Chapter 6: 5 : The Number One
Haru was preparing lunch. In the kitchen, Phils was making jokes as always and Merle, his mate, was ignoring him. He was cutting meats and chopping spices in silence.
Haru was helping Josie to set the plates. The kitchen overlooked the canteen. Haru bustled about preparing the tables.
People were already entering. Flore came to hug Haru when he saw him and Lola threw herself in his arms as usual. Haru was happy to see them even if he didn't show it.
He didn't see them as much since he no longer served customers.
Besides, he wasn't even an S-rank Omega anymore.
There were a total of 7 possible ranks: S, A, B, C, D, F and 1.
Three years ago Haru and Angela were the only two omegas of rank S and A.
Haru took a seat next to Lola when she pulled him by the arm.
" - Go to eat with your friends." Josie told him before he was practically drag by Lola.
They began to have lunch. As always, Haru was a real eye-catcher, as much for his beauty as for his story.
"- My next client is Miss Rosalie. She wants us to go shopping. " says Flore.
"- I have my afternoon free, said Gustave. How about a walk in the park ? "
Haru gently shook his head. He pulled a pencil and a notepad out of his shirt's pocket and wrote, "I still have chores. "
Gustave nodded. Haru brought his glass of water to his lips when suddenly someone shoved him.
His glass slipped from his hands and the water soaked his shirt and his notebook.
" - Oops. " Angela said standing behind him.
The latter's friends laughed.
"- Are you crazy ?! " Lola yelled as she stood up.
" - Keep it down a bit, hissed a girl behind Angela. You can't talk like that to the number one of the club! "
"- You're only a C-rank! Stand in your place ! " another Angela's friend interjected.
Proud to receive compliments, Angela threw a long lock of red hair behind her back.
"- Rank-S my ass yes." Flore sneered, handing Haru a tissue.
Angela frowned.
"- You are just strutting about because you are afraid that Haru will take back his title. " Flore told her.
Angela clenched her fists.
" - Me ? Afraid ? What should I be afraid of? He can't even get it up. " Angela scoffed.
She glanced in Haru's direction. He wasn't saying anything. He was wiping his notebook as if he couldn't hear what was going on around.
"- Oh stop it ! Haru was at rank S without letting anyone touch him! Compared to us, he doesn't have to sell his body to be the best! " Lola exclaimed.
Angela was boiling with rage.
" - He should have, she said then. If he had, his Alpha wouldn't have dumped him! "
Haru froze, shaken by her words. He pursed his lips, wishing to defend himself but… he couldn't.
"- You don't know what you're talking about! growled Gustave. "
" - Coming back here when he's no longer useful, he's a drag to the Club," Angela's friend sneered. "
Haru then stood up attracting everyone's attention. He turned and faced Angela. She held his gaze. Haru stared at her for a moment before finally walking his way.
"- Oh yeah… besides being helpless he's a mute now. " Angela laughed.
Haru stopped, but said nothing. He continued on his way, preferring to return to his room.
