Chapter 39: Rising of Shield Demon-2

"Hah!" Winter Schnee, once Atlasian soldier now waifu, yelled as she stabbed another balloon like monster. The orange spherical being popping as her saber pierced through it's... skin? She wasn't sure if that was the right term for a balloon.

"Nice." Her new leader said with a smile as he watched but Winter could see the small amount of bitterness in his eyes. He really didn't like the fact that he couldn't attack and was forced to only defend due to his shield. A rather impressive weapon that came with too many restrictions in Winter's opinion.

The power to evolve and give new abilities through absorbing materials, she couldn't help but wonder if such a weapon could have brought Salem down in her world.

Winter shook her head, thinking such things was entirely pointless. What she should think at the moment was how to get her original level of power back best while also incorporating her new Maiden abilities into her battle style as well.

"Let's rest a bit, not that I got to do anything." He said as he sat down with a smile.

Naofumi was... weird. She loved him, even though she knew that the love she felt was artificial and forced on her, but the way he acted... It was like he was some sort of unholy version of Ozpin with a sense of humor and far looser morals.

He was strong though, the act of unlocking his aura had left her out of breath and even though he couldn't attack; she wasn't sure she could get through his defenses. Sure she was just level thirteen at the moment, but the point stands.

"So, anything you want?" He asked as he took a sip from his canteen of water.

"What?"

"Anything you want, as in after we have dealt with this world and have the whole multiverse at the top of our fingertips. Anything you want?" He clarified and Winter had to admit, she was stumped.

When she had appeared in front of her new master, she had been… wary. She loved him, a result of her enslavement method, but she wasn't blind to the fact that there was a very good chance of him being some sort of maniac who would merely use her and the others as some sort of tool. To be used and discarded. Yet he was actually asking what she wanted, it… it likely meant that he was better than the worst case scenarios she had imagined.

"I… am not sure. I think I would like to see my sister again, or even my mother." She said, not exactly lying but not telling the full truth either. Mostly because she wasn't sure she wanted to accept the truth about what she really wanted.

She remembered her own world, and how Atlas had fallen. A joint attack from the followers of Salem and the White Fang. She had watched that maniac Adam Taurus decapitate her mother, the monster Sienna Khan stab her own brother and that bitch Cinder burning general Ironwood.

She wanted revenge. She wanted those who took everything from her on their knees. At her mercy! And that scared her. She knew that White Fang had been a peaceful organization that turned into a band of monsters due to their hatred. Hatred that had its cause in her father.

She didn't want to be a part of that circle, but she also did want it so bad as well. It was confusing.

"Then we can do that, after we save this world full of ingrate morons." Naofumi smiled at her and she could feel herself smiling as well.

Saving the world, she could get behind that.

"What about you? What do you want to do after this world?" She asked.

"Well, fortunately what I want to do does not have to wait until we are done with this world." He said with a laugh.

"And that is?"

"Conquest." And that killed her smile and replaced it with a frown.

"Oh do not look at me like that. I don't intend to just go guns blazing and demanding people to worship me at my feet. There are better ways for conquest; economy, technology, theology. I want people to bend knee to me willingly. To make my principles their principles, to see me and themselves as not separate but as us. That, is real conquest." He said with a smile, his eyes holding a glint of ambition and madness. The worst part of it?

It excited her so much!

"Well, this is quite a victory." I said as I stood beside Winter and Tsunade over our defeated foe.

It was a wolf, a really big one. It had the physical might to seriously hurt me and fur dense enough that Winter's sword could barely hurt the beast. If it wasn't for Tsunade's healing and Winter's maiden magic, we could have very well ended up dead.

"Did you have to provoke the thing with insults to its mother?" Tsunade asked with a frown.

"No, but it was funny." I admitted freely with a shrug.

"Winter, can you?" I asked the Atlas specialist who nodded and created a glyph from which the white form of the wolf we had just killed appeared from it.

"Cool." That was the great thing about glyph semblance of the Schnees. It could summon these ethereal forms of monsters they killed. Normally that would limit them to just Grimm as the Remnant had no other monsters. But in a fantasy world like this? It would be glorious!

"So, I heard about your little conquest plan from Winter." Tsunade said as she approached me while I was dismantling the wolf and unlocking new shields with its parts.

"Any objections?"

"Hell no, just make sure that you do it in a bloody way when it comes to my world." The grand daughter of Senju Hashirama said with a snort.

"You really hate your world huh?"

"It is built on a culture that is all about raising children to throw themselves to their deaths for the profit of old bastards that never move their asses." She said, her voice filled with hate.

"Well, we'll deal with that later. We gotta focus on this world first after all." I said with a shrug.

"Do you have a plan for that? We might have the potential to be strong but I would rather we do not deal with the whole world by ourselves." She asked and I smiled at her.

"I have somewhere around… forty percent of a plan. But you do not have to worry." I said as I placed my hand above the corpse of the world.

"Arise." And a shadow in the shape of the monster we had felled rose from the corpse, its head low as he bowed before us.

"We won't have to do it by ourselves."
