Chapter 50: Haraguro

Other than that, I was trying to avoid any troubles during this week. I have already reached the Score needed to pass this month's requirements, so there was no reason for me to involve myself in other Arks.

So, when at some point I found a crying girl on the rooftop, I silently went away without attracting her attention...

I could probably earn some Points by involving myself in her story, but I decided against it.

From this point onward, I wanted to involve myself only in Arks that I created with my own hands. That way I will know what to expect from the story…

For example, when it comes to the SpoCon genre, I was thinking about infiltrating the school of our Villains. To spy on them. That was a common development in these kinds of stories. I could even end up "accidentally" exposing myself and having to duel one of them… That could earn me many points.

However, it was also very dangerous, so I had to consider everything carefully.

Thinking about all this stuff, I entered our Dojo. Shirogane and Toma had already been there. They were not training, but rather waiting for me. Today we were going to pay a visit to a very important person.

The master of this Dojo.

Together, we walked into the street. Then, surprisingly, Takeshi led us into the forest. We were walking in the direction of my dorm. However, contrary to my expectations, we passed it by and walked deeper into the forest.

At some point, the sandy path under our feet started to disappear. Soon, we were walking through the thick bushes. I could hear the sound of cicadas chirping… My head felt strangely fresh.

Maybe our master was a vagrant living in the mountains.

Nah.

That doesn't seem to be the case...

After walking for about half an hour, I saw a white wall appear between the trees. Takeshi smiled and said:

"Here it is," and that led us toward this wall. It was made from stone, but there was a roof of black wood topping it.

We went around the wall and saw a stone ladder stretching toward the foot of the hill. The building itself, meanwhile, turned out to be a shrine. The entrance of it was a cross-shaped hole in the wall.

We walked inside.

In front of us appeared the main building of the shrine but what really attracted my attention was a young black-haired girl in a white priestess dress who had been sweeping the inner yard…

She noticed our appearance and raised her head…

"Oh, you can enter and sit down. The grandfather will be here soon…" said the girl with a smile on her white face while opening the door of the shrine for us. It was heavy, so she had to use both of her hands. At last, the door moved and the girl once again looked at us.

I saw a necklace made of black Buddhist beads on her neck with a large white cross.

Thinking about it now… Yeah, there was a special religion on Aozora. It was something like a mix of Buddhism and Christianity. And a little bit of Shintoism. That girl was obviously a Miko.

We accepted her invitation and walked into the shrine. It was bright inside. The building itself wasn't too large, and there was an altar on the wall opposite the door.

The girl walked toward the altar and sat down on a red cushion lying in front of it. There was a little fan working beside her. It made her short black hair raise.

"You can sit," said the girl with a warm smile on her face (it was a little bit childish).

We silently sat down opposite her pillow.

I felt the wind from the fan.

It was quite pleasant.

"Grandfather will be here in ten minutes," said the girl.

"Good," Takeshi nodded.

"We can wait."

Shirogane nodded as well.

After that, we had a little talk. Turns out, the girl's name was Maria and she was the granddaughter of the master of our Dojo. She also was the priestess of this shrine, and because it was an official profession, she did not have to go to high school.

How lucky.

Suddenly, I heard a voice in my head.

'Attention! Attention! A Haraguro-type character is detected!'

What?..

'A 'haraguro character is one who has an outward appearance of being friendly and innocent, but uses a combination of the aforementioned traits to hide their real cruel, cunning, evil and sadistic side.'

'For dealing with Haraguro-type characters, it is recommended to buy the TRUE Intention Detector (works only on Haraguro-type characters)'

I blinked several times and looked at the girl in front of me sitting on a red cushion.

She was making a warm smile.

So she was a… Haraguro?

How interesting.

However, buying stuff right now will be a little awkward…

'Don't worry, boy! I can do it for ya! Just 10P and the True Intention Detector is yours!'

10P? Well, it's a good price.

So be it.

"I agree" I whispered.

'Good! The purchase is complete!' shouted the clown and went silent.

So… How does this Detector works? I tried looking at Maria, but I didn't see anything.

Suddenly, Takeshi asked her:

"Is the teacher healthy?"

"Of course. Grandfather is in good health!" answered the girl.

And then a little bubble with text appeared just by her face:

'F*cking old bastard is still alive. Ha… Can't wait for him to finally kick-off. I want my damn inheritance already....'

My eyes went wide.

"That's good," Takeshi smiled.

"Yes, I'm very glad," nodded Maria.

Meanwhile in the bubble…

'Good for you, r*tard. What if this crazy geezer goes insane and makes you the interior of his money? I will have to try to prove in court that he had dementia. What a f*cking bother…'
