Chapter 99: I Can't Stop Wanting (To Eat) You

"Hansel and Gretel... I have heard of that before." Little Evan furrowed his thin brows. "But why are they evil? My Momma told me that it was witches who are evil, and the two children were good." 

"That was the version you have heard." Franklin smiled. "But this is a new one, something I crafted myself. In this version, the witch is a little boy. Just like you."

"Just like me? Then how is he a witch?" Evan asked.

"He was cursed. He had come to like sweets so much and hoarded all of it, causing the gods to curse him for his greed and make him a witch, living in a house of sweet forever." Franklin told the tale with an intriguing tone. "When he was first transferred far away from his parents into the house of sweets, the Haus Sussigkeit, he thought that he was blessed and he had never been happier in his life."
