Chapter 73: Chapter 72: Finding Lulac and Gyuho

And Casmere's suspicions did not go unfounded, as the two saw a numerous amount of the Gania Dogs in a group fighting against two humanoid figures within their midst. The sounds of sizzling and smashing echoed in the air, and a smacked away demon revealed the scuffling Guides within.

Locked firmly on steady feet was Gyuho, who wore fine clothes akin to a nobleman that sported a fitted metal chest plate that rose into a neck guard lined with fur. He wore crest etched pants with lacquered shoes that would've been pristine if it were not for the blackened dirt it was tinged with. He clutched his metallic baseball bat with vigor as he dodged rabid bites by stepping into his shadow, occasionally bowing as red crosses flew out of his chest to pierce his enemies.

And above the ground with a waxen wing flapping in the air on his right shoulder was Lulac, his periwinkle skin tinged with lacerations as both his and demon blood mixed. He wore tattered shorts, the left leg longer than the right, an ornate shirt with long, puffy sleeves, and metal plated boots. Atop his torso, a ragged scarf was wrapped around his neck, and he brandished the metallic hilt with his right hand as the beam saber sought to transpierce and slice the demons into ribbons.

"Mansion Sting!" Lulac fluttered down, the cold around him keeping the wax wings from melting as fast as they normally would, and his chest was pointed towards the ground. The beam saber flashed, the laser beam itself seaming to point as sharp as a nail, and a corkscrew of lilac energy surrounded both the weapon and his arm as he unleashed his strength.

A Gania Dog's leg was blown off, flying in the air towards where Bie and Casmere once stood. They were not content to simply watch, leaping into the fray for separate reasons and yet united all the same.

Casmere's eyes were locked on a gnarlier dog who stood at six meters tall, the exposed ribcage having eyes along the bones and three horns arranged into a blooming pattern atop its head. As such, he ran right past the other Guides as the beast was withdrawn, lurking at the back as it watched its subordinates collide with the two prey it wanted.

The wheel shone with an ethereal luster, and his footsteps multiplied as if they were multiple of him. Surrounding Casmere were seven faceless phantoms, all wielding the same bone pick as he, and they engaged with the mighty pack leader.

Bie drew two swords and ran along the back of a crouching Gania Dog, drawing an arc in its flesh as the blades cracked and dissolved into small fragments. Wielding Ekulech and increasing his weight with Mountain's Step, he reaped the head of the demon in one go, kicked it towards Lulac and Gyuho, and then rode on it as he lightened his weight.

Gyuho took notice of him first, giving Bie a small thumbs up as he resumed smashing his bat into whatever demon would come near. He seemed to be gliding along the stone floor as his body darkened each and every time he stepped into his shadow, and after he would evade an attack, he would punish the demon with a skull crushing impact.

Lulac danced with the heat and the chill as his cold aura and his beam saber conflicted against each other, his head lined with pearls of sweat that plopped onto the ground. Bie flew right past him, and Lulac's eyes opened in amazement before regaining their vigor, the periwinkle boy redoubling his efforts with a smile.

Bie arrived on ground, crushing the head underneath him into a bloody pulp of crushed bones and flesh. He then ran straight ahead, Ekulech's blade gleaming as he darted around the demons and took quick swipes, relieving them of their flesh and blood with each swing. He slid back and baited three separate dogs into facing him head on, the three surrounding him as they made a lunge!

Bie jumped in the air while reducing his weight, and the three demons collided into each other headfirst. Their slavering jaws opened and closed ungainly before they clasped onto their fellows' bodies, ripping into the flesh inadvertently. Reddened blood tinged with sickening green flowed down and colored the stone, and the three were locked into a quivering mass as they flailed about.

Bie was going to fall down and cull them with the power his fall would gain, but as he saw the chaos they had devolved into. Instead, he went with another idea. Releasing his right hand from the crisscrossed pattern of x's Ariadne's thread settled into, his hand hung down below his waist as it was held by the red thread. Rotating his hand by oscillating the stump, he shot it forwards to lure the Gania Dogs into following it and colliding into each other.

As his Ink drained, he had succeeded and getting more than four fifths of the Gania Dogs into unstable masses of biting and tearing mounds. He reattached his right hand and fell straight down, softly landing on the ground as he withdrew two heavy great swords from his duffel bag. Since he simply had to dice the connected demons up, he didn't need to be particularly fast...

Lulac's jaw dropped, though he still kept his eyes locked on the two Gania Dogs he was fighting. With a heavy breath, he gasped for air as his whole body was lit aglow with lilac hues deeper than his own blood.

"Building of the Twisted Mansion!" A small-scale illusory mansion appeared behind his body, the imprint twisting and colliding with itself as the building tilted. From four sides in a square, his laser beam struck out all at the same time, some of the attacks twisting and bending from odd angles. With this, he dispatched the two demons he was fighting against and looked for another with bleary eyes.

Gyuho shook his head whilst performing his own skill. He stepped back and the shadow underneath him rose, the face of which was cackling as sharp teeth greeted the air above. Then, the shadow looked down at Gyuho and enveloped him, and a dark miasma surged into the ground before erupting into three Gania Dogs like geysers.

"Broken Flair: Showoff." That was all he had to say, and his canine like eyes gleamed while the ankh on his glabella glowed. He smashed the heads off the dogs that were taking the barrage of the surging miasma shot, successfully extirpating the demons he was facing with a bit of energy to spare. He was panting, though, struggling to regain his breath as he ran towards another demon, bat doggedly clinging to his hand...

Bie had no fancy technique or skill he could do, his power resulting from his Bridges and his own management and utilization of his own innate qualities. That was to say, his power couldn't be learned and instead had to be built from nothing, and the feats he achieved were hard to replicate in the same way he did. That was why, compared to his two fellow Guides along with his higher rank, he was at ease as he hefted two great swords onto his shoulders.
