Chapter 20: Dinner With the Blacks (2)
"Your room?" This time, Aurora was the one to ask.
"Yes."
Zagon Black stared at his son, and then looked towards the girl, his fingers brushing past each other underneath the table, "Okay. . . It seems like my son has taken interest in a girl. She is very beaut -"
Before he could finish his sentence, Lucifer interrupted, "Yes."
Zagon Black frowned, not pleased about being interrupted, but he could not say what he wanted to say anymore. Unhappy about his son, he grabbed onto the knife and fork and said coldly, "Okay."
The awkward conversation came to an end as everyone began eating their dinner silently, whereas Daphne could only stand to the side watching as her stomach grumbled.
Even the glass of water on the table looked delicious to her right now as she stood behind Lucifer's chair. As she watched, her stomach grumbled loudly, so everyone could hear.
Almost at once, everyone in the room looked up at her, including the maids. Daphne would be embarrassed, but at the moment, she was kind of grateful.
Maybe they would actually give her some food now? Can't they see she is starving?
Cerelia and her daughter, Calindra, both frowned in disgust, their dislike towards this girl increasing with each second.
Especially after seeing the way Zagon had looked at the girl, Cerelia obviously knew that the devil had taken interest in her. However, Cerelia could not see anything attractive about the girl. The girl wasn't even as pretty as she or her daughter was! Disgusting little vixen!
Lucifer wiped his lips before slowly turning his head around, smiling slightly, "Hungry?"
She nodded immediately.
Lucifer then turned to a maid standing in the room, ordering, "Go get some food for her."
The maid bowed and was about to leave to prepare some food for her when Cerelia interrupted again, stopping the maid, "Lucifer, that wouldn't be good, right? Even the other mistresses don't eat here in the main dining room. It wouldn't be right for your. . . this girl to eat here."
Lucifer was getting annoyed as he did not even bother to smile at the disgusting fairy anymore, rolling his eyes, "If my woman can't eat here, then you have no right to eat here too, my father's. . . mistress," he said, emphasizing the word mistress.
Hearing this, Cerelia immediately jumped up from the table. She absolutely despised it when people called her a mistress, even though it was the truth. Even the workers here called her Lady Cerelia.
She was the first mistress, and even Zagon Black, the most powerful devil out of the Sevils, liked her the most, even more than his main wife!
"You -"
"What?" Lucifer chuckled with amusement, "I did not expect you to stand up so fast, but it's good to see that you are getting a little bit less stupid. The door is right there. You can get out of here now."
Everyone had turned to look again, and hearing this, the man sitting to the right of Cerelia in the third chair stood up as well, "Lucifer, don't speak to my mother like that!"
Lucifer's eyes tiredly moved towards his younger brother, Doyle Black, "What are you standing up for? You want to leave as well?"
"I -"
Finally, Zagon Black slammed his knife and fork onto the table, "Enough! Can't we just eat dinner? Cerelia, stop getting into Lucifer's business, and Lucifer. . . Show some more respect to Cerelia."
Lucifer scoffed, "Not everyone deserves my respect."
"You!" Cerelia lifted one finger up, but was cut off by Zagon, "Can't we just eat?!"
Cerelia was boiling with anger but seeing that Zagon was getting mad, she could only sit down and start eating again with a shaking hand.
She was used to Lucifer being disrespectful and rude to her all the time already, but this time, it was ten times as bad because she was being embarrassed in front of a little rat from the Brothel! She could not stand this!
The other devil, Doyle Black, was also furious at Lucifer, but he could only sit down to avoid his father getting mad. His most important task has always been to get his father to like him more than his older brother, so it would not be good to get his father angry over a girl.
Doyle Black looked over at the girl, who was staring at her toes now. He raised one eyebrow, his fist unwrapping as he could not help but think that the girl was indeed very beautiful, more attractive than any other woman he has ever seen.
It is no wonder his older brother chose to bring this girl home. . .
The maid left and a few minutes later, came back with a plate of a variety of food, that all looked edible to a human like Daphne, so she immediately began eating while standing up after receiving the food.
Seeing her eat like she hasn't eaten for several years already, Cerelia and Calindra both twisted their faces up in disgust, losing their appetite.
The rest of the meal went by in silence as no one dared to say anything anymore, after Zagon Black had expressed his annoyance.
After the meal, Zagon was the first to finish as he stood up, announcing that he was finished before his eyes landed on the girl, who was still eating, once more.
He frowned slightly as he dropped his napkin onto the table.
She was very beautiful, that was undeniable. It is no wonder his son fell for this girl, but the more Zagon looked at her. . .
The devil knit his eyebrows together. . . This girl. There was something familiar and off about her and the way she looked. However, he could not figure out exactly what it was.
Perhaps she was just too attractive?
Daphne could feel the gaze on her, and she looked up from her plate of food, her eyes meeting with those scary golden eyes. She quickly looked down again and after, Zagon left the dining room.
After Zagon Black had left, Lucifer also wiped his lips and stood up, turning around and looking at Daphne, who had not finished eating yet.
"You're done," he said, not asking it as a question but telling her she was done.
Daphne was full already, so she set the plate onto the table and followed Lucifer out of the dining room, under the gaze of everyone else still in the room.
