Chapter 16: Issue #4
The rest of the week flew by for Jack. Since he did not have to attend classes, he did just that. Instead, Jack spent his time prepping for the mission they had to undertake on Friday night. By the time it was finally the weekend, Jack had already come up with a plan.
--- 9 PM, Excellence Dorm training grounds ---
All of the Hellions were present and accounted for as well as Emma. She was the true leader of the team while Jack was more of the field leader and vice-captain. Emma's job was to train the team and assign them missions while Jack's job was to make sure they didn't die. To each other or their enemies.
The first mission was dealing with one of the biggest supporters of the White Rook, a man by the name of Elliot Trevor. Trevor was a man of immense wealth like many members of the Hellfire Club. He was so powerful that he was eligible for a position in the Inner Circle.
"Your mission is to kill Elliot Trevor. He is hiding out here," Emma pointed toward a building in a 3D projection. "This place will be heavily guarded and the men there will aim to kill. Do not hold back on their behalf or you will die."
This was the task and the purpose of the Hellions. They were not only there to inherit the future positions in the Inner Circle but were also the sword and shield of the current members. Their job was to eliminate any threats to the Black King, Black Queen, Black Bishop, Black Rook, and White Queen.
Since the other 3 were traitors, the group would not follow their orders. In fact, they would most likely have to kill the White King, Rook, and Bishop in the future.
The team of 7 suited up in their uniforms. The Hellions uniform consisted of a weird reddish-purple and black. In Jack's words, "It looked like someone saw a set of cheap, knockoff playing cards and decided to use that color scheme with the painting style of one of those weird artists."
The Hellions boarded their private jet. Yukio was the pilot. She flew the jet through the underground passages until they pulled out about 30 miles away in the ocean.
The jet took to the sky and began flying at an incredibly fast rate. Their target was in North Carolina. The ride there took the group about an hour in their upgraded jet so it was barely after 10 PM when they arrived.
Hovering in the clouds above Elliot Trevor's mansion, the group was watching the guards move around and discussing some last-minute plans.
{Everyone knows what they need to do? Everyone connected to the network} Jack asked through the telepathic connection he formed with the others
The others nodded after hearing the adjustments to the plan and got into the position at the back of the jet. Yukio enlarged 6 playing cards that all the members of the Hellions except Jack stood on.
The cards began to float and take the group down towards the mansion. Jack spread his wings and flew right behind them. What happened next was too swift for most to react.
Instead of attacking the outer perimeter as people do on most shows and movies, the group landed directly on top of the roof. Yukio used her cards to create a hole in the roof that the group quickly entered from.
The 7 moved as one and started attacking the guards one after another. Each person they met was killed swiftly and efficiently. With a few of the kills, Jack was even able to grab a few skills. After killing about 30 men, they arrived outside Elliot's room.
The team was about to enter the room when Sharon growled at them as a warning.
{What's wrong?} Jack asked through the telepathic bond
{Explosives! This door is rigged and will blow us away if we enter.} Sharon responded
{Shit! Does he always do this or have we been exposed?} Fabian worried
{If we were exposed, we would be getting shot at. This man knows who he has made enemies of and needs to be prepared.} Jack reasoned
{What's the plan, Jack?} Yukio asked. The other Hellions turned their attention to Jack and wanted his answer as well
Jacked reached out to the person in the room to try and probe his mind but felt that he couldn't form a full connection. Something was blocking him.
'He is definitely afraid of us. That psychic dampener means he knows that he was being targeted yet he still dared to go against the Inner Circle? Such a fool. Luckily for me, he's a man.'
Although Jack was unable to get into Elliot's mind, Jack was able to reach into the minds of the 3 women that were lying in bed with him. With a little bit of mental gymnastics, two of the women were armed with guns that Elliot kept hidden in his room while the last was starting to set fire to the rest of the room.
The smoke woke up Elliot but as soon as he tried to sit up, he was put back down. Several silenced gunshots rang in the room. Once he confirmed that Elliot was dead, Jack nodded to himself.
{The mission is done. Let's go!}
The Hellions retreated and got back on the tarot cards before flying into the air and back to the jet. By the time they reached the jet, the fire had turned into an inferno that was burning a quarter of the mansion. With this, the death of Elliot Trevor was confirmed.
Yukio sent a message to Emma letting her know of the team's victory before getting back into the pilot's seat and flying them back towards the school.
Jack was going over the skills he had gained from killing the different guards. Jack had never killed so many humans before. In fact, he had only killed Astrid. So there were several surprises for him.
Skills were very different from powers and abilities. First off, they were ranked. From what Jack could tell, there were 5 ranks to skills. They were Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, and Master.
Novice and Apprentice were the two weakest ranks that most skills were at for people with a mild interest in them. Adept was for someone that is very experienced in a certain field. Expert meant a person was ranked to a higher degree than most people could reach. And Master was someone that was at the peak of their field.
Although Jack had seen skills from each of these ranks, the ones that the henchmen had that were Expert and Master rank were useless to Jack so he didn't pick any of them since all the Master and Expert ranks that Jack saw had to do with playing the skin-flute.
He also noticed that the skill orbs were silverish-white. This is most likely why he had not noticed them before when he killed Astrid since they looked very similar to the normal white abilities.
All skills were also passive. It was like when Emma had uploaded information into his brain and he instantly knew it and could recall the information at will. The skill was always there for him so Jack could use it without a thought in the right situations.
