Chapter 17: Luna Lovegood
Ashlynn's stay at the Dursleys wasn't as bad as she thought. She had threatened them that she would put poison in their food if they made her do the chores or made her sleep in the cupboard. She had gotten the small room that used to be Dudley's toy room. She had all of her things in the closet.
She would usually just stay in her room reading her textbooks. She made it clear to the Dursleys about that fact. Even if she couldn't use agic, she could use it in a few years. She wasn't scared of them. She now had something to threaten them with. SHe could use magic. She could avenge them soon.
A few days later, Vermon announced that there was someone coming to their house. Ashlynn didn't listen but got that they were important people that could benefit the Dursleys. The only problem was that Petunia was a terrible cook. How could she when Ashlynn had done all the cooking for years?
Vermon ordered her to cook a feast for them. But Ashlynn casually said no. But in the end she agreed that she would cook for them in exchange for some money.
So that day, Ashlynn cooked a feast. She had gotten more money from Petunia because of it. She cooked steak, spaghetti and even made a cake.
When Ashlynn was finished, the doorbell rang and the Mansonscame. Ashlynn ran upstairs. Her job was done. She counted her money when she was face to face with a house elf.
"What the fuck are you?!" Ashlynn nearly screamed.
"Dobby is used to curse words. Dobby is here warn the Potters. Don't go Hogwarts!"
"Ummm Why should I not go to my school?" Ashlyen was getting suspicious.
"Something bad is happen…"
"Well… My answer is No."
Dobby looked at her pleadingly. Ashlynn led him to the stairs. She let him peek at the Dursleys.
" I'd rather die in Hogwarts because of the bad thing than to stay here with those pigs. Besides, you should go warn the saint Potter. He's the true boy-who-lived."
Dobby nodded.
"Miss is right. Dobby must go."
Suddenly, they heard a woman screaming. Mrs. Manson had seen the house elf. Everyone came running towards them.
"What is it lo- AHHHHHHH" Mr. Manson screamed. He saw the house elf.
The couple held each other screaming. Dobby, who sensed danger, left with a snap of his fingers. The little rascal had betrayed her!
The Mansons screamed louder and ran out the door. Vernon looked furious. He was livid!! Petunia was pale but looked angry all right. No threats would stop them now… Ashlynn's wand was in her room. Ashlynn sensed the danger in the air. This wasn't going to end well.
She ran up to her room and locked the door. Vernon and Petunia came running after her. They screamed and kicked the door. Cursing. Ashlynn started packing. She was no longer staying here. She couldn't. She didn't know exactly when the Weasleys would come, but she wouldn't wait. She was going. She got her trunk with everything in. She ignored the door rattling loudly and looked at her window. It was large enough for her to go through. There was a tree just below it. SHe could make it.
She slipped through the window and slid down. It was risky but it was worth it. She landed in the backyard. She twisted her ankle in the process but it was fine. It was loads better than to get beaten up by her uncle.
Suddenly there was a pop and Snape stood next to her. Ashlynn Smiled and greeted the professor.
"Hello professor."
Snape looked at her luggage and looked up, hearing a lot of curse words and shouting.
Snape sighed but said nothing. She grabbed her and appeared in front of another house. This house was quite strange. It wasn't the burrow.
Snape finally opened his mouth.
"The Weasleys are hosting your brother because they don't have room for you. You will stay with the Lovegoods instead. I will see you in a few weeks Ashlynn." With that, he left.
A man wearing colorful clothes came out and led Ashlynn in. Ashlynn sat down on the chair and the man introduced himself as Mr. Lovegood. He then called a girl. Hesaid that her name was Luna and she would be attending Hogwarts this year. Luna had pale skin and pale blond hair with blue eyes. She had a dreamy smile and she happily led Ashlyn to her room.
It was the most colorful room she had ever seen in her life. Bookshelves were on the wall and a blue carpet on the floor. It was a nice room.
"L'm Luna Lovegood. You are?"
"I'm Ashlynn Potter and I'll be staying with you until Hogwarts starts… I think"
"Oh! That's nice! I always wanted a friend to sleep over! By the wway, do you believe in nargles or wrackspurt?"
"Umm… What?" Ashlynn raised her eyebrows. What was this girl talking about?
"You know… Nargles are creatures that infest mistletoe and are mischievous thieves. Stealing almost anything. A Wrackspurt was an invisible magical creature which floated into a person's ears, making their brain become unfocused and confused. "
"I don't know…"
Luna smiled. "I can see Wrackspurts around you. You must be quite confused. But it's fine."
Ashlynn just smiled at the girl. Luna seems nice but strange. She didn't want to insult her.
During the rest of the days, Ashlynn read books on the chair while Luna talked about creatures that Ashlynn had never heard of. Ashlynn didn't know if they really existed but it was interesting.

After a few days, Ashlynn woke up from her sleeping bag. She woke Luna as well.
"Hello. Good morning, Ashlynn." Luna smiled at her.
The two of them creped downstairs and started cooking.
"I'll cook the eggs and you can cook the toast. Don't burn them Luna."
"I'll try my best. You should also be careful of nargles. They might even steal the food."
Ashlynn laughed.
After a few moments, Ashlynn had finished cooking her eggs and turned to luna. Luna was swaying her hand in midair while the toast was burning. Ashlynn sighed.
"Sorry Ashlynn. The nargles were trying to steal the bread…" Luna said apologetically.
"It's fine. You go sit down and set the table Luna. I'll cook the rest."
Ashlynn cooked toast, eggs and bacon. She also made some fruit salad. Luna's dad was happy to see breakfast already ready. And they enjoyed the delicious breakfast.
Xenophilius asked Ashlynn. "How do you cook so well, Ashlynn?"
Luna also said, "Yes, Ashlynn. Your cooking is almost as good as mom's cooking."
Ashlynn said, "Well… Let's say, I had lots of practice. But who's your mom? I've never seen her around."
Xenophilius stiffened but nodded at Luna and left the table. Luna gave her a sad smile and led her to her room.
"I'm sorry Luna. If I said something wrong -"
"No, it's fine." Luna cut her off and began to speak.
"Well… mom died two years ago. She was doing an experiment and something went wrong. She died…"
Ashlynn could see that Luna had been hurt. She just had a way of hiding it. Ashlynn gave Luna a hug. It was very awkward for Ashlynn. It was her first time.
Luna smiled. "Thank you Ashlynn."

Days passed and it was time to go to diagon alley. Luna, Ashlynn and Xenophilius went out. First, Luna went to get her wand. It was a greenish yellow wand with unicorn hair. Then they went to get the books. They went to Flourish and blotts. Luna and Ashlynn got in and started getting their school books.
Then they noticed people crowded around the center. Ashlynn looked closer and saw Gilderoy Lockhart. The famous author and hero. Ashlynn snorted. He was a flot! A joke! All his books missed some more detailed ways to kill the monsters. Ashlynn had known that he was a fraud who was full of himself. He reminded her of Harry.
Luna squinted. "He's lying isn't he? He is too full of himself. Not even the nargles want to stay near him!"
Ashlynn snickered and she pulled young Luna outside.
