Chapter 28: Marquis Raeven was kidnapped?

[Present Time]

Narberal slowly walked out of a round pitch black portal. Unlike the portal made from [Gate], this portal was hazy in appearance, and different in colour. The reason for this was that, it wasn't the exact 9th-Tier [Gate] spell.

The spell Narberal used to create the inter-dimensional portal was the 8th-Tier spell, [Egress]. Although Narberal is a powerful magic caster, she can't cast a 9th-Tier spell without external support. So, she used a lower level version of [Gate], which is the second highest tier of teleportation magic.

While [Gate] has many functions and connects the two dimensional points regardless of the distance, [Egress] has a certain limit of three hundred miles. The size of the [Gate] can also be controlled to the caster's preference to larger degree, but [Egress] restricts the teleportation of more than ten entries per casting.

Except those restriction, it has same functions as [Gate]. Due to this, it is superior to [Greater Teleportation] being the second highest tier of teleportation magic. That's why the portal that Narberal appeared out of was hazy in appearance compared to [Gate].

...

Looking ahead you can see Marquis Raeven on the ground in a panicked state.

"Wh.. Who are you?"

He was scared, really scared. It's not like he hadn't confronted mercenaries and faced assassinations. Although attack on nobles wasn't common in Re-Estize Kingdom, high-ranking nobles had faced life and death situation at least once in a lifetime.

They were basically protected by their elite guards. A high ranking noble, they have nothing but money and authority. Using those, they would eventually hire some adventurers or train their guards. So, it would be natural to stay calm in the current situation.

But now, he wasn't calm in the least.

"Guards! Franzen! Come here quickly."

Marquis Raeven shouted wildly calling for help. As a high ranking noble and leader of the royal faction, he has the best of the guards protecting him outside the door. And Franzen is the orichalcum rank adventurer who had accompanied him to villareal residence today.

He is also one of the top five ex-adventurer contracted by Marquis Raeven. Usually they would be in their headquarters or in Marquis Raeven's fief doing their usual work, but he eventually called for Franzen to protect him in villareal residence.

It's just that, as a leader of the royal faction and the one considering to turn to the princess, he didn't want Franzen to stay in his room. So, he was stationed outside along with some elite guards of villareal.

But who would have thought that, the assassin could directly appear in his room without opening the door. He was clearly afraid of such unknown means. So, he tried his best to call for help from outside.

On the other hand, looking at the trembling Raeven, Narberal was indifferent. She calmly stepped forward and spoke with some disgust.

"Shut up, worm. No one will be able to hear you outside of this room."

The moment Narberal entered the room, she had casted [Silent Magic] to block the sound from leaving the room. As a magic expert and an intelligence beauty, she would naturally perform the task from word to word.

That is, Albedo's words were to bring him secretly, and eliminate anyone she encounters on the process. Anyway [Silent Magic] is a basic supplementary type magic, a small amount of MP is enough for such a small space, which is a drizzle in a bucket for Narberal.

As for Marquis Raeven, he was helpless and didn't even know where he provoked such a person. From the assassin's tone you could feel the disgust. It stands to reason that his reputation isn't bad and he didn't provoke anyone recently, so why is the assassin disgusted by him.

The only reason he could think of is - Princess Renner. The upcoming fight for the throne was the only conflict he was having recently. So, he could only think of Princess, and this assassin must be the member of the backer behind the princess who gave such confidence to the princess to confront the factions all alone.

No to be precise, the lady in front of him doesn't look like an assassin, she looks like a ... maid. Another thing to notice is that, she didn't attack him, but just startled him by coming out of nowhere. So, this maid shouldn't be here to kill him. She must be like a messenger.

Thinking of this, Marquis Raeven breathed a sigh of relief. He calmed down and asked.

"Where you sent by the Princess?"

"Humans do have brains. But... you guessed it wrong. Not anyone could command me... Although the destination seems to be same. Anyway, human... you are coming with me... [Egress]."

Narberal lightly said these words and without waiting for Marquis Raeven's consent, she directly grabbed his collar and threw directly to the newly created portal whose destination is the princess Renner's office room.

The previous portal couldn't be used naturally, because she opened the portal here from the sky near the villareal residence. That was also the reason, she could take a look at the portal's destination through window.

So, she needs to create a new portal with a new destination, and she has already been to the outside of the princess's office and naturally can set that to be the destination. But she also felt that she should have visited the princess's office with [Teleportation] as in her level [Mass Teleportation] is risky and can be resulted into failure.

Now that she had to use two of the 8th-Tier spell along with the previous numerous mind interference spells, her MP is already less than half. She must think of something and recover her MP, in case she might need it in emergency.

[Princess Renner's Office]

Albedo was sitting on the chair, while Renner was standing on the side reporting some additional details. It has been only a few minutes since she sent Narberal to bring Marquis Raeven so she had to wait some more time. She knew that if no trouble arises, Narberal should arrive in a few minutes.

While listening to the additional opinion of Renner, she was rummaging through the stack of documents. Suddenly she seemed to think of something and said to Renner.

"The demon hordes will appear one of the farther lands of nobles and continue to envelope other fiefs in destruction. Unless Nazarick's army surfaces on the land, there momentum wouldn't slow down. If you have some confidant in other fiefs, then you should call them to the capital, lest you regret later."

"I don't recall any extraordinary talent or strong man in other areas that can be considered for Nazarick's level."

Renner replied calmly on the surface, but there were some fluctuations in her heart. What do you mean by continuing the destruction of the fief, unless Nazarick's army comes? and what about surfacing on the land, Are they rising from dead?

Although she had no emotional attachment towards humans, she will surely have some opinion towards her kingdom's destruction. But what could she say? At last she could only follow whatever Nazarick's plan was, at least the kingdom will be better after the destruction.

It could be said to be the creation of incredibility after destruction, and destruction is the source of all creation.

"Hmm.. You maybe right. Not all humans are gifted like you."

On the other hand, Albedo felt Renner was more and more pleasing to her eyes. It seems that Renner's intellectual carefully chosen words have improved her image in Albedo's mind.

At this time, there was a knock on the door followed by a pleasant and respectful voice.

"My I enter, lady Albedo. I have brought the human called Marquis Raeven."
