It was 10 am.
Haikal's classmates started taking out their smartphones and connecting to the wi-fi. They went to the school website and logged in to their student account. Then, they started registering for their elective classes.
Haikal did the same and started selecting his elective classes. He succeeded in registering two but his third one failed as the class was full. He would need to take the class next year.
He moved on to the other subject and some of them had a conflicting schedule with each other which he had to give up. Finally, after half an hour, he managed to register for the elective classes he wanted.
Badrul managed the same too at almost the same time. He followed Haikal's advice and chose the elective he was interested in.
Now that that was done, Haikal and Badrul moved on to register their Co-Curriculum club. As Senior High students who aimed to further their studies after graduating, their first choice would be the non-sports club.
The non-sports club's activities would not be too tiring and thus, would not damper their study's energy.
Moreover, non-sports club activities would rarely interfere with the student's study time as compared to the sports club. The sports club would usually be away from school a few times a year participating in competitions and tournaments and thus, interfered with the student's schedule.
For Senior High students who were not aiming for sports studies, professional athletes, and something similar, it was not an ideal choice to choose a sports club.
"What club are you going to register for? I want to follow you," Badrul spoke. The co-Curriculum club was different from Elective classes as it was far less important than the latter. So, it was fine if the duo chose the same one.
"Reading Club. Hurry up, we might miss the chance," Haikal spoke hastily. There was a member limit for every club in the school and thus, it was first come first serve.
Badrul nodded and immediately searched for the Reading Club.
"There are ten spots left! Hurry up!" Badrul spoke. Haikal was aware of that too as he was already at the Reading Club registration page.
Both of them immediately clicked on 'register' and then, a notification appeared on both of their smartphones.
[The club is full. Please choose another club. Thank you.]
"..." Badrul fell silent.
"..." Haikal was the same too. Both of them sighed and Haikal decided on their next target.
"Stamp Club," Haikal spoke and the duo searched for it. They found it and there were a few spots left.
The duo reached a tacit understanding and without any words, they clicked on 'register' again but a second later was again met with the notification saying that it was full.
"This is bad!" Badrul mumbled.
"Cooking Club," Haikal continued while ignoring Badrul's mumbling. They found the club too and a few spots were left.
Be that as it may, when they clicked 'register', the same notification appeared. Haikal continued listing a few non-sports clubs and they rushed to register for it.
Unfortunately, most of them were full while the one with spots left shown was full not a second later.
Because the club was the same as their classes where it was permanent until they graduated, many Form 4 students prioritized it first before registering for the elective classes.
Even if they missed the elective class this year, they could take it next year. Thus, something permanent like the club needed to be prioritized. So, the club was full when Haikal and Badrul finished registering their elective classes.
"The others registered the club first!" Badrul spoke.
"That is why, we had an easier time registering for it," Haikal shook his head. They continued registering for the non-sports club. Instead of choosing what they wanted, they opted to choose whatever was available.
Be that as it may, life was not easy. Not everything will go as planned. Although the duo moved fast to register, they failed to get into any non-sports club. Both of them silently stared at their phone screen.
While the non-sports clubs were full, the sports club had many vacancies.
"Sigh~," the duo sighed at the same time. They had no other choice but the sports club.
"Which club is it? I am pretty sure we will have an easier time now," Badrul pouted while saying that. He also knew how much better it would be to be in the non-sports club.
"Let's choose the popular one. How about football?" Haikal said, "Badminton and Sepak Takraw are fine too."
"Let's not choose the one that is too tiring. Football and Sepak Takraw will be too hard for us. Badminton and tennis are not bad," Badrul gave his opinion. Haikal agreed.
However, after they refreshed the site, Badminton and Tennis were both full. They did not say much and chose others immediately. They had a bad feeling about this.
As the non-sports clubs were full, the students would now flock to the sports club, and to minimize their 'damage', the less 'tiring' sports would be their first choice.
The duo continued registering and unfortunately, not many sports clubs had any spots left. The less tiring one was full. The super-popular one was full too.
"Mountain climbing, skydiving???" Badrul was confused as he saw a few more extreme sports clubs. "Since when were these extreme sports clubs in the school???"
"It has always been there but not available to the elementary and junior high students. It is an extreme sport after all. Only those that like these will register for it. We will not choose these. It is too dangerous," Haikal spoke.
"Obviously. Luckily the school is not that cruel and forces us to sign for these," Badrul spoke.
The school knew that the non-sports club would be super popular and thus did not give them many spots. As for the sports club, the extreme sports did not have any limit but if the student liked it, they could register for it.
As for the more popular and normal sports club, the school would give them more spots so that none of the students would be forced into extreme sports.
The school also prioritized the sports club more than the non-sports club. Why? Because exercise was good for the body and the mind of the student. Most of the students knew it too but were too lazy or focused too much on academics to do it. Thus, the education ministry took it seriously and employed this rule.
The duo put the extreme sports club out of their list as there were many other sports with more spots left.
