Chapter 12: Chapter 12: The “fake” genius

*Third Person POV*

"Haaa."

After explaining what happened, Kirari could only sigh at her dad's decision.

To summarize, the company he worked for was letting go of some employees for an unknown reason. Some of the unfortunate chosen were his close friends and interns that he personally trained.

When he went to complain to the human resources department, they told him that it was the decision of the higher ups and couldn't do anything about it.

Upset over how the company treated its hard working employees, he decided to resign to show that he did not want to be a part of a company that can easily throw away its valued employees without giving a proper reason.

It might have been a rash decision, but it did earn Haruto the respect of those that were fired. Even Kirari was amazed of his integrity even though his decision was a little irresponsible…

"Don't worry guys. As the man of the house, I promise to find another job as soon as possible. It should not be hard considering my quirk…" He told his family to reassure them.

Hikari, as Haruto's wife, had no worries. If worse comes to worst, she can become the breadwinner for the family with her job as a pro hero. She would just have to become more serious about it and actively try to raise her hero ranking to earn more money.

Kirari, on the other hand, used her big brain along with Gamer's Mind to its fullest potential.

She thought about the best course of action that can help out her parents and further her plans at the same time.

She did not have to think too hard to come up with a good idea.

Immediately, Kirari stood up from her chair and dashed to her room.

That's right, she finally had her very own room. One that she did not share with anybody else.

It was a normal room that's fit for an 8-year-old.

It comes with a normal bed, a normal closet, a normal desk, and a super normal shrine in a corner, which took up thirty percent of the room, dedicated to the Video Game God, Dio-sama.

Earlier today, she gave a small prayer at the shrine to thank Dio-sama for her new life and the recent level up.

She headed to the shrine and opened a hidden compartment. From there, she pulled out a large suitcase.

She took out a key that she wore around her neck and unlocked the suitcase. Forcing it open without this key would result in a little surprise for the person snooping around…

Inside the suitcase was the current set of equipment that she used for nighttime grinding.

Ignoring those, she grabbed a folder from the bottom of her suitcase.

Inside the folder were designs and blueprints that she came up with along with the help of a certain friend that she met a year ago.

Kirari took out some designs of gadgets, electronic devices, and various computer parts that were from her world in her past life.

She was a person who previously lived during the digital age, where any information that was needed was a simple browser search away.

In her past life, Kirari had researched about technology in order to build the most majestic gaming computer she could on a tight budget.

'This part from this brand is superior to this one because of the capacitors? Why? Let me ask Go*gle…'

'SSD is better and faster than HDD but more expensive? What is NAND flash? Enlighten me, Mr. Goo*le.'

'Air cooling or water cooling… Hmmm. Googl*-sensei, onegaishimasu!'

She even tried to research about gaming capsules in hopes of finding a solution for her problem with them, but only got minimal results as the technology for those was too recent.

Kirari was able to make these designs and blueprints with the help of her 15 Mental.

Even though she does not have perfect eidetic memory, she was still able to recall most of her past life knowledge, including tech stuff she researched about.

The development of technology in this world had stagnated due to the emergence of quirks. This was because most of the research focus was put on quirks.

As a result, the technology from her first life was leagues above the technology in this one.

But even then, Kirari only had limited knowledge of the concepts and ideas of the "future" technology.

If it wasn't for the help of her friend, who was able to understand Kirari's vague explanations and then convert them to this world's current technological standards, she wouldn't have been able to redesign some of the items on her blueprints.

Kirari flipped through the papers and took out a few. She then ran back to the dining room after locking up her suitcase and shoving it back in the shrine's hidden compartment.

"Dad! Quick, take a look at these!" Kirari said excitedly while handing Haruto the blueprints.

Curious at Kirari's change of attitude, he took the blueprints and look through them.

"These are…!!!" Haruto's expression shifted from shock to concentration to contemplation as he read through the blueprints.

"Honey? What did you just give to your dad?" Hikari asked Kirari after she also became curious.

She knew a long time ago that her daughter was "above normality".

"It's-"

"It's amazing! Beautiful! Revolutionary! Kirari, where did you get these blueprints?!" Kirari wanted to explain but was interrupted by her dad.

Haruto, after carefully scrutinizing the blueprints, immediately bombarded Kirari with questions.

He flickered towards her at a speed no slower than All Might in all those promotional videos.

'Flash step?!'

This should have been impossible considering his quirk only allowed him to accurately sense electrical charges.

Kirari explained the "innovative" concepts in her designs. Haruto, who was a licensed electric engineer, grew more and more amazed and fascinated.

He found that all of the things she explained sounded feasible to him!

"… With this, the processing speed of computers will double the current max… and this phone design is so sleek and minimalistic, yet can have superior specs and more features than the most recently released laptops… but why is there no earphone jack?"

After the explanation, Haruto continuously mumbled to himself, thinking of possible applications of the things his daughter taught him.

Hikari had barely kept up with the conversation.

'As expected of my daughter. She got the best part about my husband, his smarts. Everything else, she got from me of course.' She thought nodding to herself.

Denki decided to just focus on his dinner and leave the family problems to his reliable younger sister.

Even though he was still young and immature, Denki can already tell that Kirari was more like the older sibling than he was.

Despite being the older brother, he never truly felt like one. She never asked or relied on him for anything.

In fact, most of the time, it was her who was looking after him.

And he was totally fine with that.

What kind of guy wouldn't want to get pampered by their cute younger sister?

Probably a guy with an inferiority complex or has too much pride.

Thankfully, most of Denki's pride flew away when his quirk overuse side effect was revealed.

Aside from the times she used him as a scapegoat to get out of trouble, or pranked him under the veil of "quirk training", he had no complaints about Kirari.

"… You came up with these designs yourself?" Haruto asked after his deliberation.

Kirari was worried her parents would question the origins of her knowledge.

It could lead them to finding out about her reincarnation after all.

Originally, she did not want to reveal these blueprints until a few years later, when she and her friend were able to make a prototype.

But the opportunity came up where she can advance her plans by a good amount and she wanted to take it.

Plus, the best daughter in the world has got to keep her family's best interests in mind.

"No. I have a friend who helped…" She said reluctantly.

"I see… Oh wait! We got off topic. Kirari, why did you want to show these to me all of a sudden?" Haruto asked after noticing her reluctance.

Kirari was surprised when her dad decided to just change the topic, or rather, go back to the original topic.

She had underestimated how highly her family viewed her intelligence.

To her defense, they never tried to openly show it because they didn't want her to become arrogant.

They just acted like the usual quirky, doting parents.

Not letting go of this chance to avoid more questioning, she asked,

"Well, Dad's previous job was manager of a research and development department, right?"

"Right." Haruto raised an eyebrow.

"And you think mine and my friend's designs are amazing, right?"

"Right. But also revolutionary!" Haruto exclaimed emphasizing the last word.

"Then, with your experience, resources, and connections, do you think you can make a prototype of those devices?" Kirari asked hopefully.

"Hmmm. I guess I can. I'd have to call in some favors though. Even then, without proper specialized manufacturing equipment, the end result will probably be much bulkier compared to the design. Why?"

Her excitement building up, she asked the most important question.

"Because I thought, instead of looking for a new job, what if Dad makes a new company with those designs as the first products?"

At this moment, unknown to her, Kirari's left eye slightly sparkled a deep purple.

The sparkle in her left eye went unnoticed as Haruto was too shocked by his daughter's suggestion.

After thinking for a good while, he finally answered.

"That's… a genius idea!"

And so, the Kaminari's dominance in the electronics market began.

Chapter End

A/N:

I swear, I learned a lot of stuff when I first built my gaming computer. In order to get the most out of my super tight budget, I researched parts, compared them, and then chose compatible ones that fit my needs.

Now, when a game I want to play requires better hardware or when a part breaks, I just buy specific parts, learning about new tech along the way.

Point is, if I can do it, then MC can do the same, especially since she comes from our future world. However, the finer details such as circuit designs and layout aren't revealed online so there was no way for MC to remember that.

So, I introduced a friend from MHA who can assist in inventing stuff using what the MC knows. Anything that can't properly be explained, I will make the excuse of saying it was solved by Haruto Kaminari and the new company.

The friend will be revealed later but smart MHA fans probably already know who it is.
