

"Woah! What a wonderful magic!" Jhin exclaimed. He could feel a refreshing sensation wherever the jellyfish landed.

In but a minute time, all the dust on his body had disappeared. Tritus then casted a fire attribute magic over him, drying his robe and skin.

"Hey lady commander, how about giving me a princess carry?" Jhin said with a huge grin. He wanted revenge. The pain on his crotch was still fresh in his mind. Moreover, due to the repercussions of the possession, he couldn't move his limbs. As such, he needed someone to help him. He could summon an ink soldier to carry him but why would he do so when he could enjoy himself in the arms of a beauty? Her gorgeous servant.

Hearing Jhin's words, the frowning Tritus momentarily blanked. 'Does this merchant have a death wish?' he thought. As someone who grew up together with Crystal, Tritus knew some of her quirks. He was even scared as to how violent this woman could become when triggered.

Tritus opened his mouth and was about to reprimand the man, when suddenly… His jaw dropped to the ground. His eyes almost popped out from his sockets.

'Is this for real?' Tritus muttered in disbelief. He saw his prideful and violent best friend gritting her teeth and bent down to carry the man.

Under the envious and hateful glares of the soldiers, Jhin triumphantly laughed, "Hehehe very good! Not only was your appearance as that of a goddess, you're also as kind as a saintess."

He couldn't help but compliment himself, 'I'm really good at acting. They should give me an Oscar award. Even tricked a goddess to become my servant hehe'

"Shut up!" Crystal snorted. She was fuming with rage. Her embarrassment almost made her want to bury her head on the ground. It was especially the case after she scanned her soldiers and saw their dumbfounded expressions.

'Damn it! Wait for me to become stronger, I will surely have my revenge!' Crystal thought. However, the key was very important for it pertains to the survival of his people. As such, she could only sacrifice herself.

"Now! Let's enter the shrine!"
