Chapter 11: Jacen
After meeting with Rey, Ziyla comes out of the room and is greated by a Kaminoan man who is her scientist.
"You didn't tell her that she is yours and his child?" the scientist said to her
"Von, even when I tell her the truth she wouldn't believe me" she says to him while they are both walking in the corridor.
"But sooner or later she must accept it" he says to her.
"She will" Ziyla assure Von
While Ziyla has a conversation with Von Salamoo, Rey walks into the nursery of the ship to tend to her injury. She could hear people talking about her, and how she could relate to the empress. She then heard someone's voice familiar walking down the path. She walks out of the infirmary.
"Jacen! Jacen Syndulla!" she runs toward him and hug him till he is drop to the floor
"Rey!! Is that you?!" he tries to pick him self and Rey up
"Yes, I couldn't believe that you are here?" he pick up his helmet
"What about you? Why are you here?" she ask him
"It's a long story.." he looks down and scratches his head.
Jacen takes her to the cafeteria and tells his story. After getting captured by the empire, he was living in captivity. He tells her how the first order didn't treat their prisoner poorly. The only thing he tries to survive is from the fight in which usually easily calms down. Their prisons have windows toward the planet and space. The guard isn't easily bribed but could and they have chains of exchange. No one tries to get out of the place because some of them have a worse life outside, at least inside they have food on their table and a place to live.
He then explains, the first order has a program of making prisoners to be their army and prisoners with skills work under them. So when they ask for a tie fighter pilot Jacen takes it as a ticket out of there. Besides, he is born to flight, so it doesn't suit him to live in a cage. Then the empress asked personally for him to be a pilot of an experimental starfighter.
Rey try to hold this feeling while Jacen is talking but she then burst it out;
"How could you abandon your mother…" she mumble
"What? Cause? Mission? My mother always love to fly but she joining the rebellion is her own choice not mine" he argue
"But he is fighting for the freedom of everyone rather than a monarch!" She stands and slam the table. Everyone looks at them while Jacen asks her to follow him after he takes a deep breath. He then shows her what is in the hangar of the new Star Fighter SF-13.
"Look how elegant it is, four wings and slim body" he says to her while walking and touching it.
"So you join the empire for this?" she said it almost scream at him
"Ray, what did the empire do to you?" he looks back at her
"They killed my parents"
"And who told you that?"
"I… i.."
"Can you even trust those words? The way I sees it as long as I could fly freely I did not care about anything else"
"At what cost? Killing thousands of million people?"
"Like did you even care?"
"Of course I care, why do you think I do not care?!"
"Are you ?"
"Yes, because I'm a Jedi!!"
"That makes no sense, the rebels also have blood on their hands!!"
Then a droid stops them by hitting both of their legs. It is none other than choppers. He is telling them that they attract attention as they look around and pilot and engineer looking at them at some point. After Ray looks down and sees chopper saying hi to him by kneeling down. Saying it is nice to see him too. He looks up and ask Jacen;
"So you know what happen to the second ghost then"
"It is the reason why, me and chopper is here"
"That's why master Ezra do not want to talk about it"
"How is he?"
"He doing fine"
"Hope I didn't worried him"
"You know, you could fight him or Salyna or even master Grogu"
"I don't think I will"
"What makes you sure about that Jacen?" she ask him
"I just know it"
Suddenly a soldier walks toward them and says, "the empress is asking for your attendance". Jacen thought it was for him but the storm troopers said it wasn't for him, It was for her. While they are walking toward where Ziyla is, Rey notices something.
"Finn is that you?" He looks at the Storm troopers.
"I'm still at work, " he said to her.
As they arrive, Ziyla welcomes her new apprentice as she meditates. "Welcome my new apprentice" as the door shut behind her and Finn stood guard outside.
"Let us began our training"
"I will never become a sith"
"To be a better Jedi you need both"
"What do you mean?"
"You will need both to kill Luke Skywalker"
"Why should I fight my own former master?!"
"Cause he lied to you"
Rey stand there in surprise "I don't need to become a sith to knows the truth"
"Yes but to open and unite the holocron you need both a Sith and a Jadi, one can open it without the other. I am the last Sith, and I gave you this title so you may open it one day." she stand up and pull her lightsaber, "so will you do it or die"
"Alright, I will do it. But I wouldn't kill my former master"
