Chapter 25: C25// Third and Fourth Truths, Always Provoking Others

Wordlessly, the two began to clash. He Caitou might have been a gentle soul, but his enormous body was capable of erupting with great power. Lifting up a strange metal cannon onto his shoulder, he began to fire beams of condensed spirit energy at Xin Qing.

Xin Qing did not appear alarmed. Waving the iron sword in a set of odd motions, he chanted, "3rd Truth - Solitude."

The beams of energy that had locked on to him then instantly bent outwards away from his body. It was as if there was an invisible growing distance between the lasers and Xin Qing, unable to ever meet.

After he stopped waving his sword, the iron sword was once again seen in full view, this time now appearing somewhat worn despite not having been seen coming into contact with anything but the air itself.

Seeing this display, the group of students were able to come to a great realization. When Xin Qing said he could defeat He Caitou with a regular iron sword, it did not appear like the bluff they thought it would. Instead, there was a glint of danger emanating from even the most ordinary piece of metal. And that was because nothing was weak if it was in Xin Qing's hands. His ideology that inner strength was superior began to shed light on them.

Although He Caitou was slightly unnerved, he was a determined person and persisted in attacking Xin Qing. This caused Xin Qing to admire him slightly, as he believed that such fighting spirit demanded respect. However, he also believed that fighting spirit alone could not change the fact that He Caitou was simply and utterly outmatched.

With each passing second, Xin Qing's lead slowly grew, quietly overwhelming He Caitou until even he was completely deprived of spirit energy. Sluggish in his movements, he attempted to fire one last great beam of energy, concentrating.

Before he could finish casting, however, Xin Qing's leisurely voice was once again heard. "4th Truth - Fixation." To He Caitou, it felt as if he had only blinked, but in the next moment, Xin Qing was already behind him and at his throat before he could react. Recognizing his loss, He Caitou admitted defeat, eliciting sighs and shouts of awe from the audience.

One of the eight spectators, the small girl Xiao Xiao, had a somewhat bitter expression as her eyes followed He Caitou's leaving figure with some sadness. He Caitou had noticed this and awkwardly held his head as he waved goodbye. "It's a shame, Xiao Xiao, but you can come see me anytime at the Wuhun Group Facility. Just ask Yuhao, he can show you the way there."

Nodding, Xiao Xiao said her goodbyes with a sad expression. Turning then to Xin Qing, was an expression of anger but one that lacked any true hostility. After all, even she knew it was fair. Xin Qing himself, only made a small note of the unexpected closeness between He Caitou and Xiao Xiao before filing it away into the 'weak and uninteresting' folder in his mind.

Looking to his master Xuan Zi, the old man gave him a smile and a nod, prompting Xin Qing to calmly walk away, once again picking up little Mo Yu'er on his shoulders. Then, right as he passed Xiao Xiao, he stopped and said a few words. "You should send a warrior off with a smile next time. After all, if it wasn't him, it'd been you, little girl." And just like that, he left without so much as waiting for a retort.

Xiao Xiao felt the flames of her rage burn brightly, but still held off on attacking him. In the end, it only affirmed her dislike of the bamboo-hatted pretty boy.

Xuan Zi had watched everything unfold from his podium. While he was somewhat concerned as to the unity of this generation's Seven Devils, he was plenty satisfied with its strength. In his mind, he already planned to have this generation meet the last generation of the Seven Devils. When that happened... The old man grew a perverted smile on his face as he loudly announced, "Congratulations, you all are Shrek's next Seven Devils! We are happy to have raised monsters like you!"

Hearing this, everyone broke out of the atmosphere from a few moments ago and celebrated, even Xiao Xiao, although slightly guiltier. In his moment of joy, Yuhao had even hugged Wang Dong, causing the latter to freeze momentarily before breaking out into a sweet smile.

However, the good times never last as bad things lurk behind every corner... Truly, the tribulations for Shrek's little monsters were only beginning!
