Chapter 3: The Tree house

Note : this chapter has being recently corrected, but The point of the story is still the same.

....[chapter begins]...

"Nice to Meetchya, Mickey And grandpa Ivan.

I wish I can tell you my name too but even that I can't remember, uhm..." I said clearing my throat, I felt a little nervous actually.

Social interactions!

"It ain't a problem Kiddo, Amnesia is pretty common ever since this Shit happened, and if Mickey here says you're someone he trusts, then I'll trust you just this one.

But we can't take you to the town.... at least not now, for god's sakes no!" said Ivan dramatically.

Ugh that old geezer, switched so quickly.

As if ignoring what Ivan just said, My stomach started rumbling enough for people to hear it, I couldn't remember when was the last time I ate anything.

why does that old man suddenly smells like something tasty too?

"I get it grandpa it's fine! I'm still a threat, but if you could do me this favor like I'm... Just a little hungry though, and I Know it's not my place to be asking for your help even more, you doing so much already... but if you can find me like something to eat, I mean just anything I'll be grateful!" I said nervously smiling, my stomach continuous growling and made things really awkward.

To be honest, I was bit skeptical about the whole situation, trusting these two, and everything just seems to be too crazy right now.

I mean, a dead body, a zombie following me and two guys popping up outta nowhere to save my ass...

AND! without forgetting this guy who keeps calling me Captain.

And yet, The only thing I can think of now, is how to put an end to the loud noises of hunger that were coming from my stomach.

The two men exchanged glances with one another and they chuckled a little, that old man chuckling felt more like an insult.

Undressing, "Alright Captain! That we can do." said mickey as he handed me something that was much to my disappointment not quite edible, his hoodie.

"You're giving me your hoodie Mickey? For what exactly?" I asked, as I took the piece of clothing he generously handed out to me.

I don't want to seem ungrateful, but I'm only a human, a hungry human.

Mickey smiled and walked closer to me helping me to put it on, "Your clothes are too thin and too damaged to protect you, can't you feel the cold?" He asked.

I didn't notice the whether, or more accurately I didn't care because it didn't bother me.

Who would be thinking about cold whether and fashion choices, when you got a dead bitch's mouth trying to get a taste of your Ass!

I was chased by a zombie! I be damned if I cared how my outfit looks.

The two men then started walking somewhere and ushered to me to follow them, which I did of course...As if I have a choice.

...[Slight time skip ]...

We made it to a spot, somewhere near the walls of the town that they kept talking on and on about.

it was the back side they mentioned earlier I guess, where a big tree was proudly standing bigger than most trees surrounding the area, and I looked up.

A tree house really?

There was a makeshift ladder too, hanging from the top of the tree all the way down, and in order to get there to the tree house, we were supposed to climb it...great.

The moment I saw it, I said to the dudes, " Oh shit! do I have to climb that up...damn I'm about to be exposed for all the P.E I skipped in school pretending to be sick."

wait, what was that joke? did I actually skip P.E In school? did I even go to school?

Ivan let out a disappointed sight while Mickey had a hard time holding his laugh again, " Just get to climbing kiddo, we don't have time before another zombie catches a whiff of us here." Ivan said slapping my back slightly, before he started climbing effortlessly.

Old man got a nice body...ew what am I thinking?!

Mickey jumped on the ladder next when the old man finally made it to the tree house, and he Gave me a thumbs up before he too climbed up, effortlessly.

Everything is athletic in this bitch.

When Mickey made it up there, he signed for me to hurry up too, " It's either now or never. " I said to myself as I started climbing up, to my surprise, this was a piece of chocolate cake.

In fact it was way too easy for me to climb, I did it fast and I barely felt tired or that gravity did something at all to me

"See it ain't that hard! Although you did climbed faster than both of us, it felt inhuman...you used to hate climbing (Y/N)" Mickey greeted me with his words as I made it to the top.

We got into this old looking tree house, Mickey threw himself on the floor exhausted, Laying on one arm and hugging himself with the other one, while Ivan puller out a box and opened it.

"Here kiddo, some chocolate bars pick one." Ivan said in a kinder tone this time, I thanked him by bowing down slightly with my head, and picked one of the bars.

Why did I bow? the fuck.

Unwrapping it quickly, I shoved the chocolate inside my mouth without hesitation, "God you look like you haven't eaten in years..." Ivan commented.

it could be the case...I don't remember.

"I might have, I just don't remember." I replied with a stuffed mouth making the old man smile a bit.

So he's capable of making that face, why the ruthlessness and rudeness from earlier then?

"You remind me of someone I used to cherish." Ivan said in a sad nostalgic tone looking out from the tree house window.

Dramatic old guy, such a movie vibe.

"You're a good one kiddo, I don't know why but I can feel it!" Ivan added.

And cut! no like seriously Cut! praising me after saying kiddo and insult me the moment you saw my face? what's going on?

I wiped my mouth with my sleeve, I was still hungry, though less hungry than before, and I felt a little too embarrassed to ask for more food.

"Ivan what happened that you ended up here?" I casually asked.

Opps, maybe I shouldn't have...maybe?

Suddenly Mickey whom I thought has fallen asleep, shifted in his place.

He then got up and walked to Ivan who was still staring outside the window.

"You can sleep tonight old man I'll take the watch instead, I don't think I can sleep this one night." said Mickey while gently Patting the old man's back.

Ivan took on his offer and leaned himself on the closest corner in the house, covering his face with his cap.

I realized the old man must've not wanted to answer my question, and Mickey possibly switched turns with him on purpose to kindly shut me up.

What a Way to save his ass Mickey!

"Sorry for asking, don't mind me! I'm just a curious bitch...sort of." I said clearing my throat.

I just stepped on an emotional mine of someone minutes after meeting them!

"No problem, Kiddo goodnight." replied Ivan to me.

"Goodnight." I said to him as I stood up and joined Mickey by the window, he was looking at the area surrounding us with a pair of binoculars.

or was it night vision goggles?...ugh, The name doesn't matter.

"Tragic past and trauma, I guess these are also as common as amnesia around here... That's a zombie apocalypse for ya!" I jokingly said, Mickey slightly smiled " Yeah it's the apocalypse for ya Captain..."

This captain thing again...

"So Mickey, you keep calling me Captain, are you sure it's me dude? If so, you said that you thought I died?!

Can you like, explain?" I nervously asked, while talking the binoculars from his hands.

Mickey took a deep breath before he started telling me his side of my story, "okay so...that day,

I saw a hoard of zombies jump on you, we were...well I was trying to save a bunch of kids whom I spotted from the tree house, just like now, I saw them through those binoculars.

The kids were being chased down by tons of dead walkers.

It might seem calm now, but this place used to have more infected in the past.

That day, the other teams in town were against saving the kids, saying it was too dangerous and would only result in getting us killed.

they said the kids were only going to be a waste resources anyways, more mouths to feed...the town people aren't bad people, it's just that they were being reasonable and at that moment my own team even agreed with them." Mickey said.

A waste of resources? How cruel... children aren't brought by choice you know.

"So what happened next?" I asked.

"I couldn't leave them behind, I went alone...I strayed away from the team.

my team, We were five ppl in total, this is our tree house.

it was Me, the captain I mean you (Y/N), Omar my best friend and the Jackson twins." he continued.

Wait, I agreed to abandon the kids? damn! guess we all lie about doing the right thing, when the opportunity comes.

" Let me guess mickey, you thought you can save the kids by yourself, didn't you?" I stated handing him back his binoculars.

He nodded with his head " that's what I thought, but I thought wrong.

And I almost got killed saving whomever was still alive from those kids, if it wasn't for you and Omar...you guys created a distraction for the zombies so me and the kids can escape." he said slowly drawing another deep breath.
