Chapter 6: Class(1)
I was not a saint.
Rather I was the opposite. Elaine who was smiling at me was most likely the same.
People smiled at me and welcome me with nods.
'Damn it...'
At this rate, I would become their meat shield.
"Well, I will then lead you to your resting place. It's not much, there are only two sections here, one for men and the other for women."
"That's enough, it's the right thing to do."
"Thank you. I was a bit worried..."
"There's no need to worry. Thanks for being our guide."
"Thats nice of you, can I call you, Big Brother?"
"Alright"
It felt weird being called Big Brother by some 6 years older than me.
I knew it was a honey trap, if it were someone other than me, he might have fallen for it.
"Then, Lily why don't we head to the women's section. I'll will lead you there. There are no set rules here, but Mr. Alexander will tell you everything you need to know. I'll also teach you a few things on the way."
"O-Okay... Mr. Erik. Thank you for taking care of me till now."
"No problem. See you later."
"Yes"
Lily thanked me again and left with Elaine.
I could feel that there were a lot of unspoken rules here, but I personally did not care about it.
What I was worried about was how I should proceed.
I wasn't happy with me being a meat shield for these people, but if I changed my perspective, then I wasn't a bad thing.
'Only then can I get what I need.'
A safe way to hunt with Alexander, a class and a way to get close to Lily.
Although it wouldn't be safe sailing, that was a minor issue.
The next morning, Alexander came to visit me.
"Did you sleep well?"
"Yes"
In fact, I did sleep well. When I was alone it was difficult to sleep peacefully, but in the shelter, I could relax a bit.
I knew what he was here for. So, I decided to take the initiative and speak.
"I did not see many people who can fight here. There are many women and injured with the rest having no will to fight."

"They are not burdens."
"They might not be burdens in the future but right now they are. You are able to manage the situation by relying on the food and water you had stored in advance. But, there is a limit to how long that would last. It will be hard to gather resources from the other starting points scattered all over the place. Not only that, we must also fight the monster in front of us."
Alexander was silent, maybe he agreed with me to some extent.
I decided to use this time to speak my mind.
"I am not a volunteer."
"I might not know what you wish to accomplish. Maybe all you want to do is let everyone survive and be safe. Although I understand your reasoning, I'm not like you, Mr. Alexander. I don't want all my hard work to benefit others. You may call it selfish, but these are my true feeling..."
"No, I understand that everyone is different."
Communicating with him went smoother than I thought.
Although his character was Heroic at least he did not seem too stubborn in his views.
"Alright. Firstly I want a portion of the resources we find in the future"
He nodded slightly.
He must have already expected such a request.
"And..."
"..."
"I want to be included in your plans for the future."
Alexander's face stiffened when he heard m request.
He looked at me with a hint of surprise, but a faint smile soon formed on his face.
"It seems like you knew"
"Well, I could only guess. The strange voice informed us that the goal of the tutorial was to survive and attack. Since you are gathering survivors, and we do not know how long the tutorial would last, we cannot just 'survive' the tutorial as food and water is limited. Then it becomes clear that we have to take the initiative to 'attack'. Am I right?"
I knew he was a regressor and I was just saying things he already knew.
But, the man seemed to admire my ability to such a conclusion with only such little information.
I looked at him in the eye, and I see that the way he looked at me had changed.
"In that case, I am happy to work with you."
I smiled and shook his outserched hand,
"Likewise..."
He must be aware that I was not strong enough.
But, I could see the strange sense of trust in his eyes when he looked at me.
Perhaps, he now thought of me as a useful talent.
For example, a strategist or some kind of administrator.

Ever since I started going on raids with Alexander, it had a lot easier to hunt monsters.
That wasn't all.
I was even more sure that my Eyes of Truth were the real deal.
Obviously, Alexander seemd to experienced with the sword.
Although I did not see him use his Void Sword Trait and he tried to make mistakes in his attacks he would always save me when it seemed like I was in danger.
Even though, he did not have a Shield, he managed to Tank several monsters and it helped me tremendously as it was much easier to kill monsters with his help.
Using his high Agility, he dodged the monsters attacks and cut them down swiftly.
It might seemed simple but I knew that it was difficult to execute in battle.
Meanwhile, I just had to make sure that he wasn't surrounded and guard his back. Even he would have a difficult time if he were to be surrounded by multiple monsters.
Just when we were finished with the monsters and proceeded to collected food and water,
