Chapter 26: Chapter 25: Talented young man
*** Third-person P.O.V.
" This is the third time that this thing shut down while I was working " She turned to look behind her to find no one before sighing and getting up from her computer desk.
" Molly! Molly! " She walked to Molly's room and knocked on the door.
" Yes, mama? " Molly opened the door with her doll in hand.
" Do you know where is Daniel right now?" She patted her as she leaned a little forward.
" He must be with his friends, he said that they are going to a movie today. " She pouted when she mentioned the movie as she twirls her hair with her finger.
" Ohh dear, I'm sure they wanted to take you with them but it must be a higher Pg film than you could watch. " She got on knees as she patted Molly's cheek to make her feel better.
Molly nodded before going downstairs.
" Something bugging you, ma'am? " She turned to look behind her to discover that Karl was standing a few steps away from her.
" Yeah, My computer keeps shutting down, and Daniel is not at home. I needed to make an excel file urgently. It looks like I have to call a professional. " She rose to her feet while thinking how did he appear behind her without any sound.
" Well, if you don't mind I could give it a try too. " Karl stepped sideways to give her a path as he told her.
" Sure, be my guest. Nothing bad in giving it a try. " She shrugged while walking back to her room before inviting Karl inside.
**** Mila P.O.V.
" And now you just need to reboot it and it will be back in shape. " He told her before stepping aside.
Considering that he spent a part of his life on the streets, he was skilled with the latest tech.
" Where did you learn all these? " I couldn't stop myself from asking that to sate my curiosity.
" My cousin was a leading figure in science and even though the technology was not his main point, he was still highly skilled in it and liked to stay updated at all times. " He smiled awkwardly with some mixed emotions in his eyes as he answered my question.
' Is he trying to guilt-trip me? ' I thought to myself as I just softly nodded at that.
' If you don't want me to inquire about your complex past then just be precise, why are you telling me the unnecessary stuff. ( I learned it from my cousin ) would have been fine .' I grumbled in my mind even though I know that I would have inquired more if he had said just that.
" Thank you, It is working fine now. " I sincerely thanked him once I rebooted it and operated for a few minutes.
" It's nothing much, if something like this comes up again just tell me. No need to call someone else unless the problem is in the hardware. " He nodded at me before turning to the door and exiting the room.
" Now let's get back to work", I muttered to myself quietly to raise some spirit inside before opening the excel again.
****Kar-el P.O.V.
I exited the house and stepped on the dry road before turning toward the shopping district.
I would have preferred a ride but walking was not that much of a problem too. It would take some time but time was not a big issue right now.
I walked for some time while asking for directions once in a while before reaching my destination.
" What do you want, son?" The owner was sitting behind the cashier as he glanced at me.
" I want to apply for a job if there is any vacancy. " I looked at the computer parts sitting in the cabinets as I walked to him.
" You? I don't think you are capable of working here. " He waved his hand at him before focusing on his work again.
" What if I proved to you that I am capable? " I put 200 $ on the desk to get his attention before continuing," Give me the most difficult work that you visited this week and I would fix it for you, doesn't matter if it's software or hardware. You don't have to worry about me damaging the device since if that happens then you can keep the money. "
He put his hand on his chin as he looked at me while raising an eyebrow for a few seconds before sighing, " Fine, come with me." He pocketed the money as he got up.

" Here, you can check if there are any problems with it ", I step aside once I rebooted the Pc so that he could check it.
" No need, I can see it from here. " He passed me the cash as he patted me on the back before signaling me to follow him outside.
" You are clearly capable to work here. When are you going to start? " He sat on his chair and put his arms on the desk before addressing me.
I shook my head as I took a seat, " I do not want a daily job right now. I would like to receive assignments with a period and you will pay me with computer parts in exchange for them. "
" You want to be a freelancer? " He picked up a pen and started spinning it with his hand as he thought for a while.
" Listen, son. I am fine with paying you computer parts if that is to your liking but I never appointed a freelancer before. " He leaned over as he said that.
" I will take 10% less than others while as you can see, I work much faster than others. You just need to receive a lot of works at once and leave them to me. What do you think? " I stood up from the chair as I looked inside the shop as I addressed him.
" Fine, but you would be working in the shop and can't take the computers at the home to repair. " He raised his hand for shake hands which I returned.
' It's just for a few days if I receive enough assignments to build my custom P.C. with parts I would receive from him. After that, I would quit the job since my objective would be over. ' I thought while returning to the home.
' I need to ask Mila if I could use her internet connection as long as I can pay the appropriate amount once my PC was in working condition. ' leaves were beginning to grow back on trees on the pathway and people had turned on lights in their houses as I walked.
' Schedule has grown a little tight and I can't delay it anymore. If I couldn't assemble a Pc in a few days from freelancing, I would just buy the remaining parts since every day is precious right now. ' Normal population were still aware of the storm that would hit in a few days.
" You came at the right time. Come on, help me set up the dining table." As soon as I entered the house, Tania turned to me and signaled me to follow her to the dining room.
I nodded as I removed my shoes and washed my hands first before entering the dining room and helping set up the table.
" Where is Daniel?" I noticed that he wasn't present in the house.
" Daniel only visits from time to time now that he is capable of owning his place even if it's on rent. It is close to his university so spends most of the time there. " The twins joined us in setting up the table as she told me that.
" What about you then? " I asked once we were
" Mom doesn't stay in here for long periods due to her work so someone needs to be present here. I do pay rent to contribute though. " I nodded as I took a seat with others.
" Okay, shall we begin?" Tania looked around the table as she asked.
" What about mom? " Molly picked up her utensils as she asked.
" She is busy with some files and will eat later. " Emma replied with a sad smile and a consoling tone.
