The writing in this is great, the characters likable, plot is both pased decently and executed well. A cultivation world parsed through a modern view is often attempted, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone nail it. I enjoy most everything about this novel, but much like a cultivator it’s suffering from ego bloat. The MC likes to go into inner monologues about morality, and while they work in the beginning and are sometimes appropriate, they only get longer and more frequent as the story progresses. Even worse is that most of them repeat the exact same thing. They went from an enjoyable take on a cultivation world to a preachy time waste. Less is more when writing, especially when you toy with the 4th wall. Reign them in and go for short, infrequent, and impactful narritivve breaks; cause the 4th wall already looks like Swiss cheese and I don’t know how much more abuse it can take.
