Chapter 24: Chapter 24 | System Mission
The next day, Lex is at LexCorp in his office. He isn't even worried about what had happened with Howard because he knows Howard will comply with his words.
Meanwhile, at the SSR Howard walks on with a gloomy expression on his face. All of the agents that are seeing him was wondering what happened to him.
Most people put the issue in the back of their minds. Since, they know Howard is a notorious playboy, so this might be woman related. Still, Howard didn't care, he walks down to Peggy Carter's office.
When he arrives at the door, he opens it and see Peggy there with an angry look on her face. She was going through paperwork about the war and also on Steve.
Seeing this Howard mutters. "Agent Carter, I know we have always gotten along and we have been through thick and thin. So, I was wondering could you do me a favor in regards of Lex Luthor."
Spoke Howard as he awaits Peggy's words. She stops doing what she was doing and finally looks straight into Howard's eyes. She began to analyze his body language and his tone, making Howard nervous.
"Why are you asking me about Lex Luthor? By the way in regards to him, it almost slips my mind. What did you find out about Lex Luthor? Is he a Hydra spy or an Axis supporter."
Flashbacks of that terrible day came rushing back into Howard's head spooking him. He already looks like he hasn't slept at all. He is wearing the same clothes from yesterday.
Howard's breathing is steady quickening but he controls it. He looks at Peggy and says. "I couldn't find out anything about him, but one thing I did find out is that he is a fanatic. He supports America in this War and is willing to make major contributions to our side of the war."
Peggy frowns and thinks about the situation. She didn't say it outright, but she knows Howard is trying to hide something, but he is clearly doing a bad job about it. She looks back at Howard and says.
"I will tell the President about Lex and my other friends. If you lie Howard, you'll not only suffer major consequences, but also Stark Industries will be burned down the ground." Threatened Peggy.
Howard smiles and leaves. A suspicious Peggy never taking her gaze off Howard as he closes her door. She then gets back to work, reading the reports on the War.
Back in LexCorp, Lex is looking at a System Mission.
[Mission: Get into the Political and Military world by any means possible.]
[Rewards: Blue Beetle's Powers and Abilities]
[Time limit: 6 months]
Reading the missions and possible rewards, Lex was smiling from ear to ear. He immediately begins looking at the rewards. Blue Beetle is extraordinarily powerful.
With his A.I. Scarab, the Blue Beetle could do various things, his Powers are Flight, Super Speed, Super Strength, Technopathy, Absorbing Energy, etc etc.
Thoughts starts to appear in Lex's head making him smile. These plans in his head would immediately make him the most powerful and influential people on Earth. Having knowledge to make Energy-Absorbing weapons like the Tesseract but far more powerful.
He isn't just thinking about the Allies side. He is also thinking about the Axis's side. He will sell to both sides and come out with the most profit. With Scarab's knowledge, Lex now knows all the technology of the Ancient Civilization called Reach.
"This interesting, I can rapidly expand my influence with this technology. This technology is millennia's above Earth's technology. People will treat me as God, while Howard will be along working for me. People will treat me like as an even more genius man than Howard ever was."
Lex couldn't help but look forward to the future. His future is extremely bright. He is already one step closer to becoming a man to be feared and loved. Lex disables the Mission System props his legs on his desk.
"LexCorp will soon rule the world. I will be the one of decides everybody's future. I will be the person everybody comes to for answers. I will be the greatest man to have ever lived. This war is just a stepping stone to me to make profits." Muttered Lex, speaking like a true capitalist.
The future is bright, but the world's fate look dark. World War 2 is only just beginning. Story lines are coming into the fold. Mutant Clubs and Societies are developing. Red Skull is probably just figuring out how to use the Tesseract.
Plenty of problems from the original timeline are coming into the forefront. The only thing Lex will change about these original events are, he will change the events of Steve Rodger's death.
