Chapter 9: Chapter 9 - Experiment and discovery.
"It's quite amazing to be able to find ways in improving a quirk."(Momo)
"It's Izuku ever since he was diagnosed as quirkless and has sharpened himself and has scary analysis. He can see a person's weakness then exploit it."(Itsuka)
Itsuka wanted to be the one to protect him when he became a hero but now that change wanted to grow stronger in order to be by his side. She can't let himself be left behind and needs to be better than before.
"Seeing him grow stronger makes me want to do the same and be by his side."(Itsuka)
She recalled times he would push himself and work late even to the point that his body would collapse and remain firm.
His talent in martial arts was not natural and had to work harder than anyone else.
He may have an edge in terms of talent but everything came from his perseverance and stubbornness. Every Time she saw him surpass himself motivated her to do the same.
Itsuka rarely heard him complain when he started to train and improve himself. He kept tempering himself and forging who he is today.
No one else but him would be able to reach such a level of discipline and skills because unlike others he was not gifted with power and needed to earn it.
Her words and expressions reminiscent of the past made the two want to do the same as her and be stronger than before. If they want to become a hero then they must work hard and improve themselves.
Their quirk is a tool and they are the one who is tasked to sharpen them. They were motivated to train and push themself.
"Anyway, I was just rumbling."
"It's fine, we were curious about him since he told us a bit about himself."
"We can chat later. How about we continue training? Jiro-san, listen carefully, this will help you know how to fight."
Jiro nodded before listening to her explanation being taught the waist of fighting while Momo at the side experimenting with her quirk using the idea from Izuku.
She thought of a chemical compound that is highly reactive before reconstructing another reactant that would let the two substances produce spark.
Momo slowly secrete the nitroglycerin before adding the other chemical components but failed a few times trying to figure out the right component.
"I knew this wouldn't be this easy but I can't give up now."
She persists and takes time to analyze the perfect combination that would allow creating a spark. It took her trial and error for half an hour until she was surprised when a small spark appeared within her palm unable to contain her excitement screamed getting the other two attention.
"It works! Though it's still weak, I'm progressing!"
She felt grateful to meet Izuku who made her use her quirks without expending too much of her energy creating them as if they were basic chemical compounds rather than trying to make them into complex objects.
"Congratulations for finally taking another step forward with your quirk, Yaoyorozu-san."
"I never expected for your quirk to be applied in this way."
Itsuka and Jiro halted their training for a moment to give their praise for Momo who worked hard to achieve her new power.
"Thanks but if not for Midoriya-san's help then I wouldn't be able to realize it."
Before long, momo continued her training, producing scales around her body and claws. She tried to deconstruct the object back to lipid as it was still part of her body.
Her limitation is that she is unable to extract the object that already left her body but shockingly finds that it is possible as long it still attaches to the body. Momo was able to retract the scales and claw back to her normal hand.
"It's so simple yet why did I not realize it!"
She resumed by making a scythe blade at her forearm which was a few meters in length, afterward retracted it and started to feel sluggish and lightheadedness causing her to fall to her knees.
"Momo-san! Are you alright!?"(Jiro)
"What happened?"(Itsuka)
The two saw her fall to her knees and quickly went to check up on her helping momo stand up.
"I-I'm fine, just a bit dizzy and numb. This is probably a side effect from retracting my creation."
Momo already expected that there would be a drawback and took a moment to recompose herself being assisted by the two girls.
While they were helping each other out, Izuku had taken the time to perform a warm-up exercise by executing his Martial art that he had not been able to perform for 2 months.
His movements were quick and sharp, striking with a force enough to knock out a normal person. Izuku had yet to use his quirk as he was far used to being quirkless.
He resumed his training by flipping then doing a handstand then doing a push-up and lifting his whole body. The pain was agonizing feeling his muscle fiber being torn from the excessive training after it had not experienced exercise after 2 months.
'Huh? Strange…'
Izuku finds that his body is adapting at a terrifying rate that few moments of exercise reach his peak condition as he has never been in a coma for 2 months. This was a shocking discovery about his quirk that he only vaguely guessed before.
"I was correct that my quirk also has high-speed healing. Super speed, high-speed thought processing, high-speed healing, and kinetic energy absorption. I wonder if I could transfer kinetic energy that I would build up to something else. For now, let me see how fast I can go."
He stood up taking a position to run concentrating in hopes of generating the speed force. Izuku planted his feet firmly into the ground before dashing at the speed of a sprinter but kept going.
He ran and ran until his eyes flickered in white lightning as his hair went up. Izuku's whole body shrouded in white lightning generated tremendous speed that broke the sound barrier.
Everyone who heard the sonic boom quickly investigated and found Izuku had disappeared leaving footprints that had turned the sand into glass due to the temperature generated.
Bakugou who was training at the side saw him zoom past him and made him grin, finding that his friend would become more. Challenge.
"You bastard and went beyond like you always do! But I'm not one to be fucking underestimated, Deku!"
He proceeded to produce more sweat with his palm before creating an explosion that increased his speed trying to catch up to Izuku.
Meanwhile, Izuku finally had the opportunity to see his quirk in action, finding himself half a kilometer away from where he initially was. He was far from his limits and could go for more distance but decided to head back.
It was enough to go back and forth to ensure that he wouldn't get lost. However, he finds himself in a dilemma.
"Now how do I tap again….."
Like the other instances, Izuku only unconsciously tapped his Speed Force and still had no way to truly know how to generate it. He tried recalling the sensation when running.
'I felt like it was different than just running….it as if I'm drawing my speed from somewhere else….'
He muttered back and forth trying to run around again to see if he could generate the speed force but found nothing.
'You know what? Fuck it! Let's just run until I get the hang of it!'
Izuku always thought at times like this there is no need to think and let things flow naturally. He was not always a man who used his brain and the majority of times used his guts when he was unable to figure things out.
At times it works perfectly and the precise example he was about to do. Izuku took 1 step then 2 steps afterward 5 steps until he was running at 400 steps per second.
He was moving at such an inhumane speed that it started to catch fire from the friction that Izuku's body generated. His speed allowed to returned before Bakugou had the chance to catch up to him zooming past him once again.
Izuku arrived back at the dagobah beach creating a gust of wind upon stopping his track. His face had a wide smile, excited that he was able to slowly understand his speed.
"Izuku-san! You're on fire!"
