Chapter 9: Chapter 9 : Dark Night II
Spider-Man didn't have time to fight the Talon. He took out a few web bomb that looked like a small ping pong balls and threw them at the Talon. The Talon easily dodged it and made space with the balls. He thought they were some kind of bomb like he used but instead of a normal explosion the balls upon contact with ground near his feet immediately blasted into webs and caught his feets.
Spidey took this opportunity to run towards the bodyguards who had been cornered by the cannibals. They kept firing at the monsters but it was like it took a whole magzine of bullets to take one down.
The hero jumped above the hord of cannibals and landed in front of the guards. He turned around and sent the cannibals flying with his Venom blast.
Then he turned back and sent two web strings towards the guard and tied them up together. After that he picked them up and threw them out of broken window with a web string attached to them and then attached the other end of the long web string to the wall. This way they would be able to reach the floor below. Spider-Man himself couldn't take them away to safety. He needed to save Jacqueline. She was the prime target of the Owls. They were after HER life and won't bother to go after the guards that had already escaped.
Spider-Man looked towards the bedroom door. There two cannibals were trying to break in through the door. He immediately started running towards them and at this moment cannibals also broke in through the door. He could see Jacqueline still inside the room looking very scared as the Cannibals reached her.
Spider-Man took out the web bombs and threw them at the monsters. One bomb connected with the head of one cannibals and immediately covered it's whole upper body in cocoon of webs. The other cannibal suffered similar fate with it's whole lower body being webbed to the ground.
Spider-Man sent a web string at the Mayor that attached to her arm and yanked her towards himself. Morse was very scared when she felt herself being yanked of the ground . Soon she was in someone's arms and she looked up to see it was Spider-man.
Spider-Man didn't stop running even with Jacqueline in his arms. The Talon was still here and all the cannibals too. He couldn't keep her safe here. He ran towards the window in the bed room that still wasn't broken and jumped through it.
Jacqueline scream again as they both started falling down from the penthouse that was on the top of a 20 floor high building. Spider-Man though was very relieved from being able to escape from that place. The Owls had again outsmarted him . They were prepared for all potential problem in their mission .Even himself. He shot another web and started to swing through the city towards the police station. 'Stacy and his team would be able to keep her safe for long enough for me to deal with the Talons.'
As he was swinging his spider sense tingled again and he let go of the string and started falling down , he saw a sniper , More specifically the unmasked Talon shooting at him. He tightened his hold on Jacqueline and so did she and made a descent towards the ground taking cover of the buildings around him so that the Talon couldn't see him from the top of the skyscraper.
He was able to reach the Police Station fast enough and jumped straight into the Captain's office. Stacy was there along with a few other police officers . He was preparing to go to the Mayor's home when suddenly Spider-man jumped in through the window with the Mayor herself in his arms.
" Keep her safe . I'll deal with them . If some monsters attack , don't hesitate for a second. Attack them immediately."
And with those warnings he didn't wait for any answers and Jumped out of the window from where he had come from leaving the Mayor with them .
Spider-Man went back to the penthouse and looked around. He found out the cannibals that he had attacked with the web bombs but he couldn't find any signs of the Talons.
He went back out in the city and started searching for them all around. He went to the building where the Talon was sniping him from. But he couldn't find them.
Spider-man continued his search . Then he finally saw a movement down near an alley . He swung down to that alley and was able to make out a cannibal running away.
Spider-Man decided to follow it. The cannibal kept running around heading towards the dock. The hero was following it from rooftops of the buildings. As the monster kept running away towards a more silent area . Spider-Man could guess that it wasn't running away instead it was trying to lead him somewhere into a trap.
But he couldn't stop himself. The Court Of Owls has been terrorizing the city for more than a month now. That didn't mean he wasn't going to be vigilant. He started to hide himself in the darkness of the night more instead of openly following the cannibal from the rooftops.
Soon the creature had led spider-Man to an outer area of the city. It was somewhat a familiar area .An area with few old small houses and an old locked Church. This was the place where he had fought the Goblin for the last time.
Spider-Man stopped and started to observe the area. He could feel a small tingling sense at the back of his head and it was getting bigger and bigger. He knew the meaning of it . He was being surrounded by danger.
Two cannibals jumped at him from the darkness behind him and led him into the center of whatever play the owls had. But Spidey wasn't playing their game . He knew holding back is not going to work. And since they were more animals than humans this made things easier. He just had to nit kill. And with those thoughts he fired a powerful venom blast at one cannibal that sent it flying into a nearby wall.
The other monster was hit with a drop kick to the head and fell down too. Spider-Man then started running back into the alley to remain in the darkness .
More cannibals started popping up from all around the place. Up , down left right . Spider-Man faces them all by throwing a web bomb that incapacitated from moving or punching them hard enough to make the sleep through the night.
As the masked warrior was facing another hord of cannibals suddenly his Spider-Sense alarmed him to dodge to left and just split second later one cannibal git his head blown off by a sniper bullet. Spider-Man turned around to see The Talon at the top of a building taking another aim at him. He didn't give him any time and with his super strength jumped 50 feet high and sent to webbing to attach to the walls of two buildings nearby and stretched them so that he could use it as catapult and launched himself towards the roof where the Talon was firing from.
He landed a few feets away from the startled Talon. And threw out a punch that was dodged as the unmasked Talon took out his knifes and got into the fight. They started fighting on top of the roof top and it evident from the start that Spider-Man would be the victor . And victorious he would have been if not for the interference of the Cannibals.They somehow climbed up the roof and started pouncing on the hero.
Spider-Man was having a hard time with this many enemies. He couldn't dodge or block all their attacks. He knew he needed to end it fast. So he charged up the venom blast and blast some of the cannibals away. They he sent a webbing at the Talon and yanked him towards himself and raised up his metal arm guard that was also protecting his web shooters and slammed it hard on the face of the Talon.
There was crunch of bone breaking and the Talon staggered back a couple steps he didn't scream but still fel down on his knees holding onto his face.
The Cannibals didn't stop though . Instead they doubled their effort to stop him by any means. They started becoming more hysteric , screaming and roaring. Spider-Man continued to use his arm guard to slam into the face of these monsters and knock them cold.
He webbed two of the cannibals up and then lifted them off the ground with the help of web string and slammed them into another hord of monsters.He turned to find that the Talon had vanished again.
' Fuck! ' He could only curse as he saw more cannibals coming from distance. Spider-Man jumped up at their head and started webbing them up.
As he was finished fighting them his sensed warned him again, But this time too he couldn't save himself . The masked Talon , the one that had defeated him previously appeared behind him and impaled him with a short sword from the back. The sharp end of the sword was visible from the front side.
"Arrrggghh " Spider-Man screamed in agony as he was lifted of the ground with nothing but the sword he was stabbed with.
" Spider-Man. Oh you poor little spider. I should have killed you way earlier but worry not I'll do it now. But before that , Any last words? "The Talon asked before he dragged out the sword viciously .
Spider-Man fell to his knees clutching onto his stomach that was bleeding profusely. He looked up at the Talon and for whatever reason he smiled , "Finally you showed yourself you sneaky rat."
The Talon without waiting Smacking him away. " It seems you don't have any last words. Well then, All that's left is for me to finish the job."
As he inched closer to the kneeling hero he almost got hit by a punch. The Talon stumbled two steps back and watched as the superhero started getting up.
" Well Well. Still some fight left in you . huh?"
Spider-Man didn't respond except glaring through at him through his white lifeless lenses.
" Look at you. Trying to fight a futile battle. Standing up in defiance. Do you know Owls do to their prey that —"
Spider-Man didn't give me time time and lunged at him . Talon didn't dodge this time and decided to counter it. But Spider-man suddenly moved even faster than before and dodged the jab and grabbed his collar. " I know—"
Spider-Man panted as he spoke but held his grasp on the enemies collar tight and sent a heavy punch at the Talon's masked face. " — That I hate Owls!!"
The punch connected and Talons head reeled back. The assassin felt his legs buckling and world spinning from just one punch. He tried to attack again by spinning around and giving a Pele Kick . But spider-Man dodged that too and didn't let go of his hold on the Talon's collar.
" And I know one more thing. " Spider-Man charged up a venom balst and punched the Assassin in the gut. The Talon sprayed blood from his mouth.
" You and your court might think of themselves as something superior to others ."
He sent another venom blast punch in the gut of the Talon. His knees gave in and fell down but spider-Man didn't allow him to fall and kept him standing. Even though his own body was hurting he needed to see this through the end.
He sent another punch this time without venom blast.
"But , what you really are —"
Spidey sent an uppercut at the Talon which sent him flying a couple of feets away. He tried to move but the pain from two venom blast was too much.
Spider-Man didn't give Talon any chance so at him and punched him in the face.
" —IS NOTHING."
And then he punched the Talon again.
" You are hired goon."
And then punched him again.
" Your court is nothing Special."
And punched him again.
" No matter what you all tell yourself."
And punched again.
" And now what you really are—"
And again.
" —IS FINISHED."
With that he raised both his arms up and slammed his arm guards down on the Talon's head.
Only then did Spider-man finally stopped. The Talon was beaten to dreamland. The Cannibals were defeated. The Court was Incapacitated too. At least for some time he hoped.
He somehow stood up and webbed up his stomach wound. His mind was hazy and that's why he didn't noticed his Spider-Sense warning him to jump away as two small balls rolled down near his feet and exploded , Sending the masked hero flying away.
Spider-Man looked up at the sky as he felt his ears buzzing. He turned his head to look at what happened.
There from the shadows walked out the Talon without mask was sniping at him earlier. Whom Spider-man had name Talon-2 ... or 3? He walked towards him with a knife in his hand.
Spider-Man almost found this situation funny as looked at the scene. Had it not been the thought of his approaching death he might have laughed out loud.
He continued to stare at the Talon as he walked closer to him slowly briefly glancing his bosses unmoving body . But that didn't stop the Talon .
As he was a few feets away from the hero. His head suddenly exploded into a bloody pulp.
Spider-Man continued watching the scene with wide eyes and confusion as he saw the remaining body of the Talon falling.
Then he heard the sound of a helicopter approaching. It came fast and started to hover above the roof top. From it a few armed people landed. They looked like soldiers.
Then One person approached him while others went for the bodies lying around.
This man was was wearing a black trench coat and he had an eye patch. He had a cigaratte between his lips and his hands were in his pockets . He reached him in long strides and looked down at Spider-man with his one creepy eye.
"Hello , Spider-Man."
That was the last thing he heard before Spider-man passed out .

Well with this we end the Court of Owls arc. They are done for temporarily. I'll use them again if I continue to write. But there probably won't be any update for a while since you know it's Christmas and New year is almost here . Lot's of stuff to do .
