Chapter 4: Friends and Family
Jack opened his eyes to the sound of the beeping life support machine that was next to him, he could barely move. His head still aching from the hits he had received recently. He noticed he was in a hospital he didn't know how long but he knew it felt like it had been a while. He looked around he noticed the girl's handbag next to him, was someone there with him? Of course, there had to be someone around. He had been in a hospital.
A girl barged in quickly holding two cups of coffee.
"Hey Scarlet am already at the hospital and I have coffee for you, so don't buy one," she spoke over the phone. She slowly placed the cups on the table, then hung up her phone call.
"Alex." he was shocked by who he saw.
"Oh my god," she jumped from surprise,"What.... are you doing…..here?" he was fighting for his ability to speak but couldn't last since he hadn't recovered yet. "save that for later brother. You haven't recovered yet, doctor said you incurred heavy head injury and lost a lot of blood from the hole in your." she pointed at his stomach where they had bandaged.
"And also, Dad wants you to stop." she sounded serious with that, "you keep getting hurt like a normal human just because you admire them. We are not cut out for this, you know that right."
"You don't understand what's at stake if those things ever cross over to this world. He said looking at her "You and dad may never understand but someday you'll see."
"See what? That you keep getting hurt huh... Playing hero won't save them Jack, humans die anyway." Alex raised her voice.
The door opened and Scarlet walked through holding a balloon and flowers "Hey, heard from the nurses you were alive so I had to run back and buy these..." she turned to the cold mood in the room and realised that the two twins had been arguing.
"Okay, I see what's going on here," she said settling down the balloons and a bouquet of flowers. Then walked to Jack who was still on the bed "Why do you keep getting hurt. With that power you should be able to fight easily." she argued.
"And for the fact, they were ogres that makes it even more complicated to explain," Alex added.
"That's the thing they weren't normal. They all had red eyes and this insane Aura of bloodlust I couldn't crack. " Jack said.
"Red!" Alex looked at him "that's the colour of chaos magic."
"Are you trying to say they were under the influence of chaos," asked Scarlet, "but that's impossible, right? you know cause she dead."
Alex looked like she was getting worried about this conversation's destination. She crossed her arms and pressed them onto her chest while biting her lower lip. Jack glanced at her and noticed that something was troubling her.
"what are you hiding?" he asked," spill."
Scarlet was still quiet trying to get her mind over everything.
"Weeks back I fought something similar to that." She said, "goblins to be exact they were all super strong and had a blood lust. With red eyes and at the end they spoke of something known as the awakening of chaos."
"The awakening." that rang a bell to Scarlet "The chaos awakening. I have heard of it somewhere its the legend presumed to be the return of the chaos lords." she said, "according to some books it's said that it was Agatha the lord of destruction who destroyed chaos and in theory, Chaos can't destroy chaos." she looked at the both of them.
"Whose Agatha?" Jack asked "That's the dumbest question I have ever heard." said Alex
"She's the lord destruction also believed to be the greatest mage to ever walk this earth. She could summon power so great it makes president Walker seem like a baby in terms of power."
"Oh really," said Alex
"Theoretically speaking," said Scarlet then pulled out the phone and showed them an image of the lord, it was a woman a very young beautiful woman with very black hair and crimson coloured eyes dressed in a green sort of cloak.
"The crimson colour of her eyes showed the power of chaos and the green showed how she was connected to magic I think," she said
Jack moved his head in pain "But President Walker claims he killed all of them from Argus to Athrin, that's the most accurate story I have heard.", "because no one else was there," said Scarlet.
"Anyway, I will keep digging on that history project so in the meantime we shouldn't talk about this to anyone," Alex suggested.
"Indeed if anyone else finds out on what we know it may put us in deep shit." said Jack, "cool then we will keep it a secret."
But Jack kept on gazing at Alex he felt like she knew more than she had mentioned. Alex returned the gaze but she wasn't going to give him what he wanted.
"So Scarlet got into Bolton the magic division to be precise the human division is not sure." she switched topics immediately escaping his attention.
"Wow, congratulations"
"Yes, we will be studying in the class with Scarlet starting next week though she will be under the guidance of Prof. Hayward. Like some teacher's pet." they laughed together. These were Scarlet's best moments of the day. when she spent them with her best friends
The three of them had been best friends since they were six. Alex and Jack were twins both had green eyes sliver hair but were completely different. Jack was soft and kind while Alex was rough and tough, they were like royalty since they came from the pure blood lords of order. They all met on the same day in kindergarten when a bully had threatened to bet up Jack if he didn't give him his lunch but before he could beat the poor boy Scarlet and Alex swept and fought off the bully together. Not only did they win they also gave birth to the ultimate friendship.
"Okay, so I have a history test on magic craft tomorrow and I haven't yet read for it so if it's okay I would like to swoop down at the library and....."
"We get it your in Bolton now. You can go now we are fine here," said Alex.
"Thanks, Alex and You to Jack." he smiled as she grabbed her bag and scarf then ran out the door. Leaving Jack and Alex.
He sighed with relief and he turned to Alex.
"Father mustn't know."
"He won't."

Scarlet was now at the city library, she didn't know how long it had been but for sure it had been very long enough for her to be one of the last people remaining. She looked at the pile of books that were now in front of her.
"My god.....Scarlet Raymond." A woman sat right next to her, Scarlet noticed that it was the secretary from the office back at Bolton though she looked different now her skin was pale, her eyes sunken and once blonde hair had turned almost grey.
"Miss Rachel," she was surprised, "what are you doing here?"
"Oh no don't call me Miss we are way past that just call me Rachel. And for what am doing well...It felt like I needed a late-night read but I haven't quite found it yet. And you what are doing" she giggled
"Well am reading for a test." Rachel stood up. she was dressed in a pink long nightdress the kind that was worn by old women
"Oh, okay. But tell me is it true that you have a strong connection to the lanes." Scarlet didn't feel safe "yes I do." she answered, "as I have heard."
"Amazing then I have to kill you. You're a danger to the world."
"Excuse me what…." she felt a force pull her from her seat and throw her into the bookshelves. She couldn't believe what just happened, the pain was unbearable but the adrenaline was keeping her from feeling most of it. She tried to pull herself up but whatever that was it was strong enough to break the shelf with her body and so had shattered her backbone
"Am so sorry Scarlet but I can't let a person powerful as you roam around free." Rachel's eyes now glowed red, her fingertips were emitting a red like energy like she was charging an attack.
Scarlet noticed it was the red eyes they had spoken of earlier. "Please I don't want to die." she struggled for her life.
I know but you are a threat to my return so I must kill you girl."
She released a straight beam of red energy directly to Scarlet, she closed her eyes waiting for death but something blocked it and as a result, a huge explosion happened to destroy half the library.
Scarlet opened her eyes to see Alex. "We need to go." she looked drained from the previous spell.
"I am impressed daughter of order let me try that again." Rachel praised and charged another attack
"Am not sure I can block another one of those. Can you walk?" asked Alex. "No, I can't feel my legs at all. " you will be fine, I can get you to a healer who will fix you up real quick."
Alex helped her up using her shoulder. She conjured up another spell that just dragged them to Scarlet's apartment in an instant before the attack could hit them.
They both fell right in front of Miranda who was watching television, she jumped from her seat "Oh my god. Alex...Scarlet."
"No talk I need you to heal fast. She has a shattered backbone and …."

Miranda didn't rush "Put her on the floor." she cast the spell so fast you could think she knew the spell at heart." But before she could finish green energy glowed from Scarlet's Body.
"Is this you?" Alex asked, staring at the green energy.
"No, but I think she's healing herself." Miranda was shocked by what she was seeing it was self-regeneration a power reserved for only the lords of balance was happening right in front of her. She had never seen something like this in all her years. Scarlet's wounds and broken bones all healed on their own.
"Amazing." Alex couldn't believe what she saw. "What the hell has just happened." she turned to Miranda who was clearly as surprised as she was.

His shoe made a tapping sound from the hard knock of his heel as he quickly made his way to Hayward's office. He knocked the door off with his brute strength and found Hayward who was reading a book then.
"President walker what brings you here in the middle of the night." he sounded so calm.
"Did you feel that?" he asked angrily
"Feel what.". "Don't bullshit me Hayward he yelled, "you know exactly what am speaking of."
Hayward pretended to be surprised "Oh... Chaos' aura. I just thought that this conversation could have been a text."
"It's growing stronger," Walker mentioned
