Chapter 2: The chasers

The forest stretched out as far as the eye could see. Trees hundreds of meters tall rose high above the grass, and little light filtered through the canopy.

In the shade of those gargantuan trees, two figures, so small compared to them that you could have mistaken them for ants, were being hunted down.

The two were running desperately, as five creatures, each armed to the teeth and completely different from the others, followed closely behind.

The fastest of them moved as if floating, cloaked in smoke and shadows.

Looking hard enough, one could see his body was completely wrapped in dark gray bandages, with only enough space for his hazy colorless eyes to peek through.

Occasionally, a glint of light managed to pierce the veil of darkness surrounding him, and reflected on the unblemished metal of his two daggers. Their green and silvery hues, so striking under normal conditions, made barely visible in the hands of this mysterious man.

Right behind him, a tall, fearsome lizardman moved through the underbrush, clearly not used to having to chase down his prey.

A series of wires, hooks and nets hung from his belt, with more equipment hidden in a pack on his back. In his hands, he carried a simple wooden spear, which would have looked quite primitive if it wasn't for the powerful aura emanating from it.

His green and brown scales shifted in color under the light, adapting to their surroundings, and even with all those tools weighing him down, his steps were completely silent, and where his master lunged forward with reckless fury to reach their targets, he followed with careful, deliberate steps.

Next to the bandaged creature there's an incredibly beautiful woman with a mature charm, she has a beautiful emerald green skin-tight dress.

But the most noticeable thing is on her back: a small wooden chest hanging from her hair almost as if it's chomping on them.

Other than this on her waist there's a bony white whip that, if looked closely, seems to be made with pointy teeth linked together by thin tendon-like threads.

Right in front of her there's a fat and warty goblin, conscious of his ugliness he likes to dress with ostentatious gems-inlaid garments that look as if they've been woven from gold, silver and other precious metals. On his waiste there's a Cheque book and a pen made of many gems put together.

Next to him there's a sickly looking ratman, if the two entered a contest of ugliness there's no telling who would win. Between his dirty gray fur there are many bald spots that reveal an ugly pale green skin underneath full of blisters. His belt is full of of throwing weapons and various gadgets apt to distract others while fighting or running away.

Now you're probably asking "Why are those two being chased?" Well it's not that long of a story, simply put it's because they are together.

That in itself is not a problem, being together, loving each other and having a kid is probably the dream of many creatures.

The real problem here is that they are too different to be together! It's not about their physicality it's about their status, one is a mid-grade goddess and the other a low grade one! It's like a queen marrying a drunkard found in the streets!

Now that could even be forgiven as a temporary foolishness, but even after being reprimanded they still went to see each other and even had the gall of having a child, and that made the severity of the problem soar exponentially.

Not being able to hide the little creature still in his egg, the two decided to hide… but in the end they got discovered by a messenger of Information, he didn't think twice about betraying his master in order to carry favor with another mid-grade god. Who knows? Maybe they could even help him take away the throne of Information.

And that brings us to the current situation, the prohibited couple running away…
