Chapter 57: Down the Deep

"What do you think?"

A well-dressed gentleman glanced at the scene, the well-maintained hall was now painted with blood, the blood's hue slowly going dark as it dries up and dies.

The carpet was very much not spared from the mess, with limbs and some muscle tissue embedded in it as if a cannon shot out the flesh.

Biomass covered Leonard's room, and his body was missing. It was already five hours, and they just got back from a mess at the Academy.

"I have no idea, chief. The tracks lead nowhere. The amount of black magic here says nothing."

"There's more in the Black magic." a man intruded. "A few Arcane mana here."

"We're they planning to Kidnap Leonard?" The Chief asked. "If so, what and why?"

"How are we supposed to answer that? The enemy is black magic users, I'm still surprised that our Theocratic neighbour country still hasn't done a crusade."

"Right."

They have yet to reach a destination and a conclusion, why and where did Leonard go?

Lenneza, who was watching in the distance, never felt so helpless. Leonard was just there a moment ago till she felt the initial surge of black magic. It was too late to recognize it.

Even though she had access to his diary their information is still limited, aside from the magic and mana techniques it entailed the limitation of offensive and defensive techniques is close to none but in times like this? She wishes she could use it, to at least help someone she is dear to.

Lenneza who was clenching her hand so hard it bled had her arm tugged. Her gaze landed on a white-red-haired girl, whose height is only up to her chest.

"Big sis?" Lorraine looked at Lenneza with worried eyes.

"Ah… it's nothing." No, it wasn't nothing, there are times when Lenneza would think if her wish was sufficient when they defeated the Demon King. "I'm just thinking."

"Will Brother come back?"

Her eyes were about to be teary, but Lenneza was uncertain, they freed Leonard from the Overlord and she had no idea if he is still protected from the forces of fate other than his own.

"Yes." However, Lenneza was sure. This time she had confidence. "I'm sure He'll return." Leonard was better than he was the Overlords dog.

"Ugh…. Fuck!"

Leonard screamed. The servant that was controlled by the worm exploded aside from him being teleported.

His leg was injured and he was bleeding. But that was not the worst case, no. The mana surrounding him is thick, not only that it was pure that it felt like he was walking with weights on every single piece of his limb whilst swimming on tar.

The explosion from the servant also left his body corrupted with residues of black magic, colliding with the surrounding pure mana and he felt like he was burning in hell.

The surrounding scenery was filled with lush green leaves along with the dark brown bark that it was attached to, it was alien to the eyes of Leonard as this type of flora was something he had never seen before.

"What fucking place is this?!"

He complained. He still had his briefcase. So he opened it and scoured the semi-dimensional pocket of the briefcase. He pulled out another solid case with a red mark on it.

He opened and medical items were presented in front of him. They're all high quality, and thanks to that he was able to apply medical care to his wounds. What was left was black magic.

"Fuck…"

He uttered once more, but he wasn't even given any time to recuperate as something threatening was sensed through his trained skin. He started fixing his things up and grabbed his gun out of the case. It's a spring-loaded gun, with 18 rounds at his disposal and four more to go. If things went desperate he had two more magazines not filled with bullets, but with a crystal that loads his mana and shoots it out of the gun.

The same feeling came again, Leonard raised his gun, still laying down due to injuries. A leg mangled, torso burned, and a few deep scratches on other limbs. That would take a while.

The sense of danger became clearer, it was now close and Leonard could only aim his gun. The footsteps could be heard in the distance and Leonard could feel dread the more it got closer.

What surprised him though, was when the clearing in front of him was a humanoid-insectoid creature, standing on four hind legs with two toes. It looked like an arachnid with a shortened abdomen.

"•|°|•°||°|°|"

"Huh?"

It talked with clicks and clacks and sometimes some screeching. After a few minutes of silence, a thread of mana got near to Leonard, as if asking a question if it could connect. Leonard allowed it, praying that this individual isn't a demon.

"Human?"

The thread of mana connected to his head, allowing thoughts and intents to follow through his brain instantly. He nodded, then asked.

"Yes, where am I?"

"You're on the lowest floor of the dungeon."

Leonard looked at the humanoid in despair. The lowest floor in the dungeon.

"That would be…?"

"Floor 3,780"

Leonard could not believe what he was hearing, the dungeon, the place he wanted to be, but in this exact location! The lowest floor of the dungeon.

He had yet to go back, to make sure that troubles won't come to the human continent. To the academy, to prevent lives from being compromised. Yet some fucker sent him below the lowest floor of the dungeon!?

The tournament would happen for a few years, but he still had time. He just needs to get out of here.

"Are you alright?"

The insectoid looked at Leonard, he could not read those faces but the voice in his head seemed worried.

"No…"

He slowly lowered down his gun, even if he pointed it at the insectoid creature it would do no damage, if it could live down here, it could eat a bullet with no problem.

"I… can't… "

Is it because the creature before him is civil or is it because he is tired from all the injury that his consciousness is drifting away? Well whatever, he hoped if he is going to get killed, might as well have it painlessly.
