Chapter 3: Advantage

"How about I take you to my place?" He asked.

Quang looked at him with wide eyes. "I mean it would be just for one night. I promise I won't bite" he said with a smirk.

She looked at her phone once more and saw no notification from Lia, and she wouldn't want to disturb aunt Selena even more by asking to stay for the night. Plus, this man didn't look like he had bad intentions. She sighed and nodded at him.

"Good. Take us home." he ordered the driver and he nodded before driving off.

"So this friend of yours didn't tell you where she went?" he asked.

Quang shook her head. "She didn't tell me anything." she answered.

"Why don't you go to a siblings house or any other relative if you don't have a place of your own? Unless...that's what I heard people like you do." he said.

Quang raised a brow and glared at him. "People like me?" she repeated his statement.

"Yes." he answered blankly as he rested his head on his knuckles. "What were you doing alone at night anyways?" he asked again.

"What were you doing?" She shot the question back at him and he fell silent.

He focused his gaze out the window, lost in his own thoughts.

"I had business to attend to." he answered without looking at her.

"So did I." Quang answered mockingly. Why was she speaking so casually with a stranger like she has known him for years? This was very unlike the antisocial Quang everyone knew.

After driving for half an hour, Quang's eyelids became heavy. Her body struggled to keep itself upright and a yawn escaped from her lips.

"How far is your house?" she asked with a voice as soft as a whisper. She had a very long day and it was way past her usual time for sleep, or naptime as she likes to call it.

"It's still quite far, out of the city." he said. He didn't seem to look sleepy at all, unlike her.

She nodded slowly as she closed her eyes and let the sweet salvation of sleep take over her.

The man stared at Quang's peaceful sleeping face for a while before looking at his golden watch to check the time. It was already 10.

He looked at her again and took off his jacket and placed it over her like a warm blanket. Her head fell to the side and he quickly supported her by making her lean on his shoulder.

They remained in that position for the rest of the ride.

...

The next morning, Quang opened her eyes to find herself in a large, beautiful king-sized bed.

She sat up and yawned before looking around the large room. The walls were made of marble with beautifully carved images of birds on each corner. The windows were large and shun a lot of light in the room. She noticed a fancy chair next to a book shelf at the corner of the room and a large closet near the door.

"Where am I?" she quietly asked herself. She looked at her lap to find a white jacket with golden linings on her like a blanket.

She then remembered the man she met yesterday and that she fell asleep in his car. But how did she get here? Wait, why is she even here?! She literally got into a stranger's car in the middle of the night and let him take her to his house in God knows where! 'Where is your common sense Quang?!' she scolded herself mentally.

She got out of bed and walked towards the door to open it when someone else opened it.

A short woman wearing a maid's uniform stood in front of her and bowed.

"Good morning ma'am. Master has called you downstairs." She said politely.

Quang waved her hands with an embarrassed smile. "Oh no...you don't have to call me ma'am...and bow." she said. The maid looked at her and smiled. "It's my duty to do so ma'am. Now please hurry along, Master is very impatient." she her.

Quang nodded with a smile and let the maid escort her.

They walked down the spacious hallway towards an even larger and beautiful living room. It had an open fireplace and a soft, white carpet to tie the room together.

The furniture was of high luxury, but still looked perfect with the classic interior of the room. She looked around, admiring the place when a familiar voice rang in her ears.

"You're awake."

She turned around to find the man she met yesterday smiling at her with his perfect white teeth.

He somehow looked even better in daylight. He was wearing a white, regal suit like the one he had last night, but with medals and a picture of a raven on it.

"So...this is where you live?" Quang asked as she continued looking around.

"Yep, it's my own cozy little home." he said.

She looked at him with surprise printed on her face. It was obvious that this place was everything but little. Was he just toying with her?

A small chuckle left his lips as he reached inside his jacket and handed her her phone.

Quang took the phone from his hand. She turned it on but it had no battery. "No...How am I supposed to call Lia and tell her where I am?" she asked as she continued pressing the power button.

"Can I borrow your phone for a bit? I promise I won't take long." She asked.

He nodded and handed her his phone. When she turned it on, she found a picture of a raven with a crown as the wallpaper.

She looked at him with confusion and he smirked. "What? Is it wrong to fancy birds?" he asked mockingly.

Quang ignored him and dialed Lia's number.

Lia answered the phone and Quang didn't even wait for her to say a word.

"Lia! It's Quang. Where have you been last night? I waited in the cold for ages waiting for you and you weren't even at home! You could have atleast told me you weren't coming!" She gushed out angrily.

"I'm sorry Quang i-"

"I had to sleep in a stranger's house for the night because of you. Do you know how dangerous it would have been for me if I was left alone?" she cut her off.

"Quang please let me ex-"

"I don't want explanations. I'm hungry, tired and don't know where the hell I am! Do you kno-"

"I was in the hospital Quang!!" Lia shouted, obviously frustrated at her friend's chattering.

Quang fell silent. Lia sighed from the other end of the line. "I got into an accident yesterday and was rushed to hospital. Apparently this driver with a black car was rushing to pic up his boss and didn't stop at the traffic light...you get the rest of the story." she said.

Black car? Could it be that...no it couldn't. Was the person who got Lia in an accident the same driver that brought her here?

I mean, it would explain the horrible state of the car last night. But the driver didn't seem injured or puzzled at all. So it couldn't be him, could it?

The man who was standing in front of her heard everything. He stared at Quang's worried expression and signaled the maid to call someone.

"Quang are you still there?" Lia asked. Quang was still in shock but still managed to answer. "Y-yeah...Lia it's-it's fine you don't have to come pick me up. Just rest for now." she said.

"But where will you go?" Lia asked. "Don't worry... I'll make a plan." She said and before Lia could say anything else, she hung up.

"Wow you're quite an amazing friend huh?" The man teased her with a smirk as he took his phone from her hand.

She looked into his eyes silently. "Can..." she said but immediately closed her mouth. No, she couldn't ask this stranger for a place to stay after he helped her out like this. It would seem like she's taking advantage of his help and just want to stay in this wealthy house.

But she had no other choice. She got lucky when this man offered her a lift and a bed for the night, so why can't she push a luck a tinsy bit further?
