Chapter 47: Too many villages

"I made them, just like I made my golem or whatever you want to call it." said Mark.

"But how? How do you make a spell?" asked Tristan confused.

"I guess it´s a unique skill. I write a bunch of runes, touch them, infuse them with my mana and I have a new spell. It´s a pretty quick process once you get used to it and it´s fun."

"So how many skills have you made so far?"

"I have twenty, but I´m gonna have to make more soon since a few things didn't occur to me."

"And can you make any skill you want?"

"Not really. I would love to have teleportation, but I have no clue where to start with that. Flying sounds nice, but I have trouble thinking about a suitable way to control such a spell. I thought about making a healing spell, but for now, I have no interest in cutting people and trying it out. Maybe I´ll make all three of them someday. Right now I don´t know how, though."

"If those are the only exceptions it sounds pretty good. With that explosion spell from earlier, you´re already as powerful as some of the S-ranks I´ve seen."

"Yeah, I think I´d win against a lot of S-rank mages. I have a big advantage in that field although I´m not really interested in fighting other people. That sounds kind of illegal."

"I know you´re enjoying your little interview moment, but you should probably focus on finding the boss." Clark sounded from the front.

"Sorry, you´re right. I get a little bit carried away when I talk about my magic."

"I wouldn´t have guessed." Clark said with sarcasm.

Mark calmed down and looked around the cave with his Magician´s eyes still activated. There was nothing on the cave roof, the walls were also barren, but in the distance, something familiar could be seen. He zoomed in and chuckled at the sight.

"Hey, there´s a village number three." announced Mark.

"You have to be joking this time for sure." retorted Clark.

"Nope, absolutely serious."

"God damn it. What kind of dungeon has this many monsters?"

"The one with 97 thousand mana reading I would presume." said Lucian.

"It´s fine I can take care of it in a second." said Mark already preparing his bomb.

"No, this time we´ll do it ourselves." commanded Emma.

"Eh, but why? asked Clark.

"The boss went into hiding, just because its location was revealed. It´s probably not very powerful without the invisibility so if we don´t give it an opportunity to attack it´s possible we´ll chase it around forever. Let´s fight the lizardmen and maybe the boss will notice and come take a closer look. At that moment we can take it down."

'I´ll make a probe spell just so I won´t have to waste time walking like this. We´ve been here for solid three hours.' Mark thought to himself annoyed.

After asking for the direction of the village Emma led the way. The settlement was located on a vast piece of land with a forest behind it. It also had much more robust houses than the first one.

This time the raid team didn´t try to be sneaky at all. They walked straight to the village, almost announcing their presence.

"Use [Provocation]." the raid leader told Tyler.

"COME AND GET ME!" his shout echoed throughout the cave.

The lizardmen peeked out of their homes with bloodshot eyes and upon seeing the group they started running at them.

In just a few seconds a dozen monsters piled up on the team´s tank. However, they had no chance of winning when they fought empty-handed.

Clark swiftly placed his buffs on Tyler who started his rampage. Heads were flying left and right as he ripped them off their bodies. Lucian also joined in on the fun and beheaded a few by himself.

It didn´t take long for the tribe´s elder to notice. He appeared covered in black tattoos and ornate clothes with a giant snake-like creature by his side.

"These guys have to love dragons." said Clark with a sigh.

'The first ones had a drake, the third ones have a wyrm, maybe the second tribe had a hydra or something like that. Guess I´ll never know.' Mark thought from the back.

When the elder lizardman waved his hand red energy appeared. It started moving sporadically until finally settling in the nearby corpses. Even the ones with their head missing woke up from the dead and with jerky movement got back to attacking the hunters.

"Not again." said Tyler.

A loud bang followed by a whistle could be heard. The group turned to see the source of the sound and saw Mark with his hand stretched out, projecting a magic circle.

"What?" he asked as the elder fell to the ground. "You said not again so I made sure it won´t happen again."

After seeing its master suddenly die the wyrm decided to attack his killers. It slithered to the group ignoring the wave of frost sent by Gina and made its way towards Mark.

Emma thrust her rapier causing high winds to form and blow at the dragon. Mark got ready to shower the serpent with a little bit of love from his waterjet spell, but then out of nowhere a significant portion of mana left his body. Quickly after, he heard an uncomfortable noise from the top, similar to chalk squeaking on a blackboard.
