Chapter 3: Chapter 3: A Cheaper Price

"Y-you're joking, right?" Leon finally spoke. Leon was a pretty good haggler; before we could even enter, I already knew from the glimpse of his eyes that he would haggle against the cashier to get the headset at a cheaper price. He basically inherited that from his mother. I knew I would get the Helix headset someday, but I never knew I would get it TODAY. Maybe our day at school wasn't as bad as I thought.

As my brain was processing what the cashier had just said, he continued: "I'm just kidding. I can't really take out 200 coins off the headset, BUT there is an exception"

Usually, the first instinct that would kick in is that I would doubt him, but somehow, I was intrigued, why and how a guy that's almost 28 years old like him can give us a headset created by the best company in the world with open arms??

"I can only shave about 100 off the gear, but guessing from your talk, both of your wallets combined won't help y'all, aight?"

Me and Leon both nodded in unison. "Great. Then all you have to do is just to give me 100 crowns plus a 5% tax, and the rest is on me, happy?" Me and Leon were both clinging onto every word, and by the end of his deal, we were literally buzzing with excitement. This is a once in a lifetime chance to get the VR set, but something was a bit off. There's no way in heck this guy could just say "the rest is on me" when the whole set costs 500 freakin' coins, that would be insane. But then again, he said we can only give him 100 coins....if he truly wanted a lot money, I don't see why he would make it only a 100 coins, seeing how he heard me and Leon talking.

"Are you sure what you're saying is real and not just a scam?" Leon said, sending a glare full of suspiciousness at the cashier, and the guy replied: "Okay, okay, fine. If you think I'm tricking you, then I can just hop back to the store and mind my own business.." he trailed off as a woman was coming over to the store.

He stood next to the door and opened it for her, and then the woman thanked the cashier,

but I noticed something immediately flashed from her purse-

And the cashier smiled.

Ah, I see. He's just playing with us. This Aladdin knock-off guy was basically desperate for money, as if he was ready to swipe some of my cash right from my pants without me looking from the start of this whole crap. Fortunately, I had a plan of my own, and he is 100% gonna buy it.

He was going to go inside the store, until I shouted: "Wait! I have another idea!"

Both of them looked at me surprised; and I continued: "How about...I pay through a credit card, you give me the headset, then I will give you 200 coins?"

Leon looked at me with shock: "200 coins!? Axel, you can't be serious!"

The cashier, however, looked at me with suspicion in his eyes. He thought I was trying to trick him, but I wasn't, really. I don't steal or do any trouble unless it has benefits for me, and of course, this would kinda consider as one of them.

I then followed him into the store, paid for the set with my credit card, and I paid with 200 coins, then me and Leon went out of the store.

"Are you crazy!? What was that all about, saying "I have a new idea" and you wasted most of your money on a headset!? It's as if giving a Chihuahua permission to bite you!" I was ignoring him, carrying the one prized object I wanted in this entire, dang life. Then, I gave him a wide grin. "Tee~ hee~ hee~, you're far too young to understand, my old friend". He looked at me with confusion; basically he didn't knew what did I just do to the cashier. "What?" he asked.

"You see" I cleared my throat, going to Dhar Mann mode, like always. "I tricked him, because that credit card actually has a virus in it. The moment I put it on the card reader, the virus glitched it to make it look like I gave him 300 coins, but it was empty, really, and even though I paid him with 200 coins, I still have other ways to get more money, so no worries there" I ended telling him my plan, and the color drained from his face the moment I said the word "virus". "YOU-" I was prepared for him screaming, so I immediately put his hand over his mouth, and he kept muffling through my sleeve, then when I took my hand off, he reprimanded: "Sometimes, I think you're delusional" and I replied: "Sometimes, life isn't fair. Besides, that jerk was gonna trick us anyway, so I came up with a better plan, which proves how much of a genius I am".

"At viruses, yes, but at 2 plus 2? Nope" Leon said with a laugh, then I smacked him in the back for his head "You know math isn't one of my best fields!" He ran towards his house and we waved good-bye to each other, then I came back to my apartment.

When I came back to my apartment, I immediately tore off the box and took out the headset. Whenever you look at things online and admire them, you'll know that no matter how many pictures you see about it, it's always better when you see it before you. The Helix Reality VR headset was the next gen of all VR games. It looked like a pair of round glasses that were attached to each other; it also had black and dark red lines across the device (They ran out of colors, so it was the only color left).

Anyway, after hours of failed attempts to turn on the Helix, I finally turned it on, and then I had to find some kind of small refbutton to make the headset wider so that my head can fit in. I put over my head and touched the red button again to make the device smaller again, and I laid down in bed. One of the reasons why I laid down in bed was because when using the Helix, you can play inside a game, but you can't use your real body. At the same time, we wouldn't feel any consciousness in our real world bodies, it would be as if you left your real body teleported into another dimension. Then, I spoke the commands to enter the VR world.
