Chapter 6: [Re] Chapter 6 - First Time Running with a Pack

~Year 500ish AD~
~Alexzander POV~
It took a surprisingly little amount of time for me to become comfortable within Adriel's Tribe/Pack. Granted I'm not officially apart of the pack but I'm more like an honoured member.
I still spend a lot of time at my own home, which Adriel's knows the location of as he and members of his tribe are always welcome.
Over the months we've practically stopped trading with each other and just help each other out when ever we can or when needed. Like for example I've been helping the newer members of Adriel's pack get adjusted to being a Wolf as I actually have the most experience with being one.
"Alex!" Adriel shouts taking me out of my musing.
"Yeah?!" I shout/question back.
"You going to join us this time?" Adriel questions, referring to me joining the rest of his pack in running during the full moon.
It's something I've been putting off for some reason, I guess it could be because before I met Adriel and his tribe the only person I cared about was my sister and running with Adriel's pack is like confirming that I care about them which honestly scares me a little.
"Yeah, I'll join you guys" I answer him with a smile. But the best way to get rid of a fear is too face it head on.

A couple hours later and all activated members of Adriel's tribe/pack are preparing to turn for the full moon. Unlike what I would've expected the entire pack immerses themselves in the turn fully accepting the pain in return for the freedom they all feel as a Wolf on a full moon.
"Excited?" Ahote asks standing next to me. The two of us have become fairly good friends after our fight, as Ahote was impressed with my skill.
"Yes" I answer after thinking it over a little. "I've never ran with other wolves before"
"I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's the greatest feeling in the world" Ahote says with a pleased smile on his face.
"I've been told" I reply referring to all the times Adriel has told me about feel he gets when running with his pack.
"Alex, Ahote you both ready?" Adriel shouts coming towards us.
"Always" Ahote replies giving his alpha a dopy grin.
"I am" I tell him still a little nervous about join the pack in their monthly hunts.
"Don't be nervous my friend, once you've ran with us you'll wish you'd have done it sooner" Adriel says patting me on the back.
"He's right Alex, I was nervous too during my first time. But during our pack hunts is the freest I've ever felt" Ahote tries to explain.
"So you've said" I say with a raised brow.
"That's because it's true" Adriel steps in, "Anyways we only have a short time beside the moon is up, so make sure your both prepared"
"Of course" Ahote says to his alpha.
"I'm ready" I tell Adriel.

~Few Hours Later~
"Here it comes" I hear Ahote say from a small distance away, looking at the moon I finally see it in its full glory.
Unlike most wolves I can turn at will, but this time I decided to give into my more wolffish instincts and allow the full moon to control my shift into my Wolf.
Without any pain or discomfort, I begin my change into my Wolf form. It only takes a matter of minutes until I've fully shifted.
Standing proudly in all my werewolf glory, I allow myself a brief moment to take in everything. Every scent, every sound giving into my senses temporarily and just enjoying the moment
Coming out of my brief moment of peace, I give into my instincts and allow my wolffish nature to take over as I hear howls in the distance.
Bolting off into the distance, my Wolf quickly finds Adriel's wolf. Adriel's Wolf is slightly smaller then my own but his is a soft brown colour compared to my harsh midnight black fur.
Nudging Adriel's Wolf slightly, both his and my own Wolf rush into the forest with the rest of Adriel's pack following.
Adriel's Wolf picks up a scent of herd of deer close by, letting loose a howl he leads the way into a hunt for the deer.
My own Wolf resists the idea to take over the hunt out of respect for Adriel's own Wolf. Following behind him my wolf starts tracking the deer aswell.
With Adriel in the lead we quickly got close to the small deer herd, but unfortunately one of the younger Wolfs inexperienced in hunting makes to much noise by standing on some fallen branches alerting all the deers off our presence.
Adriel's Wolf let's out a howl knowing we've been noticed. The howl signals that all wolfs a free to attack, which they do immediately.
The wolfs of Adriel's pack stay in small groups as the go after a few deers each. While the older and more experienced wolfs like myself, Adriel and Ahote go after a couple deers on our own.
My Wolf takes down three deers before it's satisfied, though surprisingly my own wolf without any prompting from myself drags a single deer to Adriel and gives it too his wolf as a thank you for allowing it to take part in the hunt.
While this could be seen as submitting to Adriel's Wolf, it quite frankly isn't as I know that my Wolf wouldn't ever bow to anyone, I myself wouldn't even bow to anyone and I'm not nearly as proud as my Wolf is.

After the successful hunt all of us wolves just messed about for the rest of the night, mainly play fighting or relaxing under the light of the full moon.
A few hours later before we began to turn back we all headed back to the tribe camp as the night was coming to an end and we can all feel it.
Turning back quickly, I snatch a set of clothes and wait for everyone else to turn back into humans.
"So how was?" Adriel asks stepping up beside me.
"It was... fulfilling" I tell him, "Like being apart of something greater I suppose"
"Yeah, it's not all sunshine and rainbows though" Adriel begins with a joking tone, "You try taking care of a few dozen runts"
"I just might" I reply smiling imagining what it would be like to have a pack to call my own. "I just might indeed" I whisper.
"So you'll join us from now on?" Adriel asks.
"I don't see why not, if that's okay?"
"I wouldn't have asked if it wasn't" Adriel says patting my shoulder before walking off to check on some of the younger wolfs.
"This.... This isn't so bad" I mutter to myself as I watch Adriel's pack joke around with each other, having the time of their life's after a good nights Hunt.
