Chapter 43: >Chapter 42<

"I… I give up…"

The boys, watching the scene in front of them, had missed feelings about this situation. First of all, how can someone be dumb enough to challenge a person two years more experienced in magic? It wouldn't matter if they were already a few years out of school, but the distance between the years is so big that you can't possibly close the gap in just a year.

After all, they were just learning the basics, and it was way worse with her being a first year. On the other hand, the boy has clearly already learned all the basics. He didn't even need to strengthen his body with nature magic particles that much, he just used the very minimum needed, showing how experienced he was.

Second of all, this is the kind of situation where the main character would show up and stand in front of the girl, like a prince on a white horse, saving her.

As if the world heard their inner thoughts…

"Wait!" A random student shouted from the side.

All eyes were now on this one person. He was also a first year student, but the weird thing was, not like the boys could talk, that he was actually human. He had blue hair and black eyes. Not going to lie, he looked like a protagonist from a cliché fantasy novel.

He walked up to the girl and said some things, which the boys couldn't hear. The boys then stood up and spoke to the dark-elven boy, Rhikahn.

"Let me challenge you!"

"Why?" Rhikahn had the most confused expression on his face.

"She obviously doesn't want to marry you. So let's fight with the same wager!" The boys shouted.

Such an annoying voice, the boys thought.

"Why should I accept?" Rhikahn asked.

"I will wager my life in this match!" The human said.

Rhikahn was very confused right now. Why would a random person interfere in their affairs? And now, he even wants to bet his life for a random person he doesn't even know the name of? It just didn't make any sense at all.

On the outer edges of the arena, the five boys were cringing so very hard. They called all their willpower just to help them not to bash their heads on the ground. Even tears were forming on the corners of their eyes. This moment was so cringe that even the author was cringing while writing this!

"Uhh…" Rhikahn wasn't sure what to say. Honestly, the boys kind of pitied this poor guy. "I reject."

"Why?"

"To be honest, I don't even know your name and I have no interest in your life." Rhikahn said and started walking away, not paying attention to the shouting of the human youth behind him.

"Phew…" The boys released a sigh of relief and slowly started walking away, along with the rest of the crowd. Fortunately, they got to keep their sanity, since the cringe energy already dispersed.

"What the actual fuck?" Timothy rubbed his eyes. "What did I just see? Ahh… god please cleanse my brain and erase this memory!"

To their surprise, they heard a similar reaction from their newly made friend.

"Hmm, I totally understand your reaction. I would like to forget what I just saw." Frederick said.

"Anyway, how is a human here, in this academy? I thought we were the only exception." Phillip asked Frederick.

"Actually, he was a baby when he was found in the outer part of the Thirio forest by a couple, and they have been taking care of him ever since. He is known very well because of his talent for magic. So, in strength, he is comparable to a third year student."

"Huh, it sounds like a perfect scenario for a novel…" Tim murmured.

"It actually does." Jacob agreed.

"A novel?" Frederick raised an eyebrow.

"Ah, it's nothing, just a genre for a book. You know, out there in the human countries." Phillip said, trying to keep the conversation from going further.

"Is that so…?" Frederick eyed the boys and just continued walking.

A month later…

The group learnt a lot about this world in the past month, as well as a lot of new experience in magic was gained by the boys during that small time frame, which was also the reason for today's trip.

Right now, they were all currently on their way to the misty forest with the rest of the class and Instructor Rustica, who is also their teacher in the magic practice class, which is what they're going to be today.

When they arrived in the classroom, they were all shooed away and told to go outside of the building by Instructor Rustica. She said that they were going into the forest to get a proper look at a magic beast, how they look like, and their weak points.

Actually, when the boys heard this, they thought that this was actually a Magic beast study topic, but they weren't complaining, since to survive, this was necessary information to know.

All of the students were in 5 carriages in total. Our group of boys was in the first carriage, along with Frederick.

They actually didn't even know where Instructor Rustica was. She just told them to go to the academy gates and get into the carriages and they suddenly just started moving.

After a while, they all got out of the carriages after they had stopped and were now standing in the outer ring of the forest that was surrounding the city.

"Finally, you're all here." Instructor Rustica just appeared out of nowhere.

Why did it sound like she was waiting for us? The boys thought.

"Now, form five groups of five students and stay close together. We wouldn't want anyone to get lost, so just follow the light that my wand is going to emit." She instructed and tapped her wand that was higher than herself, on the ground a few times.

Instructor Rustica then turned around and walked into the forest with the students following after her, practically clinging to each other. After all, they had never seen a magic beast before. They didn't want to end up in a magic beast's maws right on their very first encounter with it.
