Chapter 2: Recruitment
A week quickly went by, so it was time for the two boys to leave. They were bot getting a little emotional, since they had never really been anywhere but at this orphanage. Adrian had been there since his parents died from a disease, Adrian was 2 years back then. Joby had been there since he was one, and he didn't know anything of his parents.
So they looked at mother Ilene and Ingolf as their parents, since those two had always looked after them.
At the moment, Adrian and Joby, was standing at the entrance to the orphanage, with Ilene and Ingolf to say goodbye. The other kids in the orphanage was not close to them, since they didn't really care for the two boys.
all 4 that stood in the door had tears in the eyes, since they were really important to each other, but in the end, both Adrian and Joby got a determined look in there eyes, they said their goodbyes, and left together to start their journey.
The two boys had been to the city a few times before, with mother Ilene before, but at the moment, the town looks so much better. It is much more vibrant. The houses was all placed in beautiful straight lines, with wide paved streets going in between them. One could see in the middle, that there was a big marketplace, with a lot of stall.
If you looked a little further into the town, you could see the mayors mansion, and outside that mansion, was a big plaza, where a lot of citizens stood. they are all waiting in line, for the military recruitment.
One could also see a smaller line beside the big one. Most of the people in the small line had dejected and sad faces, which was probably the people who had been rejected. In this country, the military was very well looked upon, since it was well payed, and you had a chance to become noble.
"Look Joby, that is where you should go! I will go with you, and see how you do!" Adrian said to Joby. He really didn't need to point it out, since Joby was already looking at the place, with starry eyes.
"HAHA, finally I can be a soldier!" He was so excited, that he actually started to running straight through the paved streets of the town. Adrian just laughed, and followed Joby with a big smile, happy for his childhood friend.
When they arrived at the plaza, they were really surprised at how many there really was, it did not look that bad from where they stood before. They suddenly got their eyes on a sign, where all the requirements for the recruitment was.

Suddenly he hears a voice yelling at him "NEXT!!", Jobi gets a jump scare and looks up at the man that yelled at him. Adrian laughed hard at Jobys reaction. Jobi gives Adrian a wry smile, and walks up to the recruiter who yelled at him.
The man suddenly says to him "show me your stats" and Jobi shows him the stats right away.
"Oh, a berserker, and a dual axed one at that! Quite the rare class I must say, and you strength stat is definitely the highest that have been here today! Let me call for a man, who knows more than me!" The recruiter looked very excited, he looked at Jobi like he was looking at a rare treasure.
This only made Adrians smile even wider, he was really proud of his childhood friend.
"Bruccus, I have a new recruit for you" Yelled the recruiter at a big man of around 2 meter in height, and big and burly muscles in the background. The big man called Bruccus looks over with curiosity.
"Oh Jarvan, what did you find for me?"
"Look for yourself" He answered, still with a very excited look.
Bruccus started to walk over, and Adrian could swear, that he could feel the ground shaking for every step that monster of a man took. When Bruccus arrived, he was towering 15 cm over the already big Jobi. He suddenly swings his massive hand towards Jobi, it came so fast that, almost no one there could react.
Both Adrian and Jobi reacted to the swing, Jobi blocked the swing with his arms, and Adrian had run over there, taken his spear out from his back, and thrusted towards Bruccus's throat. Luckily Bruccus was very fast, and could react to the spear thrust. He took a hold of the spear, right under the top of the spear and start laughing like a madman.
"HAHAHAHAHA, good reactions boys, I am impressed! you big boy, have very powerful strength and reflexes! and you spearman have good speed, with great reactions!" he started to compliment them for what they accomplished. "So, you two want to join the army?"
"YES" "no" They answered and the exact same time, and Adrian continued speaking "I don't want to get into the military, I want to become an adventurer to fight strong monsters" He said the last part with a battle thirsty grin.
"Oh, so only big boy will join? Too bad, you are a big talent kiddo, but a talent like big guy over there is already great!" Bruccus said, he was really excited for Joby to join the army, but also a little sad that Adrian rejected him.
"Anyway, my name is Bruccus, and I am a general of the army, and my job is to recruit new talent for the army! And who are you two?" the big guy quickly cam over his disappointment of Adrian rejecting him.
"I am Jobi, and I am an orphan, of this times orphanage! glad to meet you!"
"My name is Adrian, and I am the exact same as Jobi, and orphan!"
"Well Jobi, welcome to the army" Bruccus said to Jobi, and gave him a pad on the shoulder.
