Chapter 2: The Alpha
The next morning...
Yoongi found his way back to the town, it was overgrown by the forest and had been abandoned by the Single Forms long before their pack had made it their home. Now he looked at the town through a wolfs eyes and saw the town refreshed.
By the orange, yellow and dark green of the forest. He walked towards his home on the edge of town, it was once a bait shop for the fishermen who inhabited the small village on the lakes edge. He collapsed into his bed, hiding his smile in the pillow. That was the best night of his life and he felt excited to see V again, the nerves and guilt he felt were gone. He daydreamed of running into the forest and back to him...
He was so caught in his daydreams that he hadn't even noticed the figure in the corner.
"So you steal my place as alpha and can't even realize when your being hunted."
Yoongi rolled out of bed and into his wolf form, growling at the trespasser.
"Oh how intimidating" He walked up to him and tapped his nose. "But that isn't going to be enough to scare me, Big Boy."
Yoongi transformed back as Jimin threw him some clothes. "I picked them from your closet. Wear them, today you become a real Alpha."
He took the clothes to the bathroom and heard a giggle behind him. He spun around ready to throw out accusations but caught the Alpha looking down. He raised an eyebrow before covering him mouth and leaving the room.
He unfolded the clothes, to reveal a solid black suit. He held it up, he had bought it weeks ago, after receiving an invitation to the royal ball. But he hadn't thought that he might actually go. It was just a daydream, like a passing thought which he couldn't escape.
But for now, he had to learn to be an Alpha, he walked outside his house to where Jimin stood surrounded by boxes which were slowly being picked up and carried to a cart. "You'll be moving into the royal estate, courtesy of Prince charming, but don't worry, I live there as well." He said with a wink. "All alphas live there." He said it playfully but Yoongi sensed the sadness beneath it.
"I wanted you to be the next alpha, I was glad when you were selected." It seemed to catch Jimin off guard and he turned around with a sad smile.
"Thank you but it was only fate that a true Alpha would be selected. In fact I'm glad that..." He smiled again nodding his head. "Another time actually."
Yoongi walked towards the cart but Jimin grabbed his shoulder. He stopped dead in his place, his heart racing. He couldn't tell if the reaction was because of his mate touching him for the first time, or if this was the aura of a true alpha wolf. He leaned past him and smiled.
"We should walk together, I think." Yoongi nodded and couldn't help but smile from the positivity - and beauty of the man leaning on him.
They began to walk, opting to walk on the lakeside path rather than the main road. There was no awkwardness as Jimin pointed out the ducks and lizards they spotted alongside the path, he wore the mask of a happy and content person. But Yoongi still felt out of place, like he was not seeing the true feelings of the man infront of him.
"Jimin, do you resent me." Yoongi asked, he turned to him and smiled.
"Do you always say whatever is on your mind... Its a good trait but it might get you in a little bit of trouble, so I recommend more tact in future." He laughed and continued but Yoongi stayed tied in place.
"You didn't answer me. You pretend to be so happy but this must upset you." His smile evaporated.
"Of course it does, but I am not angry with you, just the gods who cast me aside." Yoongi tried to hide his sadness.
"I'm sorry, I would not have cursed any of you to be my mate- If I had a choice I would-"
"I know, but that is one choice of fate I could never hate. When we were children and all of us played together before we were Alpha and Omega, you were my greatest rival. I hated you with a burning passion, I thought of you everyday thinking. I hope I can beat him today. And then you disappeared and I hated you for that and now we have been put together again. And I suppose I hate you for that too. And last night, I lay awake thinking of that hatred and thinking that perhaps, no matter how annoying you are, I loved you all along. Or at least I always knew that you were my mate, even if I have to share you."
"But you still dislike me."
"Yes and No, you have done nothing to prove yourself. I will see you as a man who got lucky but you will have to defeat me before I recognize you as my mate."
Yoongi blushed and looked towards the lake, but then he looked back and smiled. "I don't think you have any idea how strong I am."
"Well test me then?"
