Chapter 61: Approach~1!
"Sir we have sent our aide proposal to Korean Hunter's Association. They have taken our help into consideration. And most likely they will accept it, taking their two previous failures into account. " In an office inside the sky-scraping building of Japanese Association, seated the head of the association with his assistant briefing about the situation concerning Jeju Island.
It's been about a year since Jeju Island news was brought to light and slowly the world came to the realization of what abomination was breeding in the Asian continent. Unsurprisingly to the world's government, the Korean Association didnt take any foreign help resulting in two consecutive failures.
The first raid went without any fatal casualty which encouraged the Korean Association to try again with a better plan and especially after obtaining the recently awakened 'S' rank, their winning chance seemed more probable.
However, it wasnt only Koreans who got power up but the other side too.
Due to the loss of experienced hunters, the association halted their movements since 2 months.
It was Japan who offered the helping hand first after they realized the desperation of Korea. Of course, helping with the raid wasnt something Shigeo and Goto planned about, before sending the aide proposal.
"It isn't publicized yet right?" Shigeo frowned as he asked.
"No sir. We have asked Korean Association to keep it to themselves until they don't accept it. And from our side, so beside us, only Goto san know about this". The man replied cleanly without a single syllable breaking.
" Good. I dont want a single alteration in our plan. Especially from a particular person".

"Its team Reaper". Someone said in a low tone but the utmost silence made it a loud announcement inside the auditorium.
A gasp could be heard from almost everyone as it was the first time they were seeing the top-tier team of the hunter school, whose captain was rumored to be stronger than most of the instructors present on the ground.
Starting from the left, one could see a mountain-built man with scratches and cuts all over his broad face. His huge build was covered under a bohemian floral shirt and short pants. He was the tank of the team and 4 th strongest student in the school, Yamada Kanto.

Besides him was a raven-haired mage with violet eyes who had a frown on her face. She was the weakest in the team and goes by the name Karin Suchirio.
From the opposite side could be seen a man with a scary look on his face. He had a dual blade packed on his back and lean stature explaining how agile he would be while handling those blades. He was the 2nd strongest in the school, Nanasahi Shihito.
Beside him was an aloof-looking guy with a somewhat small build and a carefree aura around him. He was the wimpiest-looking guy in the group. However, he was the only person on whome the captain generally relied and discuss strategies.
And finally, the center of the group and attraction of many. James Anderson. The strongest student in the school and the captain of the top team. He had a moderate build with a height about half-head shorter than Subaru with his face covered with little scars adorning his masculinity even more. His aura pressurizes one to look away from him. But right now, he wasnt like how rumors have told the first years. Instead of having a cold and domineering atmosphere, Jimmy had a more livelier approach.
The Reapers were here for a single possible team, which was certain by everyone. The top team coming themselves for scouting was something one could hardly believe but knowing the potential of a certain freshie, the possibility does seem to become more plausible.
Subaru was sitting with his body facing the incoming source of raw mana. He didnt have much of a reaction, however, his other teammates had their guards up.
Kyojuro barely feels imitated by someone, but right now he knew that he could be wiped out easily by the approaching team.
Ririka as well as Yuno had a frown on their faces as they had their hand resting on their weapons. Since it was tough for Yuno to carry her axes everywhere she used steel batons as an alternative which she won from a fellow student some days ago.
Theo was sweating like hell, but still held his ground and stood beside Subaru.
Upon their arrival, both teams measured each other but very soon one side got bored and shrugged off any thought of getting a threat.
" James Anderson. I have been waiting a while to meet you. " Jimmy offered his hand down toward Subaru as he greeted him. There wasnt single malice behind his approach but genuine curiosity.
"Subaru". He stood up before returning the gesture.
Standing close to each other, both looked like heroes coming from an action movie. Jimmy couldn't help but try to measure Subaru again while being nearby. However, all futile. The rage of his anticipation aroused even more.
" I dont like to beat around, so I will keep it straight. I am offering you a place on my team as a full-time regular mage. Of course, we will provide compensation for your old team for your loss before taking you away. So what's your answer and please I request you to think before you speak. This kind of chance do-" Jimmy wasnt able to complete his sentence when a chilly voice interrupted his speech.
"I refuse". Subaru was expecting something else but in the end, it was the same as what most likely he thought. However, the remark of regarding Subaru, already as a teammate made him irritated, but he didnt let it out through his unchanged expression.
The swordman from Reapers frowned upon hearing his captain getting insulted and unconsciously released a little bit of his intent. Kyojuro's instinctively brought his hand on his katana.
The intent was felt by everyone in the team, but the focus was fixed upon the two towering features for now.
" ...Care to explain why?" With a momentary pause, Jimmy asked Subaru without letting his building agitation show upon his face. He barely lifted his index finger in a certain manner on which his teammate immediately pulled back his intent.
The whole auditorium felt the atmosphere becoming heavy and uncomfortable but no one dared to move even a bit and stood at their places while listening to the exchange.
Subaru paused for a moment and with an inward smirk, replied in his previous tone.
"Honestly, I will be leaving the school shortly. The day, I beat that guy.." Subaru raised his thumb while pointing toward the left of his shoulder, in direction of Kyojuro.
"...with a piece of metal in my hand, I will be out. Since there isn't a single person worthy of attention, there is no point hanging around. So dont you think, it's a waste to form a team with you for this short period and eventually let your mage become abandoned." A shiver ran down Karin's backbone as she heard Subaru mentioning her.
However, the shiver didnt pass through her only. The reasoning of Subaru and a certain part of his response was utter provoking. One could imagine how strong and confident Subaru was to poke the best team in essence the strongest hunter in the school.

In an instant, the sound of the blade clicking and slinging sound spreaded across. Ririka and Yuno had their weapons in hand as they formed a stance. On the other side, Kyojuro's thumb was slightly pushing the hilt of his katana hilt, ready to be unleashed in a blink.
The other team also had their guards up now however, they had their weapons untouched. Only their intent showed the rising tension among the two groups.
This sudden development happened only because of a single person. Jimmy couldn't control his temper anymore upon hearing Subaru's words.
No one.
Not a single person, has dared to insult him this much until now and those who dared were now buried six feet below the surface.
And here a mere mage who had some secrets hidden in his arsenal was disrespecting him. Offending, The James Anderson? The strongest hunter in the history of Hunter's Academy? The next 'S' rank candidate?
'Unforgivable'.
"It looks like, your perspective about the others is too narrow. I dont appreciate your lack of acknowledgment ". Subaru had his eyes smiling as he asked with an indifferent voice.
" Hoh... So as a senpai won't you enlighten me?".
"Very well. I was hoping to not fight you this soon but I guess I have to show you the true meaning of despair and the difference between our strength".
