Chapter 36: Caught

"What are you doing here?"

Daphne froze as her heart skipped a beat when she suddenly heard the familiar voice that was colder than usual. She gulped, hoping that it was just her imagination tricking her.

However, the sudden drop in temperature could not have been her imagination. The ringing in her ears stopped as the complete silence engulfed her.

Very slowly, she turned around, her eyes landing on the familiar black suit she had just seen a while ago.

Lucifer Black glared at her, his eyes narrowing as he awaited her response. However, Daphne was not thinking about his question right now.

Daphne's eyes moved from Lucifer to the wall behind him and her mouth immediately fell open in confusion. Her eyes darted around. There were no doors and there was a wall right behind him at the end of the hallway.

How did he suddenly just appear behind her? Did he teleport again?

"What are you doing here?" He finally repeated, a hint of anger evident in his voice.

Not knowing what to say, Daphne did not dare look him into the eyes as she muttered, "I. . . I was looking for you!"

Lucifer obviously did not believe her as he stepped forward closer to her, his head lowering as he looked at her, "How did you get out of the room?"

Daphne licked her lips guiltily, her throat feeling dry as she explained, "You had forgotten to lock the door when you left."

Lucifer frowned, not trusting what she said as she looked very suspicious right now, "Tell me the truth."

"That is the truth!" Daphne looked him in the eye.

"I would not have forgotten to lock the door. The door locks by itself when a. . . something is pushed. I had pushed it after Doyle Black left and no one changed it since. How did you get out of the room?"

Daphne could not understand what he was saying. When something was pushed? When what was pushed? Isn't the door just a normal lock?

"Well I don't know. The door just opened by itself I guess?"

Lucifer lifted one hand up, grabbing onto her chin a little harshly, forcing her to look into his red eyes, "Tell me, my good girl. How did you get out?"

Daphne did not know why he was so persistent on knowing how she had gotten out, "I'm not -"

However, before she could finish, she felt his fingers tighten for a quick moment, hurting her tiny chin. She hissed, glaring at the crazy devil. Was he mental?! Why did it matter to him so much how she got out?

She pushed the door open and walked out! Is that so hard to understand?

Daphne thought back, trying to think of something that she could say. Finally, she decided to save her own poor little life first. With no better choice, she would have to sacrifice that little annoying girl.

"Well. . . After your brother had left and you did too, your sister. . . Calindra, I think? She came in and talked to me and then left. Perhaps she changed something and kept the door open?"

Lucifer raised one eyebrow, repeating, "Calindra. . ."

Daphne immediately nodded, hoping that he would not be suspicious of what she said. Perhaps it had been Calindra. If a button had to be pushed, the last person besides Lucifer that was outside of the room would be Calindra.

Lucifer thought about it for a few seconds and did not question her any further. However, the next second, he suddenly let go of her chin, his hand moving to her waist as he pulled her in towards him.

The sudden force took Daphne by surprise as she gasped, falling straight into his embrace as she rested one hand against his chest to prevent their bodies from slamming into each other.

She glared up at him, wondering what mental problem this devil had now.

He was smiling now as he pent down slightly, his mouth moving closer to her ear, "If that is the case. . . It seems like you were not good even with my warning. You need to be punished."

What?! Daphne screamed internally. What did he mean she was not good again?! She had no part in this okay? It was his siblings that had come to talk to her! She had no choice. Why should she be punished?

However, it was not a good idea to try and talk sense into this crazy devil right now. Daphne did not like the way he was holding her right now, and she tried to move out of his arms, but she blinked, and when she opened her eyes again less than a second after, the hallway was gone and she was back inside his room.

She looked around, not used to being able to teleport around so easily. After returning to the room, he finally let go of her and once his arms were not around her anymore, she quickly moved to the corner of the room, as far away from him as possible.

The door was closed and she realized that the cabinets were all opened. The restroom door was also wide open. It was likely that he had returned to the room and noticed she was gone.

Seeing that she was in the corner of the room, Lucifer grinned, stretching out his neck as he said drawled lazily, "Come over."

Daphne did not move, not wanting to be anywhere near the devil. He did not appear to be as scary as earlier now, and perhaps some of her courage had returned.

Seeing that she did not move, he spoke again, a little more fiercely this time, "Come over."

Daphne raised one eyebrow, sick and tired of this devil ordering her around, "You can't make me."

Lucifer raised one eyebrow upon hearing this, a smirk appearing on his face.

Daphne crossed her arms together in a protective way, looking away and out of the balcony. She was a little surprised when she did not hear the devil speak any more or order her to go over.

Perhaps she was still in shock from her sudden attitude? Maybe she should have an attitude more often. The worst that could happen would be him killing her, and maybe after dying, she would return back to the normal world!

Not to mention, she did not want to live here any longer.

Just as she thought he had given up on getting her to go over, she suddenly felt her feet sliding against the floor out of her control.

She frowned, looking up as she tried to stop moving, but it was almost as if someone else was controlling the floor and her body as she glided across the room. . . towards the devil!
