Chapter 157: Side Story : Annie and Secre
In the middle of the garden, two girls around the age of fifteen could be seen playing and running around with crowns of flowers on their heads.
One of the girls had black hair with red eyes, while the other had blonde hair with pointy ears.
"Secre, you are so pretty… you don't have a single spot on your face," said fifteen-year-old Annie rubbing her cheeks against Secre.
"I use so many natural herbs, but still, my face is full of pimples!"
"I just seal off any pimples before they can grow bigger," Secre said with a smug face.
"Use that magic on me too, Secre~"
A bit far from the duo, two young men could be seen watching the girls play.
One was the Elf Leader, Licht, while the other was the Price of the Clover Kingdom, Lumiere.
"It's so harmonious like this… I wish all of us could live like this with the humans," Licht said with a gentle smile.
Lumiere was happy to see Secre finally finding a friend to interact with.
Back in the kingdom, no matter how much Lumiere said, Secre wouldn't interact or open up to anyone.
Annie, the niece of the previous Elf Leader, was like a blessing to Secre, who slowly helped her come out of her shell.
"We will do it, Licht! Together we will create a new future for the humans and the elves to live in harmony. One day it wouldn't matter how one looks or how much mana one has, everyone, would get along with each other," Lumiere said with determination.

The sky was red, matching the color of the river of blood flowing from the corpses of Elves.
"Annie, please respond! Please open your eyes," Secre sobbed as Annie's unmoving body lay on her lap.
Tetia, the wife of the Elf Leader Licht, lay beside her, but one thing Secre overlooked was that her Grimoire was untouched.
"Seems like… it's goodbye, Secre… if there is a life after death… let's be friends again," Annie slowly closed her eyes.
"First Tetia and you too, please don't leave me too, Annie," Secre kept sobbing as everything went quiet.

Five hundred years later:
Julian, Secre, and Finral entered the Blue Rose camp.
They were there for the final planning before entering the Diamond Kingdom to rescue the captured spies of the Clover Kingdom.
As soon as they entered the main tent, Secre's eyes stopped on a blond-haired girl.
A wave of sadness hit Secre upon seeing Annie.
'Just like the others, she must have been the subject of the reincarnation magic of the Devil too.
I want to talk to her… give her a hug… tell her so much, but I can't…..
The Annie I knew is gone forever… the girl in front of me is a different person.'
But something unexpected happened at that moment.
Annie rubbed her eyes as if trying to register if she was seeing right.
'Is that Secre?! There are some horns made of forbidden magic on my head, but I can't forget her.
I can't mistake her for someone else…
I have to go on this mission! Of course, my mentor takes priority too, but I can't miss this opportunity to talk to her.
I have to know if she remembers me.'
Unfortunately, Sakura and Julian shut down her plan to tag along on the mission to the Diamond Kingdom.
With all the planning done for the mission, Julian and Finral exited the tent while Secre was the last to follow.
Annie ran towards Secre and handed her a piece of paper.
"Please contact me after you come back from the mission… we need to have an important talk."
Secre was shocked after receiving the contact information from Annie and lost herself for a bit.
"Do you remember me, Annie?"
Secre realized what she did and composed herself.
"Shh! Not now… contact me after the mission," Annie whispered.
"Okay…" Secre took the paper and left the tent.
There was a new light in Secre's eyes; she felt as if she found a missing piece in her life.
"Be safe, Secre!" Annie shouted in a tone of excitement.
"Do you know that girl?" Sakura asked Annie, seeing the change in her mood.
"She is an old friend I haven't seen in a while~"

A week later:
It was evening, and the light of the setting Sun colored an entire field of white flowers orange.
In the middle of the field of flowers, stood a blond-haired girl with pointy ears, wearing a crown of flowers on her head.
Secre was in tears seeing a familiar scene in front of her.
"I knew you are the same Secre I knew… We are meeting each other after so long, and you are crying, Secre… you will make me cry too," Annie crouched down and hugged Secre.
"How… how do you have your memories?" Secre asked, hugging Annie tightly.
"Sigh! You still are an emotional girl…" Annie whispered, making Secre sob even harder.
"Does that really matter, Secre? We are meeting again after five hundred years… that is all that matters," Annie whispered.

Annie recited most of the events that happened after she was reborn.
About a voice inside her head telling her to hate the humans, slowly gaining back Elf powers, etc.
Secre too shared what happened after the death of the Elves, like the fight between Demon Licht and Lumiere, the involvement of the Devil, Secre using sealing magic and becoming a stone, and finally waking up around fifteen years ago.
"It must have been hard, Secre… losing everyone you loved… spending so much time alone looking for anyone to understand you. But don't worry anymore, like we were back then, you can depend on me, Secre!" Annie said, holding Secre's hand.
"No… this time, I will protect you, Annie. I won't let anything happen to you. I wouldn't lose you again," Secre declared.
Annie smiled, hearing Secre's determination.
It was a relief seeing that Secre didn't change a bit.
