Chapter 3: Siege of the hell school

3 weeks have passed since the boys awoke in their new playground of a world. "I just don't understand why we pitch in and Riley just gets to go play around out there." Alex complains for the 50th time. "Because asshole we need shit and he always delivers and besides we are getting more points for our labor than his hauls anyways." Tank grunts as he dumps more cement into the little hole that was drilled in the 4 foot wide platform around the perimeter inside the wall. It was going to take a while to fill as in the 2 weeks since completing the hollow path and segments between posts only 1 was finished. "But I mean come on he got that machete at discount cause what he always leaves shits rigged if you ask me." Alex complains again. "He used points he earned clearing the lumber yard and hardware store. So again shut the fuck up Alex." Tank says again. Using the rope pulley they rigged to lower the wheel barrow, Tank starts mixing another bag of cement. "Doesn't this piss you off?" Alex pleads with Tank. "Let me tell you what I know." Tank says as he mixes memories playing behind his eyes. "I went on a run with Riley 2 weeks ago." Tank paused as the memories became nightmares. "Only thing is that that guy turned it into a hunt you see Alex he hunted them and he hunted them fucking good." Tank resumed his mixing. "If he was truly unfair that monster I've grown to call my brother would bring every head he collects and man let me tell you he doesn't leave out there until he has hunted and killed at least 20 of them in a different way." Tank starts pulling his wheelbarrow back. "My advice; little brother is do Not. fuck. with. Riley." Tank says. Alex waves his hands. "So what the big bad scary Riley does what he wants when he wants and we all fall in line?" Alex moans. "No; just stay out of my way." Riley whispers in Alex's ear, scaring the 14 year old nearly to death. Then with a chuckle Riley drops down onto the other side. "See you in a bit." Riley says over his shoulder.

As Riley walks he replays Jason's promise that one day he will be their hero. Stopping in front of a novelty and surplus shop. "Bingo." He says to himself. Walking around the building a few times to be sure that no zombies would interrupt. After walking to stand in front of the glass doors. Crouching Riley recited his self made mantra. "I am the monster, I am the hunter and I will conquer this new world in a sea of my enemies blood both living and dead. Not a worry or fear shall enter my head for I am the one who is never dead. I am the monster. I am the hunter and I will be a savior." After he finished he stands and draws his old rusty machete from its cardboard and duct tape sheath. Walking up to a window he taps it with his machete. After the zombies bang on the window he counts them. "1,2,3,4,5 ugly fucks to die." with that he pulls the door open. The first zombie he hacks into its skull. "One dead fuck." The next one he drives the machete into its eye. "Two dead fucks." The next he throws the machete, sticking it into his face dropping. "Come on guys, did you guys see that shit it was awesome." Riley laughs pulling his knife. "Oh and three dead fucks." Riley chin stabs the last two. "And five dead fucks." Riley retrieves his machete. While wandering around inside the store he starts loading military clothes and knives into a bag. Turning he sees a stack of M.R.E. palettes. "More fucking military food." Riley chuckles. In the glass Riley spotted various sized k-bars. "That'll shut Alex up." Riley chuckles. Figuring he can't carry that much shit himself he sets on a minivan and after a quick hot wire loads the goods in until he can no longer fill it. "And Riley wins again." He chuckles to himself as he sets out looking for 15 more dead fucks to re-dead.

"I mean why does he have to be such an asshole?" Alex asks. Tank throws his mixing bar down. "I'm invoking rule 7. Get ready asshole." Tank roars. Growing closer to Alex, Tank brings his fist back and Alex is sent flying. "Why did we make that stupid fucking rule?" Alex says, spitting blood. "So we don't kill one another." Jason says. Rat runs up to the bickering boys. "Riley is on his way in a minivan." He tells them. Sure enough the minivan rolls up and Riley jumps out. "I brought presents." Riley says. The boys stare at him. "Jason, do you think just this once you could give a freebie to everyone?" Riley asks, sitting in the open side door of the van. Jason rubs his chin for a few moments weighing options. "I'm sorry Riley but we can never shortcut the rules." Jason says. Riley taps his knee for a moment. "Can I use all of my points I've collected so far to give these presents to you guys?" Riley says hopping up. "If that's what you want but it puts you back at zero." Jason says, turning to leave. Riley snatches the young boy's cane forcing him to balance in place nearly falling down. "Sorry." Riley says. "What the fuck man?" Tank snaps. Reaching into one of the many olive green duffel bags Riley pulls out a black cane. At the top is a Jason Vorhees head and mask sculpted in bronze colored metal. He hands this to Jason who uses it immediately. "Thank you Riley" The boy says, fighting tears. "Open it." Riley says, smiling at his smallest brother's confusion. Holding his hand out Riley gestures for the boy to give him the cane and after sitting down Jason passes it over. Riley twists the grip below the head 180 degrees and then pulls a knife out. "Wow." Jason whispers, accepting his cane sword back. "Tank, come here." Riley says reaching into the bag again. He pulls out a large bowie knife looking much like Tank's favorite movie hero Crocodile Dundee's knife. "Now that's a knife." The older boy says in happy whispers as he tests the blade. "Rat" Riley says, waving the boy over handing him a double edged bayonet knife. "Thanks Ri." He says happily, taking his new knife. "Slim" Riley says, handing the large boy a bowie knife with brass knuckles. Finally Riley turns to Alex who was preoccupied with staring at his shoes. "Alex." Riley says, waving the boy over. "Close your eyes." Riley says. The younger boy does and prepares for a rule 7 invocation. Something is placed in his hand. "Open your eyes, loser." Riley says rooting around in a different duffel bag. "Make sure you grab yourself something." Jason says, limping towards the house. Alex stares at the k-bar in his hands. "You have been whining about how much you wanted one of those for as long as I've known you." Riley says dumping the contents out of a black military backpack. "I'm taking this," He says. The 4 boys stare at him with looks of confusion. "You're not grabbing a better knife or another weapon?" They ask. Riley chuckles. "I will when I rack up some more points but this here is a better thing for me. I can carry more loot and supplies, it's more durable and it has more pockets." Riley explains. "I'm gonna head out again while it's still early, you guys unload the van for me." Riley says transferring his stuff from his roughed up and torn mostly duct tape old pack to the new one. As he leaves he hears "More fucking M.R.E.'s." Behind him making him chuckle.

As he wanders Riley sees a large hardware/pharmacy store. "Weird combo but fuck it I'm game." Riley mumbles to himself drawing his machete. As he approaches the bloody front of the store he is astonished at how clean the sidewalk is considering the stark difference the parking lot and windows have. Moving closer Riley is mildly uncomfortable to find that the automatic doors are broken open. The dirty floors stretch out before him and the quiet sounds of snarling and flesh tearing are heard near him. A zombified cashier munches away at what could have once been a person but was now far too mutilated to be recognized as more than a bloody heap of meat. Riley slides his machete into its mouth and pulls its head back driving his chipped and now worn chef knife into its soft chin. A metallic hiss is heard as the knife scrapes the machete. Laying the zombie aside Riley slowly approaches the pharmacy. Two zombies of equal height stand a foot apart in front of the pharmacy counter. Setting his machete down Riley grabs a flat head screwdriver from a bin. Slowly he stalks up to them until he is right behind them and drives his makeshift weapons into their skulls. As the zombie falls Riley hears clicking behind him. Turning quickly he dives as the zombie husky narrowly misses biting him. Scooping his machete up he turns and raises his arms. The dog is impaled centimetres from his face. Bloody drool spatters his face running into his eyes and mouth. "Fuck!" Riley roars as he struggles. "I am the monster not you." He growls struggling. The dog clamps its jaws onto his shoulder flaring pain through him. Without thought Riley bites the hairless rotting throat tearing chunk after chunk away and spitting foul blood and meat as he does this desperate thing. His hand slides down from its jaw and into the hole had made where he grabs its neck bones. "I hunt you, I am your monster bitch." He cries out as he rips with all his might pulling the bones free and tossing them aside. The jaws remain clamped but the body goes limp. Sliding the machete out he drives it into an empty eye socket until the jaws open. Shakily standing up Riley vomits on the zombie dog. "Yeah you taste like shit too." Riley hops the counter and starts sliding whole shelves of pill bottles into his backpack. "Alex will know what this shit is, I bet." Riley says spitting out blood that isn't his. When the pack is full beyond its limits Riley hops back over. A zombie reaches for him that he hadn't noticed and Riley slams his machete into its head practically cleaving it in two. "Not in the fucking mood for your shit you smelly shit bag." He snaps. Looking over he sees an aisle full of generators too large for him to move and after a moment of consideration decides to get Tank and Slim.
